About

Description

Not all trees have a spirit to watch over them, many die to old age, drought or flood, disease or flames, and many other (un)natural causes. But some trees do have a guardian spirit, they are blessed by your presence. You shall make them grow and prosper, spread your roots far and wide, eventually shadow over all the other trees and become a monument in itself.

You will take on the role of a forests very essence. You will become a dryad, a tree spirit, a tree's soul, the God in the forest. It has many names, but common to them all is this: They can never leave the forest, and if the forest withers, so do you. And just as a tree's reach is limited by the height of it's branches and it's length of it's roots, so is a tree spirit limited. You will become an extension of the forest, just as it becomes an extension of you. The spirit will direct the growth of the forest, digging roots to valuable minerals and precious water, branching out to bask in the sun.

But remember, you are not alone in this world, the tree spirit can never rest. It must protect it's forest from all things. The darkness brings nests of spiders, the extremely dangerous Creepers, maybe even other tree spirits - everything is a potential threat. Even when they are gone, a single spark of flame can reduce a spirit to ash, and sometimes even the sky itself will try to erase your very existence.

How will you survive? (This is meant to be more of a 'challenge' origin and most of your time will be spent standing still and absorbing sunlight, slowly expanding your forest)

Inspired by the tree spirit challenge: https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/survival-mode/297708-challenge-the-tree-spirit

- Photosynthesis: Like a tree, you are only able to gain energy from sunlight. Be sure to save your energy for night. (Although your maximum energy reserves are greatly expanded)

- Rain Lover: You gain more energy standing in the rain

- Tree Movement: As a Tree Spirit, you are able to phase through the forest you dwell in at the cost of some stored energy. (Use primary ability key to toggle.)

- Near Tree: As a Tree Spirit, you must be near an oak tree, otherwise, you die.

- Plant Growth: As a Tree Spirit, you can bonemeal plants by shift+right clicking them at the cost of some hunger.

- Eyes of the Forest: You are able to view the world from the forest's perspective. (You can see entities near an oak tree)

- Oakflesh: Your skin is as strong as a sturdy oak tree. The more trees that surround you, the stronger the effect.

- Flammable: Just like wood, you are highly flammable.

- Trunks over Twigs: Not standing near enough oak logs gives you debuffs

- Tree Growth Ring: When your energy reserves are at maximum and it is raining, you can use your secondary power to permanantly increase your hp (stacks up to 10 times)

- Grow Apple: Although you cannot eat, you can still grow fruits to feed other forest dwellers. (Shift+right click on the underside of a leaf block.)

- Grow Gapple: By shift+right clicking an apple on a leaf block, you can use some of your stored energy to turn it into a golden apple. (Takes energy equivalent to 10 mins of photosynthesis)

- Grow Enchanted Gapple: While it is raining, by shift+right clicking a gapple on a leaf block, you can use all of your stored energy to turn it into an enchanted golden apple. (Takes energy equivalent to 30 mins of photosynthesis)

- Reabsorb Fruit: By right clicking an apple, gapple, or enchanted golden apple on a leaf block, you can gain some of the energy back that was used to grow it (the better the apple, the more efficient the reabsorption)

Note: There is a minor incompatibility with Lithium, but there is an easy fix: https://github.com/apace100/origins-fabric/issues/485#issuecomment-1008200834
