About

Description

The little soot spirits have arrived in Minecraft!

Inspired by Studio Ghibli movies (My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away), these creatures add life, cuteness, and unique automation utilities to your world.

walking soot sprite

Key Features

The Entity: Soot Sprite

Small soot balls with arms and legs that appear in total darkness (light level 0). They are shy, hardworking, and very curious.

  • Shy Behavior: They will flee if you sprint towards them. To get close without scaring them, you must go Sneaking (Shift) or hold a Star Candy.
  • Stacking: When they are bored and idle, they stack on top of each other to form wobbly towers!
  • Sounds: They make high-pitched squeaks and cute noises (inspired by high-pitched bats).

New Items

  • Star Candy (Konpeitō): Colorful glowing candies. Found in dungeon chests or craftable (Sugar + Dyes).

    • They are irresistible to Sprites. Use them to attract and tame them.
    • Edible for the player (they give a small speed boost).

    crafting

  • Glass Bottle & Soot Jar: Right-click a Sprite with a Glass Bottle to catch it.

    • You will get a Soot Jar (Sprite in a jar), great for decoration or for transporting your friends from place to place.
    • Release it by right-clicking on the ground.bootle

Taming & Utility

You can earn a Sprite's trust by giving it Star Candy. They have a 33% chance of being tamed per candy (you will see hearts). Once tamed, they become automatic helpers:

"Cute" Automation

Tamed Soot Sprites will work for you within a close radius:

  • Scavenge: They pick up items from the ground, with a preference for Coal and Candies, but they will grab anything if their hands are empty.
  • Smart Storage: If they pick up an item, they will look for nearby chests that already contain that same item and deposit it there. Automatic inventory organizers!
  • Furnace Feeding: If they pick up fuel (Coal/Wood), they will look for active furnaces and refill them automatically.
  • Copper Golem (Buttons): If they see an unpressed stone or wooden button, they will run to push it. Ideal for random farms or simply causing chaos!

Progression (Advancements)

The mod includes its own achievements tab to guide you:

  • Dust Bunny: Find your first trace of soot.
  • Sweet Tooth: Tame a friend with sweets.
  • Full House: Catch one in a jar to go.

⚙️ Technical Details

  • Fluid Animations: Powered by GeckoLib, the sprites feature custom animations for walking, running, holding items (in one hand or over their head), and floating.
  • Advanced AI: Dynamic priority system. They know when to work, when to play, and when to flee.
  • Visuals: Black smoke particles when moving or disappearing.
