Description
No longer in developent. Code is available on GitHub if anyone wants to update or use it: https://github.com/Randores
Warning: Randores 2+ is incompatible with Randores 1.x. Also, this page is not updated (yet) for Randores 2. For information about Randores 2, see the currently incomplete wiki.
Overview:
Randores is a mod that adds 16,777,216 ores to the game. Of these ores, 300 are randomly selected and added to each world. About 100 of these ores generate in each dimension.
Items:
Each ore produces some material, some of them have to be smelted, while others don't. Each material can be used to create a different set of items; the specific items each material can craft is random for each ore. Below is a list of all the items:
- Torch
- Brick
- Armor
- Pickaxe
- Axe
- Shovel
- Hoe
- Sword
- Bow
- Stick
- Battleaxe (very high damage)
- Sledgehammer (very high knockback)
Material Information:
Each material has different set of attributes and recipes. All recipes and attributes are listed in the "Material Tome." To craft a tome, simply combine a material and a book.
Empowerment:
You can "Empower" different tools by enchanting them with the "Empowered" enchantment. The enchantment, like mending, can only be found in treasure, and cannot be obtained in the enchantment table. Empowered tools apply potion effects to entities you hit with them. These potion effects are random for each material, and can be viewed in the Material Tome. Empowered armor is particularly powerful, as it applies good potion effects to the wearer and bad potion effects to attackers.
Plans for the Future:
Randores has been a fun "experiment," I've learned a lot about modding, and about minecraft. But all good things must come to an end. 1.12 will be the last updated for Randores v1. Version 2, on the other hand, is in the works! I'm am working on fully re-writing Randores, initially targeting minecraft 1.12 & Java 8. The plan is to use what I've learned about modding to greatly, greatly improve performance. Instead of registering ~1200 items, I plan on registering just ~10. Furthermore, texture reloading should no longer be necessary. This version is, however, for the future. I make no promises about time frame, but I expect a playable version in ~month, and perhaps some releases within 2-3 months?
Features to be included in Randores 2:
- Full customization for materials (literally every property randores generates will be editable)
- No more weird texture loading - no more screen freezes, etc.
- Significantly decreased number of items registered
- Full control of material customization & material count on the server side
- Make-it-go-faster improvements
- Minecraft 1.12 - compatible
