The New Hydra has arrived on 1.20.1

The Hydra, also known as "The Dweller King", is a terrifying cave dweller originally created by Flamc04 and recreated by Azenski.

This is a faithful 1.20.1 Forge port of The Hydra: Reborn (1.19.2), bringing the full experience to modern Minecraft.

Stalk. Stare. Chase. Flee.

The Hydra is not just another mob — it watches you.

• Stare Mode — If you look at it, it freezes. Look away and it moves.
• Chase Mode — Once it picks its target, it hunts relentlessly through caves and corridors.
• Flee Mode — Under certain conditions it retreats… but not for long.
• Stroll Mode — Wanders the depths, waiting for its next victim.

If you hear distorted cave noises echoing around you… it's already nearby.

• High quality GeckoLib model, textures and animations
• Real and remade sounds (chase, cave ambience, flee, spotted, disappear)
• Advanced dweller AI with multiple behaviour states
• Climbs walls and breaks down doors
• Detects when players are looking at it
• Disables shields on attack
• Fully configurable via server-side config (spawn timers, attributes, behaviour toggles)
• Spawns deep underground and optionally on the surface
• Biome whitelist/blacklist support via datapack or config
