The Lotus Atoll

The Lotus Atoll is a fishing-focused Minecraft mod designed to expand the vanilla fishing experience without losing the charm, simplicity, and progression that makes Minecraft feel like Minecraft. Explore new waters, discover dangerous sea creatures, improve your fishing equipment, search for valuable fishing hotspots, and build passive fishing farms with a brand-new net system.

Whether you enjoy relaxing by the water, collecting rare creatures, building farms, or pushing your equipment to the highest tier, The Lotus Atoll gives fishing a much deeper progression system while keeping everything feeling like it belongs in the vanilla game.

A New Way to Fish

Fishing in The Lotus Atoll is no longer as simple as throwing a line into any body of water and waiting. Every fishing trip requires bait, giving players a reason to prepare before heading out onto the water.

When you cast your rod, a timer appears above the fishing bobber, letting you see how long you have been waiting for your catch. Once something bites, reel it in and see what the water has given you.

There is also a 5% chance to fish up a live animal from the sea creature list whenever you catch a creature. Instead of simply receiving an item, you may find yourself pulling an actual creature out of the water!

Fishing Rod Progression

The original vanilla fishing rod has been replaced with a complete tiered progression system. Each material provides a different stage of equipment as you work towards the best fishing gear available.

  • Wooden Fishing Rod

  • Stone Fishing Rod

  • Copper Fishing Rod

  • Iron Fishing Rod

  • Gold Fishing Rod

  • Diamond Fishing Rod

  • Netherite Fishing Rod

Start with basic equipment and gradually work your way towards the strongest rods, giving fishing its own progression alongside the rest of Minecraft's tools and equipment.

Fishing Hotspots

Not all fishing locations are created equal.

Fishing Hotspots are special areas of water where fishing becomes significantly more rewarding. Finding and taking advantage of a hotspot can dramatically improve your fishing efficiency, providing:

  • Faster fishing speeds

  • Increased reward multipliers

  • Better opportunities to obtain valuable catches

  • A reason to explore and move around rather than fishing in the same location forever

Hotspots turn fishing locations into something worth searching for, rewarding players who explore the world and pay attention to where they cast their lines.

Fishing Nets

Want to fish without standing around waiting for every catch?

Fishing Nets provide a passive alternative to traditional fishing. Nets can be placed in suitable locations and left to work on their own, making them particularly useful for AFK and automated fishing farms.

While rods are ideal for active fishing and hunting for the best catches, nets provide a more passive way of gathering fishing resources. Build a network of nets and create your own dedicated fishing farm.

Bait

Fishing requires bait, making preparation an important part of every fishing trip. Only one bait can be active at a time, and bait is consumed when you successfully fish.

Different bait types specialise in different aspects of fishing, allowing players to choose their setup based on what they are trying to catch.

Worm Membrane

Worm Membrane is the basic ingredient needed to create bait. It can be obtained through the composter, making it accessible from the very beginning of a survival world with minimal requirements.

Minnow Bait

Minnow Bait increases fishing speed by 1.5×.

A simple and reliable choice for players who want to catch things more quickly without changing the rest of their fishing setup.

Worm Bait

Worm Bait increases fishing speed by 2×, making it an excellent choice when speed is the priority.

Light Bait

Light Bait provides +25% Sea Creature Chance (SCC) during the day.

Ideal for daytime fishing when you're specifically hunting for creatures rather than ordinary fishing rewards.

Dark Bait

Dark Bait provides +25% Sea Creature Chance during the night.

Head out after sunset and make the darkness work in your favour.

Spiked Bait

Spiked Bait provides +10% Sea Creature Chance, giving you a straightforward boost towards finding creatures.

Carrot Bait

Carrot Bait completely changes what happens when you hook a sea creature.

When a sea creature is caught, there is a 100% chance for it to become a random farm animal instead of a sea creature.

Perfect for players who would rather pull something fluffy out of the water than fight an underwater monster.

Corrupt Bait

Corrupt Bait gives you the chance to catch multiple copies of the same sea creature at once.

The deeper you get into creature hunting, the more valuable this bait can become.

Sea Creature Chance

Sea creatures are a major part of The Lotus Atoll's fishing system. Your Sea Creature Chance (SCC) determines your likelihood of encountering one of the special creatures lurking beneath the surface.

Certain bait and enchantments can increase your SCC, allowing dedicated anglers to build specialised fishing setups designed around creature hunting.

But be careful: not everything that comes out of the water is going to be friendly.

Sea Creatures

The Lotus Atoll adds a wide range of creatures to discover, from ordinary aquatic animals to enormous monsters and strange underwater variants.

Squid

A standard squid. Familiar, harmless, and one of the more common creatures you can encounter while fishing.

Cod

A standard cod.

Salmon

A standard salmon.

Giant Cod

A massive version of the cod with increased size, very high armour, and reduced gravity, making it considerably more formidable than its ordinary counterpart.

Tropical Fish

A standard tropical fish.

Pufferfish

A standard pufferfish.

Giant Salmon

An enormous salmon with increased size, very high armour, and reduced gravity.

Giant Pufferfish

A gigantic pufferfish with increased size, very high armour, and reduced gravity.

Sea Archer

An underwater skeleton equipped with a bow and specialised armour.

Sea Archers have Water Breathing, reduced gravity, and increased knockback, making them dangerous opponents when encountered underwater.

Sea Walker

An underwater zombie equipped with an iron sword and specialised armour.

Sea Walkers have Water Breathing, reduced gravity, and increased knockback, turning a familiar Minecraft enemy into a much more dangerous aquatic threat.

Guardian

A standard guardian.

Nautilus

A standard nautilus.

Giant Silverfish

An enlarged silverfish with increased armour and Water Breathing.

Its unusual aquatic abilities make this normally land-bound creature surprisingly dangerous underwater.

Elder Guardian

A giant elder guardian with increased size, very high armour, and reduced gravity.

Encountering one while fishing is certainly not the relaxing experience you might have been hoping for.

Snow Golem

An underwater snow golem with Water Breathing, Fire Resistance, and increased armour.

A bizarre creature to find beneath the waves, but one that has clearly adapted to its new environment.

Frogman

A strange frog-themed underwater creature wearing copper and diamond armour.

The Frogman has a frog-like face and high armour, making it one of the more unusual creatures you can pull from the depths.

The Pressure System

The deeper you go, the more dangerous the water becomes.

The Lotus Atoll introduces a brand-new Pressure System. Unlike vanilla Minecraft, simply having enough air isn't the only concern when exploring underwater.

Drowning happens faster the further down you travel in the world.

This means deep underwater exploration requires preparation. Travelling into the depths without suitable equipment can become increasingly dangerous, encouraging players to think carefully about how far they descend.

Pressure Resistance

The Pressure Resistance enchantment can be applied to helmets to reduce the effects of underwater pressure.

Each level reduces pressure loss, allowing properly equipped players to survive deeper underwater for longer.

With the right equipment, brave explorers can venture further into the depths and make the most of the treasures and creatures found below.

Enchantments

The Lotus Atoll adds several new enchantments designed around fishing, exploration, gathering, and underwater survival.

Shallow

Shallow is a fishing rod enchantment that reduces Sea Creature Chance by 1% per level.

  • Maximum Level: V

Useful for players who want to focus more heavily on regular fishing rewards rather than encounters with sea creatures.

Angler

Angler increases Sea Creature Chance by 5% per level.

  • Maximum Level: IV

  • Applies to: Fishing Rod

A powerful choice for players who actively hunt sea creatures.

Sweep

Sweep is an entirely different kind of enchantment.

Applied to an axe, Sweep allows you to right-click with the axe or hoe to clear multiple logs or leaves at once.

  • Maximum Level: III

  • Applies to: Axe

Perfect for clearing trees and vegetation quickly, especially when preparing areas for fishing infrastructure or building around the Lotus Atoll.

Magnet

Magnet increases the amount of experience gained while fishing.

  • Applies to: Fishing Rod

A useful enchantment for players who want their fishing trips to contribute more towards their experience levels.

Caster

Caster gives you a chance to use bait without consuming it.

  • Maximum Level: V

  • Applies to: Fishing Rod

  • Effect: 5% chance per level to avoid consuming bait

At higher levels, Caster can significantly improve bait efficiency, making it especially valuable for long fishing sessions.

Pressure Resistance

Pressure Resistance reduces how quickly pressure is lost while underwater.

  • Maximum Level: IV

  • Applies to: Helmet

Pair it with appropriate underwater equipment to explore the deepest parts of the world with much greater safety.

The Lotus Atoll Biome

At the centre of the mod is the Lotus Atoll, a brand-new biome filled with its own atmosphere, vegetation, wildlife, and opportunities for fishing.

The biome features distinctive Lotus Trees, creating a unique environment unlike the ordinary forests and oceans found throughout the vanilla world.

The Lotus Atoll is also home to plenty of wildlife, including creatures such as:

  • Frogs

  • Parrots

  • And many other mobs

Its natural environment makes it an excellent place to explore, build, fish, and establish a permanent base for your fishing operations.

The biome isn't simply a backdrop for the fishing mechanics. It provides a dedicated environment that ties together the mod's aquatic themes, wildlife, exploration, and progression.

Explore. Fish. Discover.

The Lotus Atoll is built around one simple idea: make fishing more interesting without making it feel like a completely different game.

Prepare your bait, find a hotspot, cast your upgraded rod, and watch the timer above your bobber. You might pull up an ordinary fish, discover a rare sea creature, catch an unexpected farm animal, or find yourself face-to-face with something far more dangerous.

For players who prefer automation, build fishing nets and create passive farms. For explorers, dive into the depths and battle strange aquatic creatures. For collectors, search for every sea creature and work your way through the fishing rod tiers. And for builders, settle down in the Lotus Atoll and turn the biome into your own fishing haven.

The water is waiting. Cast your line and see what comes up.

The Lotus Atoll

The Lotus Atoll is a fishing-focused Minecraft mod that expands the vanilla fishing experience with new fishing rods, bait, enchantments, sea creatures, biomes, fishing hotspots, passive fishing nets, and underwater mechanics.

Built around the idea of keeping the vanilla Minecraft feel, The Lotus Atoll adds depth and progression to fishing without turning it into an entirely different game. Whether you enjoy relaxing beside a river, hunting for rare creatures, building farms, exploring underwater environments, or simply collecting everything the mod has to offer, there is something waiting beneath the surface.

Fishing

Fishing is no longer as simple as throwing a line into the water and waiting.

Fishing now requires bait, giving you a reason to prepare before every fishing trip. Only one type of bait can be active at a time, and bait is consumed when you successfully fish.

When you cast your rod, a timer appears above the fishing bobber, allowing you to see how long your current cast has been active. Once something bites, reel it in and discover what you've caught.

There is also a 5% chance to fish up a live animal from the sea creature list when fishing. Instead of receiving a normal fishing reward, you could suddenly find yourself pulling an actual creature out of the water.

Rods

The vanilla fishing rod has been removed and replaced with a complete progression of fishing rods.

Players can work their way through seven different tiers:

  • Wooden Fishing Rod
  • Stone Fishing Rod
  • Copper Fishing Rod
  • Iron Fishing Rod
  • Gold Fishing Rod
  • Diamond Fishing Rod
  • Netherite Fishing Rod

Each material provides another step in your fishing progression, giving you a reason to upgrade your equipment as you advance through the game.

From a simple wooden rod at the beginning of your world to a powerful Netherite Fishing Rod for late-game anglers, fishing now has its own equipment progression.

Hotspots

Not every fishing location is equal.

Fishing Hotspots are special areas where fishing becomes faster and more rewarding. Finding a hotspot can greatly improve your fishing efficiency, making exploration worthwhile for dedicated anglers.

Hotspots provide:

  • Faster fishing speed
  • A multiplier to rewards
  • More efficient fishing sessions
  • A reason to explore for better fishing locations

Instead of settling down beside the nearest pond and fishing forever, you can search the world for better locations and make the most of your time.

Nets

If active fishing isn't your thing, Fishing Nets provide a completely different way to gather fishing rewards.

Nets are designed for passive and AFK fishing, making them particularly useful for players who want to create fishing farms. Place your nets in suitable locations and let them work while you focus on other things.

They provide an excellent alternative to actively holding a fishing rod and waiting for individual catches, especially when building larger-scale farms.

Bait

Every fishing trip requires bait.

Bait gives players control over how they approach fishing, allowing you to prioritise speed, sea creatures, daytime fishing, nighttime fishing, or unusual effects.

Only one bait can be active at a time, and the bait is consumed when you fish successfully.

Worm Membrane

Worm Membrane is the basic material used to create bait.

It can be obtained by using a composter, making it an accessible resource with very low requirements. This means that even early-game players can get started with the mod's bait system without needing rare resources.

Minnow Bait

Minnow Bait increases fishing speed by 1.5×.

A straightforward choice for anglers who want to catch things faster without changing their chances of encountering sea creatures.

Worm Bait

Worm Bait increases fishing speed by 2×.

If speed is your priority, Worm Bait provides a substantial boost and is ideal for players who want to maximise the number of casts they can make over time.

Light Bait

Light Bait provides +25% Sea Creature Chance (SCC) during the day.

It is designed specifically for daytime fishing and gives players an incentive to choose their bait according to the time of day.

Dark Bait

Dark Bait provides +25% Sea Creature Chance during the night.

Head out after sunset, equip your Dark Bait, and increase your chances of finding something unusual beneath the surface.

Spiked Bait

Spiked Bait provides +10% Sea Creature Chance.

A simple and reliable option for players who want a general increase in their chances of encountering sea creatures.

Carrot Bait

Carrot Bait completely changes the result of a sea creature catch.

Whenever you would catch a sea creature, there is a 100% chance that it will instead be a random farm animal.

Perfect for players who want to turn fishing into an unconventional source of livestock.

Corrupt Bait

Corrupt Bait introduces the possibility of catching multiple creatures of the same type at once.

Rather than receiving a single creature, you have a chance to bring in multiple copies of your catch, making Corrupt Bait particularly useful when hunting for specific creatures.

Sea Creatures

The Lotus Atoll introduces a large collection of sea creatures that can be encountered while fishing.

Your Sea Creature Chance (SCC) determines your chances of encountering these creatures. Bait and enchantments can be used to increase your SCC, allowing you to create specialised fishing setups focused on finding rare and dangerous creatures.

Some creatures are completely ordinary, while others are enormous, armoured, heavily equipped, or simply very strange.

Creature List

Squid

A standard squid.

Encountering one while fishing is considerably more dangerous than finding an ordinary catch.

Snow Golem

An underwater snow golem with Water Breathing, Fire Resistance, and increased armour.

Despite being a creature normally associated with snowy environments, this unusual variant is perfectly capable of surviving beneath the waves.

Frogman

A strange frog-themed underwater creature wearing copper and diamond armour.

The Frogman has a frog-like face and high armour, making it one of the most unusual creatures you can encounter while fishing.

Pressure

The Lotus Atoll introduces a new Pressure System for underwater exploration.

The deeper you travel, the more dangerous the water becomes.

Drowning happens faster the further down you are on the Y level.

This makes deep underwater exploration significantly more dangerous than simply managing your normal air supply. Players travelling into the depths will need to consider their equipment and plan their dives carefully.

The deeper you go, the more important proper preparation becomes.

Pressure Resistance

Pressure Resistance is a helmet enchantment designed to help with the new underwater pressure system.

Each level reduces how quickly you lose pressure, allowing you to remain underwater for longer periods of time and making deeper exploration considerably safer.

  • Maximum Level: IV
  • Applies to: Helmet

For players who regularly explore deep underwater areas, Pressure Resistance can become an essential part of their equipment.

Enchantments

The Lotus Atoll introduces several new enchantments, each designed to give players additional ways to customise their equipment.

Shallow

Shallow reduces your Sea Creature Chance by 1% per level.

  • Maximum Level: V
  • Applies to: Fishing Rod

This enchantment is useful for players who would rather focus on normal fishing rewards instead of encountering sea creatures.

Angler

Angler increases your Sea Creature Chance by 5% per level.

  • Maximum Level: IV
  • Applies to: Fishing Rod

Angler is the ideal enchantment for players who want to specialise in finding sea creatures.

Sweep

Sweep is a utility enchantment that can be applied to an axe.

Right-clicking with a Sweep-enchanted axe or hoe allows you to clear multiple logs or leaves at once.

  • Maximum Level: III
  • Applies to: Axe

It is especially useful when clearing forests, preparing building areas, or gathering large amounts of wood and leaves.

Magnet

Magnet increases the amount of experience gained while fishing.

  • Applies to: Fishing Rod

A useful enchantment for players who want their fishing sessions to contribute more towards their experience levels.

Caster

Caster gives you a chance to use bait without consuming it.

Each level provides a 5% chance for your bait to be used without being consumed.

  • Maximum Level: V
  • Applies to: Fishing Rod

At maximum level, Caster gives you a substantial chance to preserve your bait, making it particularly useful during long fishing sessions.

Pressure Resistance

Pressure Resistance reduces the rate at which underwater pressure is lost.

  • Maximum Level: IV
  • Applies to: Helmet

Combine it with your other underwater equipment to make deep exploration safer and more practical.

Lotus Atoll

The Lotus Atoll is a brand-new biome added by the mod.

It features its own unique environment, including distinctive Lotus Trees and a variety of wildlife. The biome is home to creatures such as frogs, parrots, and other mobs, giving it a lively atmosphere both above and below the water.

The Lotus Atoll isn't simply a place to fish. It is an area designed to explore, build in, and make your own.

Set up a fishing base among the Lotus Trees, establish fishing nets along the coastline, search the surrounding waters for hotspots, or simply explore the biome and see what you can find.

Exploration

The Lotus Atoll encourages players to explore both above and below the surface.

On land, the biome provides new scenery and wildlife. Beneath the water, the Pressure System makes depth itself a gameplay mechanic, while fishing hotspots and sea creatures give you reasons to investigate different bodies of water.

The deeper you go, the more prepared you need to be.

Bring the right bait, use the right rod, enchant your equipment, and keep an eye on your pressure before venturing too far into the depths.

Progression

The mod provides a natural progression for players who want to specialise in fishing.

Begin with a Wooden Fishing Rod, produce basic bait using easily obtainable Worm Membrane, and start exploring nearby waters.

As you progress through the game, upgrade your rod through Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and eventually Netherite.

Along the way, collect and apply powerful enchantments, discover better fishing hotspots, experiment with different bait types, and build Fishing Nets for passive production.

Eventually, you can create highly specialised fishing setups designed around exactly what you want to catch.

Vanilla Feel

Despite adding a large number of new mechanics, The Lotus Atoll is designed to retain the familiar feeling of Minecraft.

The systems are built around mechanics players already understand: fishing rods, enchantments, bait, biomes, mobs, exploration, farming, and progression.

Nothing is intended to completely replace the vanilla experience. Instead, the mod expands on one of Minecraft's quieter activities and gives fishing a reason to remain useful throughout your entire world.

Build Your Setup

There is no single way to play The Lotus Atoll.

Want to catch things as quickly as possible? Use Worm Bait or Minnow Bait.

Want to find sea creatures? Increase your SCC with Angler, Spiked Bait, or the appropriate time-based bait.

Want to fish at night? Dark Bait is built for you.

Want to collect farm animals? Use Carrot Bait.

Want multiple copies of your catches? Try Corrupt Bait.

Want to fish while doing something else? Build Fishing Nets.

Want to explore the deepest parts of the ocean? Equip a helmet with Pressure Resistance.

The choice is yours.

The Catch

From ordinary cod and salmon to giant fish, underwater monsters, armoured Frogmen, and bizarre Snow Golems, you never quite know what is waiting beneath the surface.

Find a hotspot, choose your bait, cast your upgraded fishing rod, and watch the timer above your bobber.

You could catch something completely ordinary.

You could find something rare.

Or you could pull something out of the water that absolutely should not be there.

The Lotus Atoll brings fishing to life while keeping the spirit of vanilla Minecraft intact.

Cast your line. Explore the depths. Discover what lies beneath.
