A playable demo of the Stellar Remote: a remote with one red button under a flip cover, wired to The Shooting Star, a series of weapons hanging far out in the dark. This demo carries three of them.

SS-01 · Railgun

Flip the cover, press the button. A red laser from space marks the ground in your crosshair. The camera flies up the laser, past the Earth, past Saturn, out of the Solar System and the whole Milky Way, to a railgun hanging just past the galaxy's rim. It charges, fires, and you ride the beam home. It lands as a beam 200 blocks in radius that cuts the entire column of the world away, from the build limit to the void, and everything inside it is erased. (The skill menu's sliders set the radius from 10 to 1,500 blocks, and how hard it hits.) If you stand in the strike zone in survival, it takes you too. In creative you're evacuated into the sky first.

SS-03 · Gungnir

Your crosshair is marked in ember. Out at Jupiter, a black needle a kilometre long is loaded into an accelerator ring, spun up seven laps and flung at the Earth. It comes straight down out of the sky faster than its own sound, so it strikes in silence: a shock ring planes the land 400 blocks around flat into a molten crater (power 4× out of the box, from 0.1× to 20× on its slider), and only then does the boom arrive. Everything in the zone is erased, you too (you die) unless you're in creative, and the shock still throws and hurts whatever stands past it. The needle stays standing in the crater, from the bottom of the world to the build limit, and only a netherite pickaxe mines it back.

SS-04 · Seven Stars

The Big Dipper is projected onto the land, Megrez (the star where the handle meets the bowl) on your crosshair: seven nodes, 1,440 blocks across (power 4× out of the box, from 0.1× to 10× on its slider). Out in Ursa Major its seven real stars wake as a stellar array and fire. Their shooting stars come down one by one, each digging a crater as wide as its star is bright and leaving a glowing star-core crystal in it. Then the constellation's lines ignite across the land as burning trenches, and the whole figure flares: the Big Dipper burned into your world. Everything where a star lands or a line burns is erased, you too (you die) if you stand there in survival. In creative, the ground under your feet is spared.

SS-05 · Tesseract

A cage of light in all seven colours of the spectrum is painted over your crosshair, 640 blocks across (from 0.05× to 10× on its slider), and grids the land into 64 cells. Out of another universe a machine of hypercubes comes through a wormhole into the sky, folds down through the fourth dimension and lands on the square: cracks race along the grid, the land is cut free, and in four waves every cell is torn out a full cube deep, rock, ore and caves with it, and lurches high into the sky, each turned its own way. The ground drops away in tiers beneath, the grid burning in a rainbow on every floor, and a wireframe tesseract is left hanging over the middle. Everything in the square is erased, you too (you die; in creative you drop into the pit).

How to use

  1. Get the Stellar Remote from the creative tab The Shooting Star (Demo) (or the Combat tab), or craft it: a spyglass, a redstone block and an eye of ender down the middle, three netherite blocks down each side. The recipe shows up in your recipe book the first time you look through a spyglass.
  2. K selects SS-01, I selects SS-03, U selects SS-04 and Y selects SS-05, or press H for the skill menu: the world turns white and the menu floats around you. Aim at a skill with the crosshair and click to pick it; right-click for its details and to set its key.
  3. Under each skill in the menu are three sliders: Power (its size), Damage (per hit, from 2 up to ∞, which erases) and Speed (the whole skill, film and sounds too, from 0.3× to 3×). Click or drag along a slider, or point at it and use the mouse wheel. The Cutscenes switch under the item panel turns every skill's film on or off.
  4. Right click to cast. Sneak + right click steps to the next skill.
  5. J skips the film that's playing (or turns films off and on).

⚠️ Before you cast

  • It permanently changes your world. SS-01 deletes a column 400 blocks wide down to the void; SS-03 planes the land 400 blocks around and leaves an unbreakable needle standing; SS-04 leaves seven craters and seven trenches; SS-05 tears a 640-block square out of the land and leaves a stepped pit with the land floating above it. Turned up on their sliders they reach much further (SS-01 up to 3,000 blocks wide, SS-03 up to 2,000 blocks around), and the land far from the strike keeps being reshaped for a while after the film. Back up any world you care about.
  • Photosensitivity warning: full-screen flashing impact frames (white/red, ember, violet) and strobing light.
  • Heavy post-processing shaders: a decent GPU is recommended. The first launch spends a moment compiling them.
