Tamagotchi

Tamagotchi brings the little egg on your keychain into Minecraft. Ten rare pets hide in the world's structures: a chubby Desert Dragon in the pyramids, a leafy Jungle Dragon in the temples, a Tide Dragon at the ocean monument, a penguin in a scarf in an igloo, and six more. Find one, tame it with a Tamagotchi Heart, and it becomes your companion: it follows you, carries a backpack, fights beside you, has a special talent, and, just like the original, it needs you. Feed it, play with it, keep it clean and let it sleep, and it will love you back.

Every pet lives in its own structure and every structure only has a chance to hold it, so each find is something special. Wild pets stay close to home and never despawn. The cute ones run away when hit; the Ember Pup, Sculk Wisp and Mimic bite back. Hold a Tamagotchi Heart and they come closer.

• Desert Dragon (desert pyramid) - Ember Roast: roasts raw food and smelts raw ore with a puff of flame
• Jungle Dragon (jungle temple) - Green Thumb: crops and saplings around it grow
• Tide Dragon (ocean monument) - Tide Blessing: Water Breathing and Dolphin's Grace while you swim together
• Frost Penguin (igloo) - Frost Steps: water freezes under your feet
• Ember Pup (nether fortress) - Warm Heart: Fire Resistance when you catch fire, and it swims in lava
• Sculk Wisp (ancient city) - Echo Sense: a sonar ping makes hostile mobs glow through walls
• Void Kitten (end city) - Item Magnet: pulls dropped items into its backpack
• Pebble Golem (trail ruins, mineshafts) - Ore Sniffer: sniffs out the best ore nearby and makes it glow
• Hex Toad (swamp hut) - Brew Buddy: brews you helpful potion effects
• Mimic (trial chambers, woodland mansion) - Treasure Belly: a 27-slot belly (54 with a backpack) that coughs up treasure

A Tamagotchi is not a decoration. Four needs, Hunger, Fun, Energy and Hygiene, make up its mood, which you can read on the pet screen and as little bubbles over its head. Happy pets use their talent, sad pets sulk, and miserable pets refuse to fight.

• Hunger: Pet Kibble, its favourite treat, its usual food, or a Food Bowl it eats from all by itself
• Fun: petting, a Laser Pointer, a Squeaky Ball (fetch!), a Feather Wand, a Bouncy Mushroom, a Running Wheel, a Scratching Post, or just other pets
• Energy: sleeping in a Pet Bed, Pet Basket or Dragon Nest at night or whenever it is tired
• Hygiene: the Pet Brush or a filled Pet Bath

Every bit of care grows your bond, shown as hearts on the pet screen. The stronger the bond, the faster talents recharge.

The Tama Pager is your handheld device: right-click your pet to make it stay or follow, use it in the air to open your nearest pet's screen, and it beeps when a pet is hungry, bored, sleepy, dirty or hurt. You get a free one the first time you tame a pet.

Sneak + right-click with a chest and your pet puts on a backpack with 27 slots. It carries your stuff, and its talent may fill it for you. Take it off with shears, but careful: everything inside spills out!

Slip a golden apple into the backpack and your pet will keep an eye on your health. When it gets low, your pet runs over and feeds you one. Best friend, best snack pouch.

In a fight your pet helps you like a wolf would. When it gets hurt, it retreats to you and eats from its backpack to heal up, so keep some food in there. Tamed pets never die: when one runs out of health it faints into a Tama Egg that keeps everything: name, stats and backpack. Use the egg to wake your friend up again.

The three dragons can fly: when it is faster, for example to catch up with you after you sprinted off, or simply when they feel like it.

Furniture is more than decoration: your pets use it on their own.

• Pet Bed, Pet Basket, Dragon Nest: a place to sleep
• Food Bowl: fill it and your pets eat from it by themselves
• Pet Bath: fill it with water and it keeps everyone clean
• Bouncy Mushroom: everyone bounces
• Running Wheel: a pet runs inside it, and it gives off a redstone signal while it does
• Scratching Post: scratch, scratch, scratch
• Pet House: shelter from the rain

Everything is craftable.

Pets react to the world around them:

• They dance to jukeboxes and hop to note blocks
• They warm up at campfires and sniff flowers
• They beg for cake and for your food
• They hide from thunder and shake off water
• They cheer when you level up
• They play with each other
• They sleep next to your bed
• The penguin belly-slides on ice

• It works in modpacks. Feel free to include it.
• The mod needs to be installed on both client and server when you play multiplayer.

How to install on a server

1. Create a new server with BisectHosting.
2. Select Minecraft 26.3 and Fabric as the server type.
3. Start the server once so all files generate, then stop it.
4. Upload Tamagotchi and Fabric API into the mods folder.
5. Start the server.
6. Install the same two mods on your client.

⚠️ The mod must be installed on both client and server, and both must run the same Minecraft version.

Is there a Forge version? No. Tamagotchi is a Fabric mod and needs Fabric API.

Can I use it in my modpack? Yes, please do.

Are the pets guaranteed? No. Each structure only has a chance to hold its pet, so explore more structures!

What happens when my pet is defeated? Tamed pets never die. They faint into a Tama Egg that keeps everything, and you can wake them up again.
