About

Description

Sky’s Ley Lines gives magic mods a shared source of power. Ley lines run through the Overworld and meet at nexuses, where raw magic gathers. Their layout comes from the world seed and your world’s ley settings, so the crossings stay in the same places as you explore. Each nexus has its own strength and reserve.

Find ley lines in-game

  • Dowsing rods: Craft a pair with two copper ingots and two sticks. Hold the rods with your other hand empty. They turn towards nearby ley lines and cross when you enter a nexus field.
  • Locate a nexus: Run /skysleylines locate nexus as an operator to find the closest crossing. Click the coordinates in chat to copy them.
  • Ley Vision: Run /skysleylines vision on to see ley lines as flowing cyan rivers with branching lightning. Violet plumes and rings mark nexuses, making crossings easy to spot while scouting from above.

For mod developers

Other mods can read local magical strength, register their own energy currencies, and convert raw magic into the currency their machines or spells use. Every currency draws from the same reserve at a given nexus, so different mods can share a source of power. Spending energy frees room for raw magic to recharge.

The API also lets other mods grant temporary Ley Vision through effects such as spells, potions, or equipment.

There is a complete example mod here that you may use code from or fork to build your own magic mod based on ley lines:

Compatibility

Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge 21.1.247 or later in the 21.1 series. Install on both the client and server for multiplayer. The mod works on its own for dowsing and scouting, or as a library for other magic mods. Ley lines and nexuses currently generate in the Overworld.
