Description

Szymek’s Star Wars Mod (SSW)

Bring the Force, customizable lightsabers and a morality-driven progression system into Minecraft.

SSW is an ambitious Star Wars-inspired mod focused on making Force abilities and lightsabers feel like complete gameplay systems rather than simple weapons. Every player can develop their own Force build, assemble a unique lightsaber and choose their path between the light and dark sides.

SSW is currently in beta. Features, balance and visuals may change as development continues.

The Force

Master several Force abilities, including:

  • Force Push — repel enemies and entities in front of you.

  • Force Pull — pull a target toward you.

  • Force Hold — hold the Force Pull key to suspend a mob or player in the air.

  • Force Choke — use Alt together with the assigned Force Pull ability.

  • Force Barrier — reflects projectiles and prevents nearby mobs from reaching you.

  • Mind Control — temporarily turn a hostile mob against other enemies.

  • Force Stasis — immobilize a target.

  • Force Leap — perform an enhanced Force-powered jump.

  • Force Falling — unlock a controlled descent after using Force Leap.

Abilities consume Force energy and can be assigned to a three-slot ability hotbar. The default ability keys are G, V and B. Hold Shift and use the mouse wheel to cycle through assigned abilities.

All displayed controls automatically update when you change their keybinds in Minecraft’s control settings.

Meditation and progression

Press M to open the meditation interface.

Meditation restores Force energy but requires the player to remain still. Moving interrupts the process and activates a short meditation cooldown.

The skill tree uses regular Minecraft experience:

  • A major skill point costs 10 XP levels.

  • Smaller progression nodes cost 5 XP levels.

  • Nodes can unlock new abilities or provide bonuses such as additional Force capacity, health, damage and ability improvements.

Your ability order and unlocked progression are saved separately for every player.

Karma system

Every player has a karma value ranging from -250 to +250.

Your actions determine your alignment:

  • Killing villagers and iron golems reduces karma.

  • Killing baby villagers causes a particularly severe penalty.

  • Defeating hostile mobs increases karma.

  • Protecting villages and defeating raids provides significantly greater rewards.

  • Killing ordinary animals does not affect karma.

The Force HUD and meditation interfaces dynamically shift between blue and red depending on your current alignment.

Karma also affects special Kyber crystal mechanics and access to dark- or light-side progression.

Build your own lightsaber

Lightsabers are fully modular and are assembled using the Saber Workbench.

Each hilt consists of four visible components:

  • Emitter

  • Switch

  • Grip

  • Pommel

Components from different families can be freely combined to create a custom design. The workbench displays a physical 3D preview of the lightsaber and allows installed parts, the Kyber crystal and the sound profile to be replaced without rebuilding the entire weapon.

Available hilt families include designs inspired by several iconic eras and characters, alongside experimental custom-made sets.

Lightsabers feature:

  • Animated blade ignition and retraction

  • Multiple selectable sound profiles

  • Separate swing and successful-hit sounds

  • Shader-compatible emissive materials

  • PBR texture support

  • Custom 3D dropped-item rendering

  • No durability loss

  • Cooked meat drops when animals are killed with an active blade

  • Balanced high damage without making every encounter completely trivial

An active lightsaber can be bound to its owner using Shift + Right Click. Repeating the action removes ownership. An owned weapon is automatically renamed to:

PLAYER_NAME’s Lightsaber

Kyber crystals

Natural Kyber crystals can be discovered underground in icy biomes. They cannot be crafted.

Standard crystals may be attuned to one of several colors:

  • Blue

  • Cyan

  • Green

  • Purple

  • Yellow

  • Orange

  • Magenta

  • Indigo

Red and white crystals are reserved for alignment-based processes.

Crystal bleeding

Players with at least -85 karma toward the dark side can bleed a crystal, turning it red.

The process lasts 60 seconds, cannot be interrupted and prevents the player from moving. There is also a 5% chance that the crystal becomes cracked during bleeding.

Crystal purification

Players with at least +85 karma toward the light side can purify a previously bled crystal, turning it white.

Purification also lasts 60 seconds and cannot be interrupted. A cracked crystal remains cracked after purification.

Onyx Kyber

Only one Onyx Kyber crystal may exist on a server at a time. Another can become available only after the existing crystal has genuinely been lost.

A complete Dark Sword configuration requires:

  • An Onyx Kyber crystal

  • A Dark Sword emitter

  • A Dark Sword switch

  • A Dark Sword grip

  • A Dark Sword pommel

The Dark Sword uses its own flat blade shape and exclusive sound profile.

Additional content

SSW also includes:

  • Rare Jedi villagers who defend villages from hostile mobs

  • Imperial Credits

  • Beskar Plaques

  • A compact Force and ability HUD

  • A keybind for completely hiding the mod HUD

  • Server-side player data synchronization

  • Administrator commands for testing karma, Kyber crystals and Jedi villagers

Compatibility

  • Minecraft: 1.21.1

  • Loaders: Fabric and NeoForge

  • Multiplayer: Supported

  • Shaders: Optional, but recommended for the full lightsaber glow and PBR experience

Make sure to download the correct file for your mod loader.

Development notice

This is a beta release intended for testing. Back up important worlds before updating between versions and report any bugs, balance problems or visual issues you encounter.

SSW is an unofficial fan-made project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Lucasfilm, Disney or Mojang.
