About

Description

Tannery Craft is a realistic addition to Minecraft that completely changes hunting, material processing, and early-game progression. Obtaining leather is now a multi-stage technological process, and you will need brand new components to craft advanced tools.

Game Changes & New Crafts

  • Advanced Tool Requirements: Starting from the Iron Tier (iron, diamonds, netherite), you can no longer use regular sticks to craft tools and weapons. Upgrade Sticks are now strictly required instead.

  • Upgrade Stick: Crafted on a crafting table using 2 regular sticks and 1 rope.

  • Book Recipe Tweak: Crafting a vanilla book now requires the fully processed leather from this mod.

  • Salt Deposits: A new salt ore and salt blocks now generate along the banks of rivers, lakes, and in warm biomes.

Leather Making Process (Tanning)

Forget about cows dropping ready-to-use leather instantly. To obtain vanilla Leather, you must complete a full processing cycle:

  1. Raw Hide: Drops upon killing cows or horses.

  2. Salted Hide: Combine a Raw Hide with Salt on a crafting table to preserve it and prevent rotting.

  3. Wet Salted Hide: Hold the salted hide in your hand and Right-Click on a water block to wash away the salt and soften the material.

  4. Drying: Hang the wet hide onto a new block — the Drying Rack — by Right-Clicking it. After some time, Right-Click again to harvest your finished vanilla Leather.
