The Place Where You Came From

A bootleg races mod for forge

Why?

I spent way too much time looking for a forge races mod and found many other people doing the same thing.

It can't be that hard, I thought, I'll do it!

How bootleg?

One of the Places is called "Ender dude" sooo...

This is my first mod, and I am very inexperienced.

Places?

The mod is called The Place Where You Came From, so the various races would be called "The Places Where You Can Come From" or Places for short.

WDYM Beta?

Basically, the mod may need a little more work to make it as polished and clean as I would like, and it hasn't yet been battle tested against every other mod.

Ok, ok, what are the actual Places Where You Can Come From?

Fine, here is the list, sorted by the in-game impact:

Low Impact:

Gas-Bag

Moon Gravity
Herbivore

Planeswalker

Can switch between the overworld and the nether without a portal (15 sec cooldown) - requires 3 XP levels
Gives buffs upon planewalking -> Fire resist - Resistance - Slow falling
Mines out the location at the destination when planeswalking

Mobs randomly swap dimension around you

Wolf-man

Gain buffs at night depending on moon phase
Nearby wolves gain buffs at full moon
FullMoon -> Strength II Speed I
1 away -> Strength I Speed I
2 away -> Strength I
Nearby wolves gain regen 4 at all times
Carnivore

Medium Impact:

Ender-Kin

Take damage when in water

Teleport by using ability

Mutated

Upon taking damage gain a random buff and damage the area near you
Buffs stack up to II
Buffs last 30 seconds

Buffs: Speed, Haste, Strength

Obsidian Golem

Takes and gives double damage
Immune to fire and drowning
Cannot sprint or eat
Only heals in lava -> Regen I
Immune to most negative status effects

High Impact

Livingwood

Being in sun gives food
Can only eat honey
Buffs given in water - regeneration - resistance
Slowly grow a large branch - max length 15 blocks - drains hunger - goes faster after you drink honey

Deathworm
Press Ability Key to move through 1x1 passages

Immune to Poison and Hunger
Attacks apply poison to enemies

Blindness above y = 60
Nightvision below y = 60
Digs faster

Undead
Gains hunger by shift-right clicking drinkable mobs -> 1 heart = 1 minute - at level 0
Hunger gained is divided by the level of resistance you would have
Hunger gained before leveling is adjusted
Gain different buffs/debuffs based on level
Loose all levels upon death

Gain Resistance 1
Permanant:
-Gain mining fatigue in the sun
-Gain water breathing

Not in the sun
Gain a level of resistance every 10 levels
Gain a level of speed every 15 levels
Gain a level of strength every 20 levels
Gain a level of haste every 40 levels

In the sun
Gain a level of weakness every 10 levels
Gain a level of slowness every 15 levels
Gain a level of mining fatigue every 20 levels
Gain a level of wither every 20 levels

Looses Resistance if you:
are out of food
are on fire
get wither
get hit with a smite weapon (gives you wither)

Ability?

The ability key is used to activate mechanics for a few of the Places, and is bound to G by default.

I want to change my Place!

Use the aptly named command /changeplacewhereyoucamefromcommand

Possible Questions:

Can you port this to fabric?

lmao

Do I have to use the ridiculously long name?

Preferably, but Place instead of Place Where You Came From is also acceptable, when referring to one of the various options.

Are you taking suggestions?

I'm pretty happy with the current list and their powers, but if you come up with a new Place that fits a particular niche, let me know.

Feedback on balance is also accepted, but may not be used.

Can I use this in my pack?

Yes. The only stipulation is that you must refer to the various choices of class as Places or Places You Can Come From

Future Plans:

Make it easier to add more classes and easier for others to add classes as it would be difficult to now
