Tribes and Legion

Tribes and Legion

Build a persistent tribe from almost any Minecraft creature. Capture enemies, command companions, manage their equipment, grow lasting friendships, and bring your legion across dimensions.

What This Mod Adds

  • A personal UUID-owned tribe created automatically for every player.
  • Universal capture and taming for many vanilla and modded living creatures.
  • A real-time tribe menu opened with Y, with Inventory, Recall, Find, Mode, and Abandon actions.
  • Six command modes: Passive, Follow, Move, Stay, Guard, and Aggressive.
  • Persistent mob inventories, equipment, ownership, command state, home positions, friendship, and skills.
  • Friendship progression with ten heart levels, permanent stat growth, three skill slots, titles, and colored hearts.
  • Death respawning and seamless FOLLOW/MOVE transfers when the owner changes dimension.
  • Command horns, binding shackles, vanilla-tame integration, Piglin bartering, ranged AI assistance, Jade information, and boss-bar filtering.

Quick Start

  1. Craft a tier of Binding Shackles.
  2. Simply right-click a mob with the Binding Shackles, then keep attacking it until the naming menu appears. right-click a mob with the Binding Shackles ืnaming menu The creative-only Magic Taming Stick can also add a creature directly and still opens the naming screen.

Binding and Capture

Binding Shackles recipe

Binding Shackles come in Wood, Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Netherite tiers. Stronger tiers provide more capture power and better pity growth.

Capture difficulty scales with the target's maximum health, while a healthier active trap improves the setup multiplier. Final capture chance is capped at 95%.

  • Capture rolls begin at 20% target health.
  • Roll steps occur every 0.5% health crossed.
  • A single hit can trigger at most 10 rolls.
  • Failed attempts build tier-dependent pity.
  • Chain particles are rendered around the hitbox for broad renderer compatibility.

Tribe Menu and Inventory

The tribe menu shows loaded and unavailable members, live health and cooldown information, a scaled mob preview, current mode, and action controls.

Card order is fixed when the menu opens, so moving mobs do not constantly reshuffle the list. menu

Menu Actions

  • Inventory: Opens the custom mob bag or the appropriate vanilla mount inventory.
  • TP / Recall: Safely recalls a tribe member to the owner. Failed recalls do not consume the cooldown.
  • Find: Helps identify the member's known location.
  • Mode: Cycles command behavior.
  • Abandon: Removes a member after confirmation. Vanilla-tamed companions refuse abandonment because they choose to stay with their owner.

Horse, Donkey, Mule, Llama, Trader Llama, and Camel use their vanilla inventory screens. Creatures without a reliable vanilla inventory path use the mod's custom bag.

Command Modes

Mode Behavior
PASSIVE Avoids combat, clears targets, and sits supported vanilla tameables.
FOLLOW Follows the owner or tribe, responds to threats, and assists in combat.
MOVE Follows without combat behavior.
STAY Holds the ordered position and retaliates when attacked or when defending that point.
GUARD Defends its assigned home area with an approximately 30-block operating leash.
AGGRESSIVE Actively seeks hostile targets; primarily issued through the Diamond Goat Horn.

The AI layer includes shared combat memory, interrupt budgets, stuck recovery, navigation watchdogs, special Brain-mob handling, and dynamic ranged assistance.

Ranged assistance observes native behavior first and only borrows movement control when a close-range, visibility, or friendly line-of-fire problem persists. It releases control after the firing position remains clear.

Command Horns

recipe

Copper Goat Horn

Supports:

  • FOLLOW
  • MOVE
  • STAY

Diamond Goat Horn

Supports:

  • AGGRESSIVE
  • PASSIVE

Shift + Right Click cycles the selected mode.
Right Click commands friendly mobs within 20 blocks.

Both horns use the familiar goat-horn animation and a 7-second item cooldown.

Friendship

Spoiler

Friendship belongs to each individual tribe member.

A nearby living owner grants 1 XP every 60 seconds while within 32 blocks. A tribe member also earns combat XP when it kills an enemy:

max(3, ceil(sqrt(target max HP)))

Hearts Title XP to Next Max HP Attack Armor
1 The Unseen 100 +10% +5% +1
2 The Passerby 140 +20% +10% +2
3 Fellow Traveler 180 +35% +17.5% +3
4 Shield Brother / Sister 220 +45% +22.5% +4
5 Oathbound Ally 260 +55% +27.5% +5
6 Kin of the Hearth 300 +80% +40% +6
7 Shadow Share 340 +95% +47.5% +7
8 Heart Guardian 380 +110% +55% +8
9 Soul-Echors 420 +125% +62.5% +9
10 Eternal Tether Max +150% +75% +12

Skill slots unlock at hearts 3, 6, and 9.

Reaching heart 10 upgrades the highest-rarity eligible skill once. Overlord and Angel of Sacrifice cannot coexist on the same member.

Death, Respawn, and Dimension Travel

Dead tribe members are preserved as server-side snapshots and return near their online owner after the configured delay. The default delay is 60 seconds.

Death respawns clear all positive and negative effects and restore:

  • Final friendship-adjusted maximum health
  • Inventory
  • Equipment
  • Ownership
  • AI state

Respawning tribe members drop no items and no experience when they die. Their saved inventory and equipment remain part of the respawn snapshot, but no duplicate death loot is created for players to farm.

FOLLOW and MOVE members use the same snapshot-and-restore foundation when their owner changes dimension. Transfers ignore the death cooldown and resolve a safe position near the player after arrival.

STAY and GUARD members remain assigned to their ordered locations.

Vanilla and Special Compatibility

Spoiler
  • Wolf, Cat, and Parrot sitting behavior synchronizes with command modes.
  • Piglin-family tribe members do not zombify.
  • Gold ingots in a Piglin's bag can move to the offhand for bartering in PASSIVE, STAY, or GUARD.
  • Breeze, Blaze, ranged skeleton-family mobs, Piglins, Raiders, and Wardens receive focused compatibility handlers.
  • Pillagers remain ranged-only to avoid conflicts with their native crossbow AI.
  • Friendly projectiles and harmful effects are blocked between tribe members.
  • Tamed members based on the vanilla Slime class are reduced to a non-splitting death size after their original respawn snapshot is saved.
  • Tribe Wardens are kept from digging away and retain Sonic Boom support against valid distant or elevated targets.

L_Ender's Cataclysm

  • The Harbinger's left and right heads follow the main head's tribe-approved target.
  • Known tribe boss bars are hidden.

Legendary Monsters

  • Controlled bosses and minibosses continuously move their home anchor with them instead of teleporting back to their original spawn.
  • Custom top-screen boss bars are hidden without altering unrelated combat overlays.

Jade

Optional Jade integration displays:

  • Tribe
  • Command mode
  • Status
  • Current AI information
