Description
Slender: The Eight Pages
A Slender Man horror survival mod for Minecraft. Every night, find the 8 pages before he finds you.
Requirements
You need all four of these for the mod to load:
| What | Version | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft: Java Edition | 1.20.1 | Minecraft Launcher |
| Fabric Loader | 0.15.11 or newer (minimum 0.14.21) | https://fabricmc.net/use/installer/ |
| Fabric API | 0.92.2+1.20.1 (any Fabric API build for 1.20.1 works) | https://modrinth.com/mod/fabric-api or https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/fabric-api |
| Java | 17 or newer | The Minecraft Launcher includes it; no manual install needed |
This mod does not work on Forge, NeoForge, Quilt without Fabric support, Bedrock Edition, or any Minecraft version other than 1.20.1.
Installation
- Install Fabric Loader. Download the Fabric installer, choose Minecraft 1.20.1, and click Install. A new "fabric-loader-1.20.1" profile appears in the Minecraft Launcher.
- Open your mods folder.
- Windows: press
Win + R, type%appdata%\.minecraft\mods, press Enter. - macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods - Linux:
~/.minecraft/mods - If the
modsfolder doesn't exist, create it.
- Windows: press
- Add two files to the
modsfolder:slenderman-1.0.0.jar(this mod)- the Fabric API jar you downloaded
- Launch the game using the fabric-loader-1.20.1 profile.
- Create a new world and play. You should see "Slender: The Eight Pages" in the Mods list if you have a mod menu installed; otherwise just look for the Day counter at the top-left.
Do not extract the jar. Put it in mods exactly as downloaded.
Multiplayer and servers
- The mod must be installed on both the server and every player's client, along with Fabric API.
- Use a Fabric server for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- The death jumpscare is client-side, so players need the mod installed to see it.
How to play
- Start a normal world on Easy, Normal or Hard. Peaceful mode means no damage.
- Daytime: only a day counter is shown. Nothing happens.
- Dusk: a 10-second VHS intro plays, then a page counter appears. 8 pages are hidden in the world.
- Collect all 8 pages to make Slender Man disappear until the next night, or survive until dawn.
- Don't stare at him, and don't stay still. Camping in one spot for about 4 minutes, or hiding indoors for about 30 seconds, makes him hunt you and break through doors and walls.
- Slender Man has infinite health. You can hit him, but you can't kill him.
- If he kills you, expect a jumpscare before the death screen.
- For best results, play at night-time brightness defaults, headphones on, in a dark room.
Wall-breaking requires the mobGriefing game rule to be on (it is by default).
Commands
Require operator permissions or cheats enabled.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/slender reset |
Re-rolls the pages and clears your progress |
/slender day <n> |
Jumps to dusk of day n (the monster gets tougher on nights 10 and 20) |
Troubleshooting
- Game crashes on launch / "Incompatible mod set": check that you're using Minecraft 1.20.1, the Fabric profile, and that Fabric API is in the
modsfolder. - Mod doesn't appear: make sure the file ends in
.jarand sits directly inmods, not in a subfolder. - Wrong Java: if you run the game outside the official launcher, use Java 17 or newer.
- No sound or static: check that your Master volume and Hostile Creatures volume aren't at 0.
- Using other mods: this mod hasn't been tested with other mods that change death screens or the HUD. If something conflicts, try removing the other mods first.
Reporting bugs
Please include:
- your Minecraft, Fabric Loader and Fabric API versions
- a list of your other mods
- the
latest.logfile from.minecraft/logs
