Description
Threatbound
Every day, the world learns to kill you.
Threatbound is an adaptive, modpack-friendly difficulty mod where the world becomes increasingly dangerous as its persistent day counter advances.
Enemies gain health and damage, develop smarter behavior, organize into squads, acquire mutations and corruption, and eventually arrive in large-scale waves accompanied by elites, Nemeses and procedurally assembled bosses.
Main Features
- Endless difficulty progression based on persistent world days.
- Configurable enemy health, damage, awareness and movement scaling.
- Improved hostile AI with longer target memory, coordinated pursuit and active player hunting.
- Scheduled waves with biome and dimension-based compositions.
- Seven combinable mutations, including Explosive, Vampiric, Teleporting, Regenerating and Summoner.
- Four corruption ranks: Corrupted, Abyssal, Crimson and Primordial.
- Organized enemy squads with captains, tanks, archers, healers, summoners and assassins.
- Elite enemies and minibosses with special equipment, abilities, colored names and boss bars.
- Procedurally assembled bosses with randomized abilities, weaknesses, entourages and rewards.
- A Nemesis system where enemies that defeat players may survive, gain a name and return stronger.
- Special world events such as Blood Moons, Eternal Nights, Soul Storms and Eclipses.
- Tactical siege objectives that empower enemies until destroyed.
- Compatibility with vanilla mobs and compatible hostile creatures from other mods.
Equipment and Progression
Threatbound includes:
- The Threat Compass, which displays the current day and threat level.
- The Siege Standard, used to summon an additional wave.
- Crimson Armor and the Crimson Katana for advanced waves.
- Primordial Armor and the Primordial Katana as final-tier equipment.
- Eight specialized combat enchantments.
- A complete advancement tree with long-term milestones reaching millions of days.
Built for Modpacks
Threatbound avoids relying on a hardcoded list of supported mobs. Compatible creatures from other mods can receive difficulty scaling, mutations, corruption, elite ranks and boss modules without replacing their original entity.
Datapack tags and extensive server configuration allow modpack creators to customize:
- Scaling curves and progression speed.
- Wave schedules and mob pools.
- Blacklists and forced compatibility.
- Mutations, corruption, elites and bosses.
- World events and siege objectives.
- Rewards and equipment balance.
Commands
Use /threatbound to inspect the current difficulty status.
Additional administrative subcommands are available for testing waves, corruption, squads, bosses and world events.
Current Compatibility
- Minecraft: 1.20.1
- Loader: Forge
- Multiplayer: Install on both the server and clients
- Dependencies: None
NeoForge and Fabric support are planned for future versions.
