Toss To Feed

Automate your animal farms or just enjoy a more immersive farming experience. Drop the food, and let them come to it!

Toss To Feed is a vanilla-friendly Fabric mod that gives passive mobs the natural ability to seek out and eat their preferred breeding items directly off the ground. Whether you want to build simple automated breeding machines using redstone droppers, or you just want the immersion of tossing a handful of wheat into a pasture, this mod makes animal husbandry feel much more organic.

✨ Features

Natural Pathfinding:

Animals will actively spot dropped food from up to 10 blocks away and briskly walk toward it to eat.

Automated Breeding:

Consuming a dropped item will automatically put the animal into "love mode," producing vanilla breeding particles.

Smart AI:

Animals won't get stuck endlessly staring at food they can't reach behind fences. If a path is blocked, they will quickly give up and look for food they can actually reach.

Vanilla Rules Apply:

Babies and adults that are already on a breeding cooldown ("full") will completely ignore the dropped food, leaving it for those who are actually ready to breed.

⚙️ Performance Focused

Entity pathfinding and AI bounding box scans can be heavy on servers. This mod was built from the ground up to protect your server's TPS:

Staggered Scans:

Instead of scanning every tick, animals use randomized server-time stagger intervals to check for food. This ensures that even if you have a massive farm with hundreds of cows, they will never perform their heavy environment scans on the exact same server tick.

Stack Preservation:

If a dropper spits out a stack of 64 wheat, an animal will cleanly eat just 1 item from the stack, leaving the rest on the floor for others.

📦 Compatibility

Built natively for Minecraft 26.1.x using Java 25.

Tested and fully working on Minecraft 26.2.

Requires the Fabric API.

Universal Support: Automatically supports modded animals, or animals whose breeding items have been changed by data packs, without needing any extra configuration!
