Description
Tensura Reincarnated Traits
Tensura Reincarnated Traits expands the world of Tensura with a complete system of innate characteristics, inherited gifts, physical mutations, spiritual blessings, and personality-driven abilities.
Traits function similarly to skills, but represent qualities that are part of an entity’s nature. A trait might strengthen the body, protect the soul, improve magical affinity, or empower an entire family of named subordinates.
Players and compatible Tensura NPCs can be born with traits, acquire them later, inherit them from their parents, and manage toggleable traits through a dedicated interface integrated into the Tensura menu.
Trait Types
Traits are divided into two activation types:
- Passive – Toggle: Can be enabled or disabled from the Traits menu.
- True Passive: Always active and normally cannot be disabled.
True Passives can optionally be made toggleable through the configuration.
Player Traits
Players have a configurable chance to begin with traits when entering a world for the first time.
Server owners can configure:
- The overall chance that a player begins with a trait.
- The maximum number of starting traits.
- The individual starting chance of every trait.
- Whether traits can be acquired after spawning.
- Whether True Passive traits can be toggled.
- Whether traits can be obtained through compatible trait books.
When a player is born with a trait, an awakening message informs them of their new ability.
NPC Traits
Compatible Tensura NPCs can naturally spawn with traits of their own. This includes creatures and humanoids such as goblins, direwolves, lizardmen, dwarves, and other Tensura entities.
NPC trait generation includes:
- Configurable natural trait spawning.
- Individual spawn chances for every trait.
- A configurable maximum number of starting traits.
- Trait inheritance between NPC parents.
- Support for named subordinates and nested subordinate families.
- Administrative trait granting and removal.
Trait Inheritance
Newborn Tensura NPCs can inherit individual traits from their parents.
The default inheritance rules are:
- Both parents possess the trait: 85% inheritance chance.
- Only one parent possesses the trait: 25% inheritance chance.
Natural birth traits and inherited traits are rolled separately before the maximum-trait limit is applied.
Inheritance, natural birth rolls, and both inheritance percentages can be changed in the configuration.
Family Support Network
Support-oriented traits use a bidirectional family network.
This means support can travel through relationships such as:
- Namer → named subordinate
- Named subordinate → namer
- Subordinate → sibling subordinatenant
- Subordinate → nested subordinate
- Nested subordinate → higher family members
Support requires family members to be nearby and in the same dimension. By default, the range is 32 blocks and no more than two matching trait holders can contribute stacking bonuses to one recipient.
Both the support range and stacking limit are configurable.
Support-oriented traits include Family Oriented, Foot Soldier, Stern, Indulgent, Mighty, and Hearty.
Trait Interface
The mod adds a dedicated Traits section to the Tensura interface.
The menu provides:
- A searchable and scrollable trait list.
- Trait ownership indicators.
- Toggle controls for compatible traits.
- Detailed trait descriptions.
- Visual distinction between learned and unowned traits.
- Support for viewing and managing subordinate traits.
- Automatic support for newly added traits.
Named subordinates can also be inspected through the configurable subordinate-trait keybind, which defaults to Shift + T while targeting an eligible entity.
Administrative Tools
Creative-mode players and server administrators can directly manage traits for testing, storytelling, balancing, or custom NPC creation.
Administrative features allow traits to be:
- Granted to players.
- Granted to targeted NPCs.
- Removed from players or NPCs.
- Viewed without relying exclusively on chat commands.
- Obtained through the Creative inventory when the Skill Books integration is installed.
Mod Compatibility
Tensura: Reincarnated
The central dependency and foundation of the mod. Traits interact with Tensura attributes, spiritual health, magicules, EP, elemental affinities, named subordinates, damage types, and magical barriers.
Tensura Better Subordinates
Adds Traits directly to the Better Subordinates interface, allowing subordinate traits to be viewed and toggled from its management menu.
Better Subordinates is optional. Without it, targeted subordinate traits can still be accessed through the configurable keybind.
Tensura Skill Books
Adds trait study books to the Common Skills section of the Skill Books Creative inventory.
This allows Creative-mode players and administrators to acquire traits through physical books instead of entering commands.
Neo Otherworld and Jade
Trait information is integrated into Jade’s entity tooltip system alongside Neo Otherworld’s NPC information.
Looking at a player or compatible NPC can display:
- Every owned trait.
- Whether each toggleable trait is active or inactive.
- Tough’s current tier.
- Additional traits through Jade’s expanded-details mode.
Configuration
Nearly every major system is configurable, including:
- Player starting-trait chance.
- NPC trait generation.
- Individual player and NPC chances for every trait.
- Maximum starting traits.
- Natural newborn traits.
- One-parent inheritance chance.
- Two-parent inheritance chance.
- Post-spawn trait acquisition.
- True Passive toggling.
- Support-trait range.
- Support stacking limits.
- Tough’s maximum tier.
- Anomalous Core’s recovery period.
- Vicious Last Stand cooldown.
- Sword Saint uniqueness and succession.
