About

Description

Tired of spending hours sorting your chests?

SortSage is a lightweight, server-side compatible mod designed to streamline your storage management. With SortSage, you don't need complex pipes or thousands of hoppers to keep your base organized. Simply mark your chests, hit a key, and watch your items snap into order.

How it Works

SortSage brings "smart storage" to your world using a simple sign-based system.

  1. Mark your territory: Place a sign (Wall Sign or Standing Sign) on or directly attached to any chest or barrel.

  2. Label it: Type "to sort" on the sign (case-insensitive).

  3. Sort: Press your configured keybind (default: 'O') while standing within range.

  4. Enjoy: All items in the marked chests will be extracted, consolidated, alphabetically sorted, and redistributed across your storage network.

Key Features

  • Area-of-Effect Sorting: Scans a user-configurable radius around the player to locate all marked storage containers.

  • Intelligent Consolidation: Items are grouped by type, maximizing stack efficiency. If you have "Cobblestone" scattered across 5 chests, SortSage pulls them all together into the first available inventory.

  • Alphabetical Organization: Items are sorted by their Registry Name/ID, ensuring your storage remains clean and predictable.

  • Overflow Handling: Never lose an item! If your marked chests fill up, any remaining items are neatly dropped at your feet as an ItemEntity.

  • Cross-Mod Compatibility: Built on Forge's IItemHandler capability, SortSage automatically supports Vanilla Chests, Barrels, and most modded storage containers (Iron Chests, Storage Drawers, etc.).

  • Highly Configurable: Server administrators can easily adjust the maximum sorting radius via the server config file to suit any playstyle or server performance level.

Technical Details

  • Version: 1.0.0

  • Minecraft Version: 1.20.1 (Forge)

  • Mod Type: Server-side utility (requires client installation for keybind access).

Installation

  1. Ensure you have Minecraft Forge 1.20.1 installed.

  2. Drop the SortSage jar file into your mods folder.

  3. Launch the game and get to organizing!
