Survival Friendly Farms

Spend more time playing survival, less time building giant farms

Want a steady supply of useful resources without covering your world in enormous mob towers, villager contraptions and sprawling farm machinery?

Survival Friendly Farms brings that automation into compact, Minecraft-style workstations. Gather the first resources yourself, craft a small machine, and let it slowly build up supplies while you explore, build or take a break.

No power grid, fuel network or complicated multiblock construction is required. These machines deliberately simplify vanilla farming progression: they are for players who enjoy survival but find large farm builds repetitive. They are not intended to reproduce vanilla farm balance exactly.

What is included?

  • 15 workshop farms: quartz, amethyst, glowstone, crops, wood, gunpowder, bones/arrows, string, slimeballs, ender pearls, blaze rods, wool, eggs/feathers, honeycomb and composting.
  • 10 resource drills: stone, coal, copper, iron, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond, emerald and netherite scrap. By default they require matching stone or ore underneath, which stays intact. A saved setting also allows placement anywhere.
  • Ore Crusher: turn collected dirt, gravel and stone into metal nuggets and resource traces.
  • Trace Compactor: automatically combine matching nuggets or traces into usable resources, with built-in storage.
  • Experience Condenser: collect XP above a spawner. That spawner is suppressed while the condenser is installed, including when its XP storage is full.

The models include growing troughs, a sawbench, a loom, presses, chimes, a kiln, an apiary and a compost barrel. No hidden mobs are spawned to run them. Workshop geometry is static in this first release.

Earn it first, automate it afterwards

Recipes use familiar materials and initial samples of the resource being automated. Find quartz before making its extractor, pearls before an ender collector, and honeycomb before an apiary. Recipes appear in the crafting table recipe book after you collect their starting materials.

The planter, woodcutter and wool station keep a reusable sample in the first slot to select their output. The compost tumbler consumes eight matching organic items per bone meal. Other farms have no recurring fuel cost.

Most workshop machines produce one resource every 30–60 seconds. Ender pearls take two minutes and blaze rods take three minutes. Composting takes five seconds. Metal drills produce nuggets; the netherite drill produces scrap, not ingots. Intervals are configurable.

Storage, hoppers and offline progress

Right-click to open storage. Fixed-output farms have nine output slots; configurable farms have one sample/input slot and eight output slots. Hoppers supply inputs and extract resources without stealing reusable samples. Full storage pauses production.

Offline progress is bundled in this download. Machines catch up after you leave an area or close the world, with a configurable 24-hour cap by default. Catch-up respects storage and inputs. It does not force-load chunks or replay entire hopper networks. Vanilla crops and furnaces also receive bounded catch-up using their normal growth, recipe and fuel rules.

Contents and unfinished work survive saving and reopening. Breaking a farm drops its machine item and stored contents safely; it does not pack the contents inside a portable machine item.

Installation

Supports Minecraft 26.4 Snapshot 5 only (26.4-snapshot-5, internal 26.4-alpha.5). CurseForge groups this under the broader 26.4 snapshot label. This file does not support other snapshots or stable versions.

Requires Fabric Loader 0.20.1+, Fabric API 0.164.1+26.4 for this snapshot, and Java 25+. Install Fabric API separately. Offline Progress is already bundled. Install on the host and joining clients. Single-player and LAN joining are tested; dedicated-server deployment has not been separately tested.

This is the public name of the earlier Compact Machines mod and keeps its compact_machines internal ID. Replace an older Compact Machines jar rather than installing both. Remove older standalone Offline Progress jars. No Buddy, personal compatibility bridge, shader or texture pack is required.

Vanilla material references follow compatible resource packs. Also tested with Vanillaccurate and Photon; these optional visual packs are not included.
