A datapack that removes the minimum reach of all vanilla spears through a very cheap smithing table recipe.

Description

ATTENTION ALL SPEAR PLAYERS!

Don't you hate when a monster gets right up in your face, but your spear can't hit it because of the vanilla minimum range?

Well, fear no more! I got so annoyed by this mechanic that I made a datapack to fix it.

This datapack:

  • Removes the minimum melee range from all vanilla spears.
  • Keeps every other value vanilla (damage, attack speed, maximum reach, etc.).

How to use

Simply place your favorite spear, a stick, and a piece of leather into a smithing table.

Why? Because I don't know how to do it differently. :D

No damage buffs. No reach buffs. No attack speed changes. Just no more awkward dead zone.

Tested and working on 26.2
