Description
Ever wanted to make TerraFirmaCraft have those nice feelings of coming home to a warm fireplace after a long cold night or maybe the relaxing feeling of finding an oasis in the desert and cooling yourself in it? Well this is the mod for you. It adds a body temperature system and some ambiental tweaks to the world to go with it.
Older versions can be found here https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/tfc-ambiental
- This mod will keep you on your toes figuring out how to cool/heat yourself properly but without the constant pain of similar mods.
- The default TFC blocks and environmental systems are implemented.
- Configurable, but not able to add custom block/item modifiers without access to the Java API. TFC has a delicate environment with finite fuels etc. so custom modifiers should be added in a more involved fashion.
How to use the mod? Here you go
General:
- Basic: Stay between 0 and 30 degrees, as close to 15 as possible. Keep you temperature arrow as white as possible.
- Potency: The speed at which you lose/gain heat is affected by the blocks around, the humidity etc. The potency is lowered the closer you are to the target temperature.
- Modifiers - Everything in the mod has a modifier that has a heat value (positive or negative) and a potency value affecting how fast their heat changes your temperature.
- Environment - Areas in TFC have their own temperature based on season and location. Low potency but based on humidity.
- Weather - Being out in the weather will bring your temperature down rapidly, but even when inside during a storm there is a temperature decrease. Medium potency added
- Time of day - The temperature is higher during the day, lower during the morning and the evening, and cold during the night. Zero potency added.
- Liquids - Water cools you off and spring water (or lava if you are desperate) will heat you up. Very high potency added.
- Shade - A roof over your head in the scorching sun will do wonders, a helmet of any sort will also help protect you from direct sunlight. Moderate insulation.
- Health - Being hydrated helps with the heat and being well fed helps with the cold. No insulation
- Diet - Fruits and veggies help with the summers' heat while meats and grains help with winter's cold. No insulation.
- Underground - The temperature in mines right below the surface is rather cold but gets warmer the deeper you go. Low potency added
- Fires - Different sources of heat such as fire pits and forges can help you with the cold. They are more effective the closer you are to them. No potency added.
- Items - Items that are heated in TFC devices like ingots or pottery will also heat you up. Small potency added
- Clothes (NEW) - You have wool and leather clothes to warm you up and Silk/Burlap clothes to cool you down, different levels of insulation.
When it is Hot Outside:
- Shade - Sit under a tree or under a roof. Those sun rays will burn you up.
- Thirst - Make sure to be well hydrated so that you can beat the heat naturally.
- Hat - Have a hat of any kind on your head to block the sun if you are outside. (the best early game option is the straw hat)
- Water - If there is an emergency, find some cold water and jump in it to cool yourself quickly before going back in the sun.
- Diet - Eating lots of fruits and vegetables during the hotter seasons improves your ability to cool yourself passively.
- Cellar - Try to do your at-home business in a place underground below y = 135 while the sun is up.
- Work - Try not to sprint all the time, keep away from forges or craft yourself an apron when working with hot devices.
- Nocturnal - If you are going exploring, do it in the evening or in the morning when the sun isn't as powerful. Make sure to get plenty of water, fruits and a helmet!
- Altitude - The temperature is lower the higher you are, so if you live in a tropical or hot area, try to build your home on a hill or mountain.
When it is Cold Outside:
- Cozy - Have a nice home or shelter with a well build roof and plenty of light to not feel the cold when inside.
- Clothes - Make sure to get yourself some wool/leather clothes by fall's end or it will be hard for you (leather is much easier to obtain, but wool keeps you warmer).
- Food - Keep well fed to heat yourself naturally.
- Diet - Eating lots of grain and meat during the colder seasons improves your ability to heat yourself passively.
- Fire - Different fire sources will heat you up: fire, fire pits, charcoal forges, bloomeries, lamps - all only when on, with fuel and heated up. They are more effective indoors.
- Hot Springs - In case of emergencies or for relaxation, hop in the TFC hot springs to heat yourself up. Find a natural spring and build yourself a sauna ;)
- Snow - Make sure to plow the snow around your house if it's getting too cold to manage.
- Items - If you are going outside, one thing you can do is keep a few hot ingots in your inventory to help you for a short while.
- Diurnal - If you are going exploring, do it in during the day when the sun is powerful. Make sure to get plenty of bread, meat and armor!
- Altitude - The temperature is lower the higher you are, so if you live in a tundra or freezing cold area, try to build your home on sea level, mountain tops are dangerous in winter.
Clothes:
- Insulated leather - Made from leather armor and string, best choice for your first winter set
- Wool - Made from wool cloth, which is harder to obtain in larger quantities, is a strong but expensive winter set
- Silk - Made from silk cloth, made from spider silk string, cools you down and provides some insulation
- Burlap - Made from burlap cloth, made from jute fiber, cools you down less than the silk counterpart, but insulates better
