The Midnight Lurker (Unofficial Port)
📜 Original mod
This is an unofficial port of The Midnight Lurker 3.3.7 by Voxla, with Whirlygig and Z3R0TW0 (Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge, made with MCreator). The original is licensed under MIT, which allows derivative works; its license text and copyright are kept with the port. The mod, its art, models, sounds and story are the original authors'.
How this port differs from the original
- Runs on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge; the original is for 1.20.1 Forge. All of its content is kept.
- Less lag, reported for the original especially in the Nether (issues #23 and #25 of the original): the spawn checks are about 15 times faster with the same results, and the client spends about a third less time in the mod.
- More translations; the original's French, Italian, Icelandic, Japanese, Dutch and Portuguese (Portugal) translations are kept.
Something is watching you at night. Don't look back.
The Midnight Lurker by Voxla is a horror mod for Forge 1.20.1. This port brings all of its content to NeoForge 1.21.1, with the same behaviour, and fixes the lag players reported.

Features
- A stalker in many forms: the Lurker watches from a distance, hides underground until you look at it, runs away, turns its back, disguises itself as a villager, a cow or a pig, or attacks without warning; at night, in caves and in the Nether.
- Insanity: meeting it slowly drives you insane: an insanity bar, visual and sound effects, jumpscares and amnesia, void gateways and void hands.
- The Lurker's Insanity: the book from the outcast villager tells you how to keep your mind.
- Config:
config/midnightlurkerconfig.json(the same file as in 3.3.7): spawn rates, cave and Nether spawning, jumpscares, chase music, the insanity bar, amnesia, disguises, whether it can be killed; changes are picked up while the game runs. - Languages: English, Russian, Ukrainian, German, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil) complete; the original's French, Italian, Icelandic, Japanese, Dutch and Portuguese kept.
Versions
- 1.21.1 — NeoForge 21.1.197+, GeckoLib 4.9+, Java 21
Installation
- Put GeckoLib and the jar into
mods/on the server and on every client.
What was fixed
- Less lag (issues #23, #25 of the original): the spawn checks searched for entities in areas 700–1000 blocks wide many times per check, and the config file was read from disk in every check, every tick and every frame of the insanity bar. The port gets the same results with a short list of the mod's entities and a config read once: spawn checks about 15 times faster, a third less client time in the mod.
