Description
The Engineer's Toolkit
Copy machine, pipe and storage settings, save your favourite configurations, and reuse them across your builds.
The Configuration Gadget helps configure supported machines, factories, pipes, conduits and storage. Keep up to five named presets and switch between them in game.
Minecraft 1.21.1 · NeoForge
Current release: 1.3. Download the latest release.
What's new in 1.3
- Adds copy and paste support for Sophisticated Storage and Functional Storage.
- For supported storage blocks, copies locks, settings and installed upgrades without copying stored resources. Items already in the destination stay there.
- Functional Storage support includes regular and framed item drawers, fluid drawers and Ender drawers. Drawer lock state is copied without replacing the destination drawer's remembered item. Supported puller and pusher upgrades copy their facing direction, and linked Storage Controller information is copied.
- Ender drawers use the source frequency after paste. This joins the destination to that shared frequency, so items already stored on it may become visible there.
- The saved-preset screen now matches the in-game guide.
- When a paste is incomplete, the gadget reports missing items or settings it could not apply. Open Last report to review the latest result again.
What it does
- Copies supported machine controls, side settings, filters and priorities.
- Saves up to five configurations with names you choose.
- Adapts supported pipe settings to the destination connection, including extraction on a different side.
- Installs supported upgrades, capacitors, filters and cards from your inventory. Supported items can also be fetched from a linked AE2 ME network while you are within wireless range.
- Copies supported AE2 patterns using blank patterns from your inventory.
- Applies the settings it can when a required item is missing, and reports anything it could not apply.
- Returns replaced items to your inventory, dropping them at your feet if your inventory is full.
- Adds machine controls for supported Industrial Foregoing machines, the Souls Soul Laser Base and selected MIFA addons.
- Uses the linked AE2 Wireless Access Point's range, standard boosters and supported AEInfinityBooster cards. A Quantum Network Bridge can reach a local Wireless Access Point in another dimension when the network is connected.
- Includes a searchable in-game guide with a configurable key, plus short and detailed gadget tooltips in inventories and JEI.
The gadget copies configuration. Stored resources, energy, ownership and running crafting jobs stay with their original blocks. Drawer contents are never copied, and destination contents are preserved. Some settings and upgrades may be skipped when they cannot be applied safely.
How to use it
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Shift + right-click a supported block | Copy its settings into the selected preset |
| Right-click a compatible block | Paste the selected settings |
| Right-click empty air | Open the preset menu |
| Shift + right-click empty air | Clear the selected preset's stored settings |
Choose a preset in the menu and give it a name to help you remember its purpose. Clearing stored settings keeps the preset's custom name.
For pipes and AE2 parts, aim at the connection or part you want to configure.
Supported integrations
These integrations are optional. The supported settings depend on the specific device and installed mod version.
- Mekanism and Mekanism Extras — machine settings, factory sorting, upgrades and supported pipe or cable connections.
- Applied Energistics 2 — supported parts and devices, filters, priorities, cards and pattern copying. Selected devices from ExtendedAE, AdvancedAE, MEGA Cells, ME Requester, Applied Mekanistics, Applied Flux, Applied Pneumatics, AppliedE and Applied Soul are also supported.
- Pipez — connections, filters and upgrades.
- Industrial Foregoing — supported machine controls, filters, the Souls Soul Laser Base and selected MIFA addons.
- Ender IO — machine settings, capacitors, conduit connections and filters.
- Sophisticated Storage — supported storage settings, locks and upgrades.
- Functional Storage — regular and framed item drawers, fluid drawers and Ender drawers, including supported locks, upgrades, directions and controller links.
Coverage varies by device. Network pairing, wireless bindings, storage contents and active crafting work remain local to their original devices unless a feature explicitly copies a setting such as an Ender drawer frequency.
Requirements

Report a bug
Use this project's Issues tab and check whether the problem has already been reported.
Please include what happened, what you expected, steps to reproduce it, and the versions of The Engineer's Toolkit, Minecraft, NeoForge and affected mods. Mention whether you are playing singleplayer or on a server, and include your modpack's name and version if applicable.
Screenshots and relevant logs help. For a crash, attach the matching crash report and logs/latest.log if available. Reports are public, so check attachments for private details before posting.
For inventory-related problems, mention which upgrades, capacitors, filters, cards or blank patterns you had available. For pipe problems, show how the pipes connect to the machines.
You can still submit a report if you cannot provide every detail.
For mod authors
The Engineer's Toolkit provides a compatibility API and data definitions so other mods can add support for their own configurable blocks. Additional integrations can also be developed within the toolkit.
Developer Kit 1.3
Download the Developer Kit for Toolkit 1.3. It is also listed as an additional file on CurseForge.
The kit contains the integration guide, JSON definition format, API v1 source reference and HTML documentation, compatibility notes, and a working example with machine and pipe adapters. The independent example code is MIT-licensed so you can copy and adapt it for your own mod. The main Toolkit mod remains All Rights Reserved.
The API is already included in the normal mod JAR. Developers should extract the ZIP and start with README.md; players only need the mod JAR. Do not put the developer ZIP or API source attachment in your mods folder.
