Terminal Arms — Gameplay Guide & FPS Optimization
Works with Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge 21.1.x This mod is fully standalone — no required libraries — and has been compatibility- and performance-tested inside large modpack environments.
Welcome to Terminal Arms! This is a heavy-adventure mod built around "the two mechanical leviathans of the End": loot the End Cities, duel two giant flying bosses inside floating mechanical fortresses, and upgrade from steam gear all the way to the Laser Warplate set. The ultimate fight — the Apex Mech Dragon — is a full ceremony: summoning kicks off a vocal-removed Dune: Part Two theme of about 3 minutes, and when the music ends the dragon appears 80 blocks above the fortress, descending while the sand floor collapses, 100 machines rain from the sky, the dragon patrols a fixed flight path, and when it dies it disintegrates mid-air with every reward delivered into a victory chest in the fortress's glass heart — including a one-of-a-kind item, the Heart of Daybreak. Please read on — good hunting!

1. Installation
- Install the NeoForge loader (a loader is the base that lets the game run mods; NeoForge is the successor of Forge for the 1.21.1 era). In your launcher (PCL / HMCL / official), download the mod loader NeoForge, version 21.1.x;
- Drop the latest Terminal_Arms jar (file name like
Terminal_Arms-x.y.z.jar) into themodsfolder of your game directory. When updating, delete the old jar first; - Launch the game. On your first entry into the End the fortress network starts building automatically and all fortress coordinates are pushed to chat; a warp-gate hub is also built at the outer-ring ferry (see section 4).
⚠️ Note: this jar is built for NeoForge — putting it into an old Forge client will refuse to start. Swap loaders if that happens.
2. How to Improve Your FPS
This mod was already optimized for high frame rates during development (restrained particle counts, render culling for the giant bosses, automatic particle halving on mobile). Reference test machine:
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i7-14650HX |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 |
| RAM | 32 GB (16 GB × 2) |
With HDR on, 2K resolution (2560 × 1440), no shaders: gameplay holds 120 fps as a floor, ~150 fps average, peaks near 250 fps; even the double-boss melees never drop below 120. If your PC is on par with this one, no manual tuning needed — install and play. Stronger machines can run shaders by default.
If your PC is weaker, follow the tiers below (far below tier 1 — please upgrade first):
<details> <summary>Tier 1 (entry level)</summary>
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i3-8100 / AMD Ryzen 3 2200G class (4C4T, single-core ≥ 3.0 GHz) |
| RAM | 8 GB DDR4 |
| GPU | Integrated (Intel UHD 630 / AMD Vega 8) or entry discrete (GT 1030 / RX 550, ≥ 2 GB VRAM) |
| Disk | SATA SSD (HDD causes severe stuttering) |
Strategy:
- Memory allocation: 3–4 GB (with 8 GB total, never allocate more than 4 GB).
- Video settings: render distance 6–8 chunks, simulation distance 5, graphics "Fast", smooth lighting / clouds / entity shadows off, particles "Minimal".
- During boss fights: both dragons are enormous — on weak PCs drop render distance 2 more levels, or use fortress walls as cover and fight at range.
- System: close all background apps, set Windows power plan to "High performance".
</details>
<details> <summary>Tier 2 (mainstream)</summary>
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i5-9400F / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 class (6+ cores, single-core ≥ 3.5 GHz) |
| RAM | 16 GB DDR4 |
| GPU | GTX 1650 / RX 580 (4–6 GB VRAM) |
| Disk | NVMe SSD |
Strategy:
- Memory allocation: 6–8 GB (keep 8 GB for the system).
- Video settings: render distance 10–12, simulation distance 8, graphics "Fast" or "Fancy", smooth lighting off, clouds "Fast".
- Shaders: not recommended; if unavoidable use a lightweight pack (e.g. Complementary Reimagined low preset).
- Optional client mods (save-data safe): Embeddium (rendering) + FerriteCore (memory).
</details>
<details> <summary>Tier 3 (advanced)</summary>
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i5-12400F / AMD Ryzen 5 5600 class (6C12T, single-core ≥ 4.0 GHz) |
| RAM | 16 GB DDR4-3200 or 32 GB |
| GPU | RTX 3050 / RTX 2060 / RX 6600 (6–8 GB VRAM) |
| Disk | NVMe SSD |
Strategy:
- Memory allocation: 8–10 GB (16 GB systems) or 10–12 GB (32 GB systems).
- Video settings: render distance 12–16, simulation distance 10, graphics "Fancy", smooth lighting on, clouds "Fancy".
- Shaders: medium packs (Complementary Shaders, BSL medium presets) run fine on ≥ 6 GB VRAM.
- Optional JVM flags:
-XX:+UseG1GC -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50to reduce long-session stutters.
</details>
<details> <summary>Tier 4 (high-end, includes the reference machine and above)</summary>
| Component | Specification |
|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i7-12700K / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D or better (8C16T+, single-core ≥ 4.5 GHz) |
| RAM | 32 GB DDR4 / DDR5 |
| GPU | RTX 3060 / RTX 4060 / RX 6700 XT or better (≥ 8 GB VRAM) |
| Disk | NVMe SSD (PCIe 4.0 recommended) |
Strategy:
- Memory allocation: 10–12 GB (32 GB system); keep 20 GB for the OS — allocating everything to the game makes it laggier.
- Video settings: render distance 16–20, simulation distance 12, everything maxed, ambient occlusion on.
- Shaders: high-end packs (Photon, SEUS PTGI low/medium) hold 100+ FPS at 1080p.
- Frame cap: set max FPS slightly above your monitor refresh (144 Hz → 150) to avoid useless GPU load.
</details>
Playing Java Edition on phone/tablet: this mod already halves particles on mobile; set render distance 6–8, clouds and entity shadows off, and in launchers like Zalith allocate roughly half of your device RAM.
3. What to Do in This World — Overall Route
Two mechanical elder gods sleep in the outer End. The full route (there is also a Quest Manual book in-game, auto-granted on first join, with a quest line in the Advancements tab):
- End City loot: after beating the Ender Dragon, find the Terminal Core in an End City chest (not craftable; also works with "larger/better End cities" mods — their chests roll it too) → advancement "End City Spoils"
- Cogwheel duel: enter a Cogwheel Fortress (3 of them), hold the Terminal Core and right-click → summon the Terminal Mech Dragon
- Get the core: the dragon always drops the Apex Summon Core → advancement "Gears Stopped Turning"
- The final fight: enter a Daybreak Fortress (2 of them), hold the Apex Summon Core and right-click → summon the ultimate boss, the Apex Mech Dragon (~130 blocks long)
- Spoils: defeat it and the victory chest in the center glass house holds 3 beacons + 5 totems of undying + 1 Heart of Daybreak, plus ~2900 XP → advancement "Daybreak Falls"
That is the single goal of the End; the two advancement lines are your checklist.
4. Warp Gates, Glass Safe Houses & Getting Around
- On first End entry all fortress coordinates are pushed to chat (3 Cogwheel + 2 Daybreak, spread over the 400–1200 block outer ring); click a coordinate to copy it;
- Always enter fortresses through the warp gate: at the outer-ring ferry (~(104, ~45, 0), glowing door frames visible from the main island's outskirts) stand 5 warp gates, one per fortress. Hold an Ender Pearl and right-click a gate frame (costs 1 pearl) and you land straight inside the target fortress's center glass house, with the vanilla enderman-teleport sound;
- 🔒 The gates cannot be destroyed: in survival the frames and the centre end rod are unbreakable (mining them shows a protection toast) and no explosion — not even the Apex Dragon's — can blow them up; if they are ever removed in creative or by another mod's world editing, the mod self-checks every 5 seconds and grows the missing pieces back exactly as built. There is no way to end up with "pearls but no gate";
- ⚠️ Lag warning: every other way of covering that distance — e.g. flying hundreds of blocks on an elytra into a fortress — causes obvious lag and frame drops: the giant boss structures plus every entity load into view at once; low-end machines turn into slideshows. Pearls are cheap, FPS is not — use the gates;
- Nearing a Daybreak Fortress from the field (within 180 blocks past the wall — elytra flight or an incoming pearl both count; you are warned the moment the fortress enters view) prints a one-shot red warning in chat: do not barge in, it causes terrible lag. It re-fires when you leave the outer zone and approach again, or when you near the other Daybreak Fortress. Cogwheel Fortresses never warn (their load is manageable). Arriving through the warp gate is the proper entrance and never warns;
- ⚠ The 20-second rule: after warping into a Daybreak Fortress, do not move or interact for at least 20 seconds — stand still until the chunk-loading lag fully stops before taking off or opening chests. The whole fortress floor + house + entities loading at once makes those first seconds the heaviest window;
- At the exact center of every fortress stands a fully enclosed 9×9 glass safe house (one-block entrance on the south face, lit by end rods inside):
- Nothing ever spawns inside, and minion waves cannot break in — flee into the house when overwhelmed; even the flying drones bounce off the glass;
- A reward chest sits in a corner: 10 Healing Potions per fortress (one stock, it does not refill — don't walk in empty-handed expecting farming);
- The floor is purpur blocks: it never falls with the sand, is unbreakable in survival, explosion-proof, and regrows every 5 seconds if removed in creative — the house is always a safe platform during the collapse;
- Summoning bosses from inside the house is fully legal (the matching fortress type is still required): Cogwheel → Terminal Mech Dragon, Daybreak → Apex Dragon, zero running needed;
- In Daybreak sites, when the sand collapses the pad under the glass house never falls — the house is the last platform of the whole arena;
- Each boss type has several fortresses so fights are repeatable: one boss per fortress at a time — after a kill, move to the next fortress or wait for the sand to rebuild.
5. Flight & Hover (mod signature)
The old "chestplate or elytra, never both" dilemma is solved — they fuse:
- Holding a vanilla elytra, sneak + right-click on the Laser Warplate Chestplate (or the reverse): the elytra merges into the plate and wing crests unfold on your back;
- The fused chestplate glides by itself: press Space off the ground to launch; fireworks boost as usual;
- Enchantments from both merge automatically without conflicts (protection and elytra curses coexist);
- While gliding, hold S (mobile: pull the stick back) = mid-air hover, locked altitude — the core mechanic for fighting the flying bosses;
- Sneak + right-click the fused plate anytime to detach the elytra (merged enchantments stay on the plate).
Both mechanical leviathans are confined to their fortress airspace, 40 blocks max: hovering against the 40-block ceiling is a very safe firing perch against the Apex.
6. Gear Progression (three lines, all vanilla-enchantment compatible)
| Line | How to get | Key pieces |
|---|---|---|
| Steam (start) | craft from copper gears + steam parts | Steam Hammer Spear (charge slam), Steam Saw Blade (sustained shred) |
| Electric (mid) | crafting | Arc Lance, Railgun Sword, Electric Exo set (DEF 23, −35% damage), Energy Shield Module |
| Laser (endgame) | crude gold from End Cities → smelt pure ingots + laser focus prism | Apex Laser Edge, Laser Piercer Spear, Laser Repeater Bow, Laser Aegis, Laser Warplate set (DEF 27) |
Notes:
- The Repeater Bow needs no arrows: tap right-click to quick-fire, hold to charge the "Apex Cannon"; it takes Power/Punch/Flame and can be enchanted at the table;
- Warplate boots: +12% speed always, another +30% while sprinting;
- Equipment renders with its own armor textures, not generic netherite;
- Every weapon and armor piece follows the vanilla enchantment system; check exact recipes in JEI (if installed).
7. Terminal Mech Dragon (first boss)
- 500 HP, three phases, blue boss bar; awakens and flies only inside Cogwheel Fortresses.
- Weak spots: head and torso — its hitbox covers the whole body, so wings and tail count too; no "empty swings that deal nothing".
- Electric weapons ×1.6 damage (arc lance / railgun), steam ×1.3 — bring the electric line.
- Its breath telegraphs with a loud arc-charge sound; strafe to dodge.
- Phase 3 red bar = Gear Storm: constant damage across the arena — kill it fast from range, never tank it.
- Drone steam bolts and gear swarms harass you: the exo set plus an Energy Shield Module in your inventory (absorbs 40 damage first) holds the line. Every non-boss minion now hits like a vanilla zombie (3 base damage) and never inflicts debuffs.
- It and its minions never throw potions — splash potions are the Apex's exclusive trick, not something you juggle here.
8. Apex Mech Dragon (ultimate boss)
- The ultimate boss: 950 HP, three phases, ~130 blocks long, body 1.4× wider than its predecessor (length and height unchanged), yellow boss bar; awakens and flies only inside Daybreak Fortresses.
- The summoning ceremony: right-click the Apex Summon Core inside the fortress (the glass house counts):
- The ground trembles and a vocal-removed Dune: Part Two awakening theme starts playing right in your ears — the countdown lasts exactly as long as the music (about 3 minutes; it persists across restarts and the summon core is never wasted); small waves of minions charge in from the rim — use this time to reposition, drink potions and stack buffs;
- When the music ends, the dragon appears 80 blocks above the fortress floor and begins a 40-second slow descent. It does not attack while descending — pure spectacle;
- During the same 40 s: the entire two-layer sand floor collapses outward from the center into the void (the house pad stays);
- Still in those 40 s: unless the difficulty is Peaceful, 100 mod machines (gear swarms / steam drones) rain from the sky, spread across the whole fortress — floor collapsing, legion falling, dragon descending, all at once;
- At 40 s the dragon reaches cruise altitude and the fight properly begins.
- Fixed patrol (the soul of the fight): the dragon flies its own route and nothing else — 2 laps around the fortress rim, back to the center, hover 40 s, out for 2 laps again, looping forever. Spotting a player never changes the path, only the aim. So you read its attack telegraphs, not its positioning — and the center-hover window is your best DPS phase.
- Attacks: laser sweep (ignites along the beam), triple laser volley, splash damage potions (the only mob in the mod that lobs them — strafe the moment you see the arc), and minion summons (capped at 10 alive).
- Weak spots: the torso is fully covered and the swung-out head has its own hit-relay — aiming at the skull really bleeds it.
- Laser weapons ×2 damage; non-mechanical gear only ×0.6 — finish the laser line before challenging.
- Death settlement: when killed by a player, the dragon disintegrates mid-air for ~10 seconds (rising, wrapped in end-crystal particles, then bursting apart). Then everything resolves at once:
- every mod minion in the fortress powers down and dies;
- all players inside the fortress are teleported back into the center glass house (so nobody falls through the collapsed sand);
- a victory chest appears in the house (with the advancement fanfare + level-up chime): 3 beacons + 5 totems of undying + 1 Heart of Daybreak;
- ~2900 XP rains as orbs right onto the house floor.
- Loot — Heart of Daybreak: right-click any living creature (villager, animal, monster, even a boss) to grant it immortality: no damage source except a player's own hand can kill it — mobs, explosions, fire, fall, void, poison, all useless. The mark is saved on the creature, survives restarts, and works on other mods' mobs too (Create, Mo' Creatures, and the rest of your pack — all compatible). One heart per dragon kill.
- Survival checklist:
- Full Laser Warplate (−45% damage, knockback immune); boots make landing footwork faster;
- Laser Aegis cuts frontal hits to 15% and refunds energy on block;
- Energy Shield Module in inventory: absorbs the first 40 damage of any hit;
- Punch/Power on the repeater bow — a full-charge "Apex Cannon" is your biggest single-shot burst;
- Hover (S) against the 40-block ceiling: the Apex cannot fly below you and its sweeps miss;
- When cornered, retreat into the center glass house (no spawns, the floor cannot be broken or fall, healing potions stocked).
- After the Apex dies, the sand rebuilds (outside-in, ~20 s) and the fortress can be summoned into again.
- Frame-rate note: the 40-second skyfall keeps up to 100 minions alive — the heaviest scene in the mod. On weak devices keep render distance 6 chunks or less before challenging (section 2).
9. Controls Quick Reference
| Action | Input |
|---|---|
| Launch gliding | Space while airborne |
| Mid-air hover | Hold S while gliding (mobile: pull stick back) |
| Fireworks boost | vanilla: hold rocket, right-click |
| Fuse / detach elytra | sneak + right-click |
| Warp into a fortress | ferry hub (~104, ~45, 0), hold an Ender Pearl + right-click a gate frame (1 pearl) |
| Summon a boss | inside the matching fortress (or its glass house), right-click the summon item; the Apex descends when its awakening theme ends |
| Copy a coordinate | click it in chat |
| Re-read the manual anytime | press H (default; rebindable in Controls) — works even if you died and lost the book |
| Quest book | the Quest Manual in your inventory (9 pages; the H key is announced on first world entry) |
Touch screens work just as well; particles are auto-halved on mobile to protect your framerate.
10. Compatibility & Standalone Operation
- No required libraries — drop it into
modsalone and it runs; - Environment: Minecraft 1.21.1 + NeoForge 21.1.x;
- Tested against large modpack scenarios (Create and other mainstream mods do not conflict); End City loot also injects into "larger/better End city" mod chests;
- The Heart of Daybreak immortality mark and the boss hit-relay mechanics work on other mods' mobs as well;
- No vanilla loot tables are modified, so it never collides with other packs' loot edits.

- 安装 NeoForge 加载器(加载器:给游戏装模组的底座,NeoForge 是 1.21.1 时代 Forge 团队的后继项目):打开启动器(PCL / HMCL / 官方启动器均可),在下载模组加载器处选择 NeoForge,版本 21.1.x;
|---|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i7-14650HX |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 |
| RAM | 32 GB(16GB×2) |
| 硬盘 | SATA SSD(机械硬盘会导致严重卡顿) |
</details>
NVMe SSD |
- 内存分配:分配 6-8 GB(16GB 整机内存下,保留 8GB 给系统)。
- 优化模组(可选,均为客户端模组,不影响存档):Embeddium(渲染优化)+ FerriteCore(内存优化)。
</details>
NVMe SSD |
</details>
| 硬盘 | NVMe SSD(建议 PCIe 4.0) |
</details>
- 首次进入末地时,聊天栏会自动推送全部要塞坐标(齿轮要塞 ×3、极昼要塞 ×2,分布在末地外环 400~1200 格环带),点击坐标可复制到剪贴板;
- 进要塞请务必走折跃门:末地外环渡口(约 (104, ~45, 0),进末地沿主岛外围就能看到发光门框群)立着 5 座折跃门,对应 5 座要塞。手持末影珍珠对着门框右键(每次消耗 1 颗珍珠),白光一闪直接落到目标要塞中心的玻璃房里,附带原版末影人传送音效;
- ⚠️ 卡顿警告:除折跃门外,任何方式长途进入要塞(例如鞘翅一口气飞几百格)都会明显卡顿掉帧——巨型 Boss 建筑与全场实体同时进入视野,低配机器甚至会卡成幻灯片。珍珠便宜,帧数贵,请优先走门;
- 用鞘翅或末影珍珠从野外逼近极昼要塞外围(城墙外扩 180 格——要塞刚进视野就会弹,留足掉头时间)时,聊天栏会立刻弹一条红字警告"不要擅自闯入,否则特别卡顿";离开外围后再靠近、或靠近另一座极昼要塞都会再提醒一次。齿轮要塞不弹(那边卡顿可控)。走折跃门属正门,落地不重复警告;
- ⚠ 落地 20 秒法则:传送至极昼要塞后不要立刻移动或做其他交互行为——原地站至少 20 秒,等区块加载的卡顿完全过去再起飞/开箱。整段要塞地面加房子加实体同时进入视野,前几秒就是最卡的窗口期;
- 屋内永不刷怪,小怪潮也冲不进来——打不过就退回屋里,飞行无人机同样撞不进玻璃墙;
- 屋角摆着奖励箱:每座要塞一份 10 瓶治疗药水(一次性补给,拿完不刷新,别空手进屋硬抗);
- 地板是紫珀块:不会随塌沙坠进虚空、生存模式挖不掉、爆炸炸不坏,被创造拆了每 5 秒自动长回——塌沙期间玻璃房永远是安全落脚点;
- 在屋里召唤 Boss 完全合法(依旧要求人处在对应类型的要塞里):齿轮要塞召终焉机械龙、极昼要塞召机龙皇,一格都不用跑;
- 极昼要塞塌沙演出时,玻璃房脚下的沙台不塌——房子就是全场最后的落脚台;
- 手持原版鞘翅对着激光战铠·胸甲 潜行+右键(或反过来),鞘翅并入胸甲,背部展开机翼纹章;
- 融合后胸甲本身即可滑翔:离地按 空格 起飞,烟花火箭推进照常用;
- 两边的附魔自动合并、互不冲突(胸甲的 protection 和鞘翅的附魔都保留);
- 滑翔时按住 S 键(手机:向后拉摇杆)= 空中悬停定高,松开继续滑翔——打飞行 Boss 的核心技巧;
- 迭射激光弓不用箭:轻点右键速射,按住蓄力放"极昼炮",可上力量/冲击/火焰等弓类附魔,也能在附魔台上直接附魔;
- 激光战铠靴:常驻移速 +12%,疾跑再 +30%;
- 装备穿在身上显示专属装备图样,不是下界合金的通用外观;
Boss)
Boss)
- 大地震颤,《沙丘2》苏醒主题曲(纯音乐、已消人声)立刻在你耳边奏响——从响起至播完就是苏醒倒计时(约 3 分钟;进度会存档,重启不掉、召唤核也不会白丢);期间小怪从四周分批冲向中心,拿来走位、喝药水、攒状态;
- 曲终之刻:龙皇在要塞地板上方 80 格高空现身,开始 40 秒缓缓下潜——下潜期间它不打你,纯粹演出;
- 同这 40 秒里:整个要塞的双层浮沙从中心向四周塌落进虚空(中心玻璃房脚下不塌);
- 还是这 40 秒:只要不是和平难度,100 只本模组机械兽(齿轮蜂群/蒸汽无人机)从高空分散坠入整座要塞——地面清空、天降军团、龙在下潜,三件事同时上演;
- 要塞内所有本模组小怪同时停机暴毙;
- 要塞内所有玩家被自动接回中心玻璃房(不怕脚下沙已塌空);
- 玻璃房内生成胜利奖励箱(带《进度达成》号角+升级金铃音效):信标 ×3 + 不死图腾 ×5 + 极昼之心 ×1;
- 全套激光战铠(45% 减伤 + 免疫击退),靴子让你落地跑位更快;
- 偏导盾正面格挡只剩 15% 伤害,格挡成功还能回储能;
- 能量护盾模块放背包:受伤先由护盾吸 40 点;
- 迭射弓附力量/冲击——满蓄力"极昼炮"是单体最高爆发;
- 悬停(S)贴着 40 格天花板:龙皇飞不到你下面,横扫更难命中;
- 不需要任何前置模组,单独放进 mods 文件夹即可运行;
- 环境:Minecraft 1.21.1 + NeoForge 21.1.x;
- 已按大型整合包场景测试兼容(机械动力等主流模组不冲突);末地城宝箱战利品已兼容"更大更好的末地城"类模组;
- 极昼之心的永生标记、Boss 判伤等机制对整合包里其他模组的生物同样生效;
