Description

RL Butchery and Survival

The Skinning Mod- Complicating Minecraft is what it used to/technically is called.

What Even Is This?

(heres what)

The Skinning Mod flips the script on resource gathering in Minecraft. Instead of mobs dropping the usual stuff (boring), they leave behind carcasses. Yep, carcasses. You’ll need to skin them for resources, making your gameplay more challenging, realistic, and—dare I say—meaty.

Usage

I would say "figure it out" but that would be rude--that's my line, right?-- so I suggest you refer to the Usage Guide if you want to read the prethought thinking I thunk for you.

Also. Not covered in that thingy. Get this:

  • New Enchanting process: If you want it, it's not like you have to use it. It requires two diamonds and an obsidian to craft, but also, you know those essences you've been getting from animals? well, toss 4 o' those in the infuser (that's the thing, it's and it's even hopper compatible) one in each slot, toss some lapis or lapis blocks as the fuel, wait for it to enchant and poof! You've just fabricated a new enchanted item, apply it to whatever as if it was a book. Hint: notice how the same enchantment always goes on the same item? I wonder what would happen if you put one of those items, unenchanted, in the infuser… huh.
  • New Armor Crafting process: You can no more skip straight from nothing to iron! cheepo. Nope. you have to get leather, better yet, you have to get fur. You see, now making leather armor requires fur and leather, this makes it more realistic/immersive/funner… I think. also, you get tonnes of leather. one cow's enough for a suit of armor. Nice. So then you craft an Iron Upgrade Kit to turn your leather into iron armor, just put the armor in your offhand, the kit in your main hand and interact. Or you could use a gold upgrade kit, to make golden armor. Then from iron you use a diamond upgrade kit to make diamond armor. you can keep your enchantments forever, and no skipping tiers.
  • Why aren't I working on the mod anymore?: No one cares about this mod but me. :( Play it yo, find bugs and report them, ask for features. Then I'll know someone wants this mod, someone will play it, and I'll get back to work.

F.A.Q

  • Q: What is even the use of that?
  • A: Let's say you're running through a cavern farming enemies, now you can carry a stack of each carcase instead of each of their drops individually. Convenienter, easier, faster, slimer, and cooler!
  • Q: How does this effect mob drops?
  • A: Currently, this basically anulls looting and makes it worthless. (You get 1 carcase per creature, no more or less, and the carcase is the same for each creature type). Which i don't consider a problem. I never thought it could possibly make sense to get two chickens from only killing one.
  • A: On the other hand, you also get 32 beef, leather, and ground beef, 2 ribs, 1 tongue, 1 liver, and 12 bones, all from one cow. And similar for a pig, and whatever else, and it even has some useless stuff which (if you're like me) you'll love to collect.
  • Q: How does this complicate minecraft?
  • A: You can punch a pig to death, but you can't do anything with the carcase unless you have a sword to skin it with.
  • A: Also, I'm planning to change some recipes to use the byproducts of skinning.
  • Q: In what way does this modify the feel of minecraft?
  • A: Well, food for one thing is much easier to get.
  • A: For another thing, things are done a bit more realistic. i.e. you get appropriate amounts of food from animals, bones or bonemeal from animals, byproducts like scutes from turtles or spikes from pufferfish. It's cool, trust me.
  • Q: Will you port this mod to Forge?
  • A: Neva!. I mean, probably not.
  • Q: May I use this mod in my modpack?
  • A: Well, I would be wary, it's still in alpha… but sure, if you want to you may.--I mean, yeah! Do it. that would be great!
