Slate Building

Beta. An early build of Slate: expect bugs, you can report them on the Discord.

Slate Building is a building mod for survival: a family of shapes for every block on a wheel, a ghost of what you are about to place, and 21 building modes unlocked by tools. Every shape is worth exactly one block of its material, so nothing can be duplicated.

Shapes

• Hold Left Alt with a block in hand: a wheel of its shapes opens, and the stack becomes the one you let go on.
• Stairs, slabs, vertical slabs, walls, slopes, roofs, columns, beams and more, in any material.
• A Chisel changes the material and keeps the shape.

Placing

• A see-through ghost shows what a right-click places, and a red outline where the game would refuse.
• Hold right-click and sweep to fill a row, none skipped.

Building modes

• R opens the build menu: Fill, Walls, Sphere, Replace, Copy, Paste, Mirror and more, on a box you select.
• The plan shows as ghosts before it is built; undo and redo take back whole operations.
• The server checks reach and claims for every block and builds a few each tick.

Toolbox

• The Builder's Toolbox holds six tools, four upgrades and a pouch of blocks.
• Tools in copper, iron, diamond and netherite: higher tiers unlock more modes and raise your limits.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge or Fabric, Java 21) and 1.20.1 (Forge or Fabric, Java 17); on Fabric with Fabric API. Needs Slate Core. Required on the server and every player, same version. Optional: Chipped, Rechiseled, Create, JEI and Better Inventory. On 1.21.1 it works on Sable ships too.
