Description
Unofficial port. This is not P3pp3rF1y's work, so please don't report issues with it to the original author.

Sophisticated Storage Legacy brings P3pp3rF1y's Sophisticated Storage to Minecraft 1.12.2: barrels, chests and shulker boxes you can dye, upgrade in tiers and fit with upgrades that pick up, filter, compact, smelt, pump and move items for you.
Requires Sophisticated Core Legacy 1.1.0 or newer.
Original project and license
This is a port of Sophisticated Storage by P3pp3rF1y (source on GitHub). The original was open source under the GNU GPL v3 until February 2025, when its 1.20.x and 1.21.x versions switched to All Rights Reserved; its 1.18.x branch is still GPL v3 today. This port uses only GPL v3 code:
- the
1.18.xbranch at commit 891b0d9 (version 0.9.8, October 2024), licensed GPL v3; - for double chests, barrel materials, the decoration table, Storage I/O blocks and the newer upgrades, the
1.20.xbranch at commit a41c806 (version 1.3.5, 9 February 2025), licensed GPL v3, from before that branch switched to All Rights Reserved on 11 February 2025.
The GPL lets anyone port and change GPL code, as long as the result is also GPL, credits the author and ships its source. This port is GPL v3, with its full source on GitHub and on the Files tab, and it uses nothing from any version released under All Rights Reserved. How it differs from the original is listed under Differences from the original below.
Features
- Barrels, chests and shulker boxes in every 1.12 wood, dyeable in two colours, plus flat-top barrels.
- Double chests: place two matching chests side by side for twice the slots, upgrade and pack them as one, and show their display items on the front or either end.
- Five tiers: wood, iron, gold, diamond and Nether Star. Upgrade storages in place without emptying them, through a controller, or by crafting.
- Copper and netherite tiers, crimson and warped woods when another mod adds those materials (Future MC, Nether Backport, Deeper Depths, Thermal, Mekanism and many more).
- Barrel materials: dress barrels in any block's look with the decoration table, the paintbrush or a crafting grid.
- Limited barrels with one to four huge slots, a front display with counts, and click-to-deposit and click-to-take.
- Upgrades: pickup, filter, magnet, feeding, compacting, void, smelting, auto-smelting, smoking and blasting (with a mod's smoker or blast furnace), stonecutter (with a mod's stonecutter), crafting, jukebox, pump, XP pump, stack upgrades up to omega tier, stack downgrades, infinity upgrades, the hopper upgrades and the compression upgrade (blocks, ingots and nuggets in one chain).
- Controller and storage link: turn a room of storages into one inventory for hoppers, pipes and hand deposits, and link distant storages with the storage tool.
- Storage I/O, Input and Output blocks for piping into and out of a whole network.
- Storage tool, packing tape (move a full storage without spilling it), locking, memory slots, item displays on barrel fronts, upgrades installed by clicking the front, and a Shift tooltip showing what's inside shulker boxes and packed storages.
- Config with the original's options: slots per storage and tier, upgrade limits per storage, a guard against breaking storages that would spill too many items, items shulker boxes refuse, and more.
- JEI/HEI: every variant listed, with dye, tier upgrade and controller recipe examples.

Differences from the original
- The top tier is the Nether Star; copper, netherite, crimson and warped appear when a mod adds them.
- The smoking, blasting and stonecutter upgrades appear when a mod adds a smoker, blast furnace or stonecutter (Future MC, VillagerBackport and others).
- Packing tape keeps a storage's contents in the item.
- Sorting keeps a barrel's displayed items: the display follows its items.
- The compacting upgrade also turns NoTreePunching rocks into their cobblestones (configurable).
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.12.2, Forge 14.23.5.2847 or newer (Cleanroom works too).
- Sophisticated Core Legacy 1.1.0 or newer.
- Optional: JEI or HEI.
