Description
TBATEC brings the magic and the world of The Beginning After the End into Minecraft. You are born into a race, a mana core may awaken in you, and from there you refine it from Black to White, design your own spells, bind mana beasts by contract, and travel from the kingdoms of Dicathen to the floating realm of the asura.
An unofficial fan project. Not affiliated with or endorsed by TurtleMe or the publishers of The Beginning After the End.
Requirements
- NeoForge 21.1.209 or newer for Minecraft 1.21.1
- GeckoLib 4.9.3 or newer
- AttributeFix (which brings Bookshelf and Prickle with it)
- Optional: Patchouli for the in-game guidebook, JEI, Jade
Install it on the client and on the server.
Heritage
- Your first join opens the heritage menu: Human, Elf or Dwarf, or Feeling Lucky?, which gives a 10% chance of being born one of the eight asuran races (dragon, basilisk, pantheon, phoenix, titan, hamadryad, leviathan or sylph).
- The mana then rolls the rest: whether a core awakens, your elements, a rare gift, and your class.
- Each race plays differently. Elves see through their forest's mists, dwarves forge tougher gear, and every asura starts with a White core and a home on Mount Geolus.
- Your race shows on your own model: ears, horns, wings, fins, crests and marks.
The Mana Core
- A core grows by use, rank by rank: Black, Red, Orange, Yellow, Silver, White. Every point of mana you spend refines it, and the cores of slain mana beasts speed it along.
- Breaking through to a new colour takes a trial: an advancement that proves you are ready.
- When a core forms, it makes you an Augmenter (mana drawn inward: body and blade) or a Conjurer (mana shaped outward: ranged spells, barriers and fields).
Spellcraft
- The Spell Workshop lets you design your own spells. Pick a school (Fire, Water, Earth, Wind or Pure Mana) and a shape, then tune power, range, speed and duration as far as your core allows.
- Element arts, conjuration and deviant arts extend the list: ice, lightning, gravity, metal, magma, plant and sound. So do the gifts of Emitter (healing) and Diviner (foresight), and each asuran race's own art.
- Keep three loadout presets of spells and cast them with one key.
Mana Beasts
- 85 mana beasts, from E-class to Asura, each with its own model, animations, abilities and drops: thunder wolves, griffons, wyverns, flare hawks, the venator, the Ironhide Mammoth, guardian bears, the questing beast and many more.
- The Beast Glades grow deadlier the deeper you go, and Elders roam the deep.
- Companions: bind a beast by kindness (a Contract of Equals) or by force (Master-Servant). Level it, earn its loyalty, give it orders, breed it, and ride 18 of them, fliers included, each with two mount moves.
The World
- Dicathen across the overworld: the human kingdom of Sapin, the elven Forest of Elshire, the dwarven wastes of Darv with the Darv Abyss and Vildorial beneath them, and the Beast Glades to the east.
- 32 structures, among them Xyrus and its academy, Etistin, the Keeps of Sapin, the Wall, the Flying Castle, Zestier, Vildorial and the Dire Tombs.
- Teleport gates link the sites you have discovered.
- Epheotus, the hidden realm of the asura, reached with an Asura Sigil: a floating land around Mount Geolus, with Castle Indrath, the Everburn and the seats of the eight clans.
The People
- Elves, dwarves and the knights of Sapin guard their lands. The Quest Master posts bounties and trades.
- The asura of all eight races, townsfolk and warriors who fight with their race's arts, live at their clans' seats.
The Mage's Codex
With Patchouli installed, you get a guidebook on your first join. It has 145 entries covering every system, beast, site and item. JEI adds a page for every beast.
