Description
The V0id Dimension
Mine a strange new ore in the End, build a portal, and step into The Void: a glitched, broken copy of your Overworld. The sky is dark purple and streaked with errors, the sun is a black hole, the water has turned blue and black, and everything you know about mobs is backwards. Cows hunt you. Zombies don't care you exist.
Requires: Minecraft 26.3, Fabric Loader and Fabric API.
How to get to The Void
1. Find Abyssite in the End
Abyssite Ore is found in end stone all over the End, about as rarely as diamonds. Mine it with a diamond pickaxe or better to get 1–3 Abyssite (Fortune gives more). Deep under The Void (in deepslate, below y 0) there's also Deepslate Abyssite Ore, which works the same way.
2. Make 4 Blocks of Abyssite
Craft 9 Abyssite into 1 Block of Abyssite. The portal needs 4 blocks (36 Abyssite).
3. Get protected before you go
The Void erases unprotected players in about 10 seconds. You need one of these:
- Potion of Void Protection: brew an Awkward Potion with Abyssite. It lasts 10 minutes. Add gunpowder for a splash potion, then dragon's breath for a lingering one.
- A full set of Abyssite armor: it protects you for as long as you're wearing all four pieces.
- Void Resistance: an armor enchantment. Any one piece of armor with it protects you for as long as you wear it.
4. Build the portal
Lay the 4 Blocks of Abyssite flat on the ground in a plus shape around a 1×1 hole:
A
A . A
A
Then place a Block of Amethyst into the hole. It turns into a Void Portal, and a purple beacon beam shoots up out of it for 3 seconds. Jump in!
The portal works in the Overworld, the Nether or the End, and takes you to the same coordinates in The Void.
5. Getting home
A return portal is built where you arrive. Step into it to go back to the Overworld.
The other way in
Jump off the End. Falling into the void below the End doesn't kill you any more: you drop out of The Void's sky instead, and float down with Slow Falling. There's no portal home waiting for you, so bring 4 Abyssite Blocks and a Block of Amethyst to build your own. Get protected first!
You can't set your spawn in The Void (beds and respawn anchors don't work there), so if you die, you wake up back home.
Void Escape: a new game mode
When you make a new world, click the Game Mode button until it says Void Escape (after Survival, Hardcore and Creative).
- You start in The Void, on dry land near spawn, with an empty inventory and 2 hours of Void Protection. That's your clock: the Void Protection icon in the corner, with the exact time left in your inventory. It only counts down while you're playing.
- Get to the Overworld before it runs out. Mine 36 Abyssite from Deepslate Abyssite Ore deep underground, find a Block of Amethyst in an amethyst geode, and build a Void portal home.
- When the 2 hours are up, the Void gets you in about 10 seconds, and nothing else protects you: no potions, no Abyssite or Singularity armor, no Void Resistance. Milk doesn't take the clock away, and potions don't add time.
- One life, like Hardcore. Die and it's Game Over: you can only watch as a spectator. While you're escaping, your hearts in The Void are corrupted, with holes into starry space.
- Reach the Overworld to win: "You Escaped!" and your time, on screen and in chat for everyone. After that the Void works as normal for you again, but you're still on one life.
- In multiplayer everyone gets their own 2 hours. On a server, turn it on with
/gamerule voiddimension:void_escape true.
What's waiting in The Void
- Same land, wrong world. The terrain matches your Overworld at the same coordinates, but under a dark purple sky full of glitch streaks, with a black hole where the sun should be and a whole solar system of square, sun-style planets orbiting it, passing in front of it and disappearing behind it. There is no day and night there: the black hole gives off only a dim light, so it's always dusk.
- Ridged Forests. The Void's own biome, about as rare as a jungle. Twisted trees with light gray, ridged bark and white leaves stand on gray ground with white ash drifting through the air. No flowers, no animals, just packs of Glitches. Walk in and the sky turns black, horizon and all, and it fades back to purple when you leave.
- Void Marshes. The Void's swamps have gone toxic. Dead, leafless oaks with a few vines, fallen logs, sickly yellow-green grass and mud, green specks floating in the air, and croaks, bubbles and drips all around. The sky and fog turn toxic green as you walk in. The marsh's Glitch Fluid glows lime green and it's deadly: while you're in it you get Wither III, a heart a second. It hurts mobs too, but the Glitch, glitched mobs and the marsh's slimes are used to it. Only the marsh's fluid does this (carry it out in a bucket and it's harmless), and a boat keeps you out of it.
- Low gravity. You jump about 2.5 blocks high, drift slowly back down, and can fall 8 blocks without getting hurt.
- Glitch Fluid instead of water. Broken blue-and-black water, with a shimmer of light across still pools, that works like the real thing (fish and squid live in it, it puts out fire), and gives you Fire Resistance that lasts 30 seconds after you get out. You can pick it up in a bucket.
- Corrupted blocks. Patches of corrupted grass, dirt, stone, sand, logs and leaves, on the surface and underground. Every kind of tree has its own glitched log and leaves. The corruption is ragged holes into the starry space of an End portal, spreading from block to block.
- Everything is backwards. Passive mobs (cows, pigs, sheep, villagers...) chase you and attack. Hostile mobs (zombies, skeletons, creepers...) completely ignore you. Neutral mobs (wolves, bees, endermen, iron golems, llamas, pandas, goats) and your tamed pets behave normally.
- Zombies, skeletons and other undead don't burn in daylight, and wardens never get angry at you.
- The Glitch. A broken, hovering mob that spawns all over The Void (and nowhere else), above ground and in caves, and in packs in Ridged Forests. It's the one monster there that still wants you dead. It stutter-teleports around, sometimes skips away when you hit it, and one hit in four rubber-bands you a few blocks away. Drops experience and sometimes Abyssite, and very rarely (1 in 700) its own Glitch Head.
- Boss arenas. Round arenas of blackstone and gilded blackstone, ringed with blackstone spikes. Every Ridged Forest that's big enough hides one near its middle. Summon the Glitch King in one (see below).
- Glitch Vaults. Rare vaults of blackstone and Ridged wood buried deep under The Void, about as rare as a woodland mansion. There's no way in from above: they're built where caves run, so keep an eye out for their walls, partly fallen in, poking into a cave. Inside, a hall with the main chest leads through Ridged doors to 3–5 rooms, laid out differently every time: two dark spawner rooms (one for Glitches, one for Glitch Gales), and storage, music and caved-in rooms. The chests hold dungeon loot plus Abyssite and Ridged Saplings, and the hall's chest has a 1 in 200 chance of the music disc "Glitcher764 - Lag Spike", a fast two-minute track that stutters and glitches like a lag spike.
- Singularity shrines. Small crumbled ruins guarded by a Glitch Gale spawner standing on a little black hole in the floor. There's about one in each Ridged Forest, 50–80 blocks from its boss arena (blackstone and Ridged wood, one side fallen in), and one in each Void Marsh (mud bricks and blackstone, one side sunk into the toxic fluid). The chest at the back holds rich loot: Abyssite, gold, diamonds, experience bottles, Glitch Charges, ender pearls, golden apples, often a Block of Abyssite, now and then an enchanted golden apple.
- Black Hole Observatories. Tall deepslate towers with a tinted-glass dome and a copper telescope aimed at the black hole, standing on The Void's surface (uncommon). Climbing one is the challenge: chests in alcoves guarded by arrow traps, a floor of crumbling tiles that drops you back down, then a tall hall over a floor of pointed dripstone, with ledges spiralling up the walls that only The Void's low gravity lets you jump between. Murals on the way up show the planets in order. At the top waits the Star Seal in a ring of 11 planet blocks with buttons: press them in the order the planets orbit the black hole. Get one wrong and the whole floor drops away onto the dripstone below. Get them all right and the seal becomes a chest of Abyssite, diamonds and emeralds, with a 1 in 5 chance each of the Astral Spyglass (see below) and the music disc "Glitcher764 - Stargazer", two and a half minutes of calm, dreamy space music.
- The Glitch Gale. A Breeze-like head with Blaze rods spinning around it and a swirling tail of glitched wind. It only comes from the spawners in Glitch Vaults and Singularity shrines. It floats like a Blaze, lag-teleports like the Glitch, keeps its distance and fires glitch wind charges that throw you a long way and give you the Void effect for 3 seconds, and Void protection doesn't stop them: not the potion, not full Abyssite armor, not Void Resistance (only a full set of Singularity armor does). 30 health. Drops 0–1 Glitch Rods.
The Glitch King
The boss of The Void. A Glitch three times the size, with 400 health, a glitched boss bar and its own music.
Summoning it
- Find a boss arena: look for a Ridged Forest (where the sky goes black) and head for its middle.
- On the arena's gold middle, build a plus of blocks on the floor: a Block of Abyssite in the centre, and a block of diamond, netherite, emerald and iron around it (one of each, any order).
- Place a Glitch Head on top of the Abyssite.
Diamond
Netherite Abyssite Emerald
Iron
The blocks are used up, and the king boots up for 3 seconds. It's too big for the arena's gates, so it stays inside with you.
Watch its head
Its head floats on the left, in the middle or on the right, and where it is tells you what's coming. Every 10 seconds (every 5 once it's below half health) the head jumps to a new spot, and a second later the king starts a new move:
- Head on the right: it throws glitch balls at you (3 hearts and the Void effect). Punch them back to hurt it!
- Head in the middle: it calls in Glitches to help.
- Head on the left: it leaps around, and every landing sends a shockwave ring along the ground. Jump over it, or take 4 hearts and get thrown.
Up close it punches for 6 hearts and gives the Void effect, whatever its head is doing.
The reward
One random Abyssite tool with enchantments past the normal limits: think Sharpness VII–XI, Efficiency VI–X, Fortune IV–VI, Unbreaking up to X, and sometimes something odd, like Wind Burst on a sword. Plus 50 experience, a 1 in 3 chance of the music disc "Glitcher764 - The Glitch King": the boss fight's music, for your jukebox, and a 1 in 60 chance of the Singularity Upgrade template (see Singularity armor below).
Glitch Head
A rare drop (1 in 700) when you kill a Glitch. It works like a zombie head: put it on the ground or a wall (its eyes glow in the dark), wear it so Glitches only notice you from half as far away, or put it on a note block to play the Glitch's sound. And it's what summons the Glitch King.
Glitched mobs
Every passive mob that ends up in The Void gets corrupted: torn textures, magenta and cyan streaks, patches of missing texture, and a new name ("Glitched Cow", "Glitched Farmer"...).
- They stay glitched if you bring them home, and their babies are glitched too.
- Glitched mobs attack you anywhere, not just in The Void. Tamed pets and the mount you're riding stay on your side.
- Glitched happy ghasts keep their distance and shoot ice balls. They hit as hard as a ghast's fireball, freeze you and slow you down. Punch one to send it flying back!
- All 28 passive mobs have their own Glitched Spawn Egg in the Void Dimension creative tab.
- The glitched look is made from your own game's textures, so it works with your resource packs.
Ridged wood
The wood of the Ridged Forest: black planks inside light gray, ridged bark. It's a full wood set that works just like oak: logs, wood, stripped logs and wood, planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors (with windows), trapdoors, buttons, pressure plates, signs and hanging signs (with a light gray panel so your writing shows), shelves, boats and boats with chests. The white leaves drop Ridged Saplings, which grow into twisted Ridged trees anywhere, even back home.
Abyssite gear
Crafted from Abyssite and sticks in the same shapes as diamond gear, spear included. It sits between diamond and netherite, except that every Abyssite tool hits 1 harder than its netherite version (the Abyssite Spear's charge is halfway between the diamond and netherite spears'). It can be enchanted, repaired with Abyssite, and trimmed. Wearing all four armor pieces protects you from The Void. Upgrade it into Singularity gear with a Singularity Upgrade template.
The Abyssite Sword gives anything it hits the Void effect for 3 seconds (1 heart of damage a second). The Void's own mobs, the Glitch and glitched mobs, are immune, and so is anyone with Void protection.
| Durability | Mining speed | Attack bonus | Armor toughness | Knockback resistance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Diamond | 1561 | 8.0 | +3 | 2.0 | 0% |
| Abyssite | 1800 | 8.5 | +5 | 2.5 | 5% per piece |
| Netherite | 2031 | 9.0 | +4 | 3.0 | 10% per piece |
Attack damage: Abyssite sword 9, pickaxe 7, axe 11, shovel 7.5, hoe 2 (netherite: 8, 6, 10, 6.5, 1).
Singularity armor
The best armor in the game. Worn, its black plates are a window into deep space: stars twinkle, galaxies and little black holes drift past, and when you turn the camera the space slides slower than the armor does, so it looks far away. In your inventory the pieces are black with twinkling stars. The helmet is shaped like the netherite helmet (made from your own game's netherite helmet, so it matches your resource pack).
| Durability (helmet / chestplate / leggings / boots) | Protection | Armor toughness | Knockback resistance | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Netherite | 407 / 592 / 555 / 481 | 3 / 8 / 6 / 3 = 20 | 3 per piece | 10% per piece |
| Singularity | 616 / 896 / 840 / 728 | 4 / 9 / 7 / 4 = 24 | 4 per piece | 15% per piece |
It floats in lava like netherite, can be enchanted and trimmed, and is repaired with Abyssite. Wear all four pieces for:
- Glitch dodge: 1 hit in 5 from a mob, a player or a projectile misses: you lag-teleport a few blocks away and take no damage. Falls, fire, lava and the Void effect always hurt.
- Full Void protection: no Void effect at all, not even from glitch wind (Glitch Gales, Glitch Charges, the Glitch Mace), which gets through every other kind of Void protection.
- Low gravity everywhere: The Void's high jumps and soft landings (8-block falls don't hurt), in every dimension.
Getting it
Upgrade Abyssite armor at a smithing table: Singularity Upgrade template + an Abyssite piece + a Block of Abyssite. Enchantments, trims and wear carry over. The template is rare: the Glitch King drops one 1 time in 60. You only need one, though: copy it like the netherite template (template + 7 Abyssite around a Block of Abyssite makes 2). The same template upgrades Abyssite tools.
Singularity tools
Sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe and spear, upgraded from the Abyssite ones the same way (template + tool + Block of Abyssite). Each is shaped like your netherite tool of the same kind, with a glowing white star gem, pale blue glowing tips and a flash of light running through it every couple of seconds. In your hand, on the ground and in item frames, their blades and heads are the same moving space as the armor. They float in lava, can be enchanted, and are repaired with Abyssite.
| Durability | Mining speed | Attack bonus | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Netherite | 2031 | 9.0 | +4 |
| Abyssite | 1800 | 8.5 | +5 |
| Singularity | 3046 | 10.0 | +6 |
Attack damage: Singularity sword 10, pickaxe 8, axe 12, shovel 8.5, hoe 3. The Singularity Spear's charge is a step past the netherite spear's: harder hitting and quicker.
- Pulls drops to you: whatever you break or kill with one, its drops fly straight into your inventory.
- Digs 3×3: the pickaxe and shovel also break the 8 blocks around the one you mine.
- Fells whole trees: the axe chops every log of a tree at once (up to 256), but leaves your log house alone.
Hold sneak to dig or chop just one block. Every extra block wears the tool and counts its enchantments, like mining it yourself.
Void Aspect enchantment
A new sword enchantment, like Fire Aspect but with the Void. Anything you hit gets the Void effect for 3 seconds at level I, 5 at level II and 7 at level III. The same mobs are immune as with the Abyssite Sword. Find it at the enchanting table, from librarians and in loot chests; it works on any sword, Abyssite included.
Void Resistance enchantment
A new armor enchantment with one level. Wear any one piece of armor that has it (any material) and you're protected from the Void, just like with a Potion of Void Protection: The Void can't hurt you, and neither can Abyssite Swords or Void Aspect. Glitch wind still gets through. Find it at the enchanting table, from librarians and in loot chests, as rare as Void Aspect.
Glitch Rods, Glitch Charges and the Glitch Mace
Glitch Rods drop from Glitch Gales. One rod crafts into 4 Glitch Charges, glitched wind charges: throw one and it bursts where it lands, throwing things back. Throw one at your feet to launch yourself, and you land without fall damage. Mobs caught close to the burst get the Void effect for 3 seconds, Void protection or not, but you never get it from your own charge. Dispensers shoot them too.
The Glitch Mace is a Block of Abyssite on top of a Glitch Rod. It's the Mace in Abyssite teal and glitch magenta (made from your own game's Mace, so it matches your resource pack), with everything the Mace has: smash attacks, Density, Breach and Wind Burst. It's repaired with Glitch Rods. On top of that:
- Void smash: a smash attack gives what you hit, and everything the smash throws back, the Void effect for 3 seconds, through Void protection.
- Glitch launch: right-click to blast yourself straight up (even higher in The Void's low gravity), then come down on something. Costs 1 durability, with 3 seconds between launches.
- Lag-teleport hits: one hit in four skips what you hit a few blocks away.
Astral Spyglass
A violet spyglass with starlight-blue glass, found only at the top of a Black Hole Observatory. It zooms like a spyglass, and more:
- In The Void: hold the cross on one of the planets orbiting the black hole. The spyglass locks on, follows it and zooms in until the planet fills your view. A white flash, and you're standing on it, with its whole world all around you. Each of the 11 planets has its own scene: lava rivers, acid pools, red dunes, a glitched world, gas giants, a ringed world, ice, with the black hole hanging in the sky.
- In the Overworld: the sky through the spyglass turns into space, with 10 worlds hanging in it. Hover over one to land on it: the Nether, the End, the Aether, the Twilight Forest and six more.
- It's all just a view: let go and you're back where you were.
Tips
- Your first trip is the dangerous one: bring a few Potions of Void Protection, then use what you find to finish your Abyssite armor.
- Bring your wolves: tamed pets stay on your side in The Void, and you'll want the help.
- Grab a bucket of Glitch Fluid: a quick dip gives Fire Resistance, handy for your next Nether trip.
- Going for the Glitch King? Bring a bow or a shield for the glitch balls, and keep an eye on its head.
- Grab some Ridged Saplings while you're in the forest: black-and-white wood makes a great build back home.
- Crossing a Void Marsh? Take a boat. Swimming through the green fluid can kill you.
- Exploring caves deep under The Void? Blackstone and Ridged wood walls mean a Glitch Vault. Its Glitch Gales hit through Void protection, so bring a bow.
- Got a Singularity Upgrade template? Copy it before you use it, so you can upgrade your whole set.
- Solving an Observatory's puzzle? Look up at the black hole's planets first: the inner ones go round fastest.
- Playing Void Escape? Head underground early: Deepslate Abyssite Ore is below y 0.
Installation
- Install the Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.3.
- Download Fabric API for 26.3.
- Put both jars in your
modsfolder.
For multiplayer, the mod needs to be on the server and on every player's game.
