Description

Rune Mechanics:

Acquisition:

Runes have a low chance of being acquired by slaying specific mobs in the world associated with their aspect. Drop rates and mobs are data driven, so these values can be changed, but defaults are as follows.

Base drop rate: 10%

Inferum -> Blaze
Glacius -> Polar Bear
Terra -> Husk
Tempestas -> Breeze
Aracani -> Enderman
Umbre -> Phantom

Infusion:

Runes are almost like enchantments, though their only application is to armor. To infuse a rune into a piece of armor, simply add the rune in an anvil just as you would a normal enchanting book. All infusions cost 30 levels and persist through upgrades (Diamond to Netherite smithing recipe). Any armor is valid, even modded armor.

Rune Effects & Synergies:

Inferum

Base Effect: Adds a chance to ignite enemies with melee or ranged attacks. Boosts fire damage.

Frostfire (Inferum + Glacius): Enemies struck while burning begin to accumulate a stacking chill—each tick they’re on fire increases their slow

Searing Earth (Inferum + Terra): Every enemy set ablaze grants you a small absorption shield.

Blazing Tempest (Inferum + Tempestas): Attacks can trigger small arcs of lightning that leap to nearby enemies, causing flame to spread.

Mystic Conflagration (Inferum + Arcani): Fire damage is further boosted and enemies killed with fire explode, dealing AOE damage.

Hungering Flame (Inferum + Umbre): Enemies ablaze also heal you for a fraction of the damage dealt.

Glacius

Base Effect: Inflicts minor slow or chill on enemies on damage

Frostfire (Glacius + Infernum): Enemies struck while burning begin to accumulate a stacking chill—each tick they’re on fire increases their slow

Glacial Goliath (Glacius + Terra): Highest stack of chill on an enemy grants you equivalent stacks of Protection.

Storming Blizzard (Glacius + Tempestas): Attacks can summon a mini blizzard. Enemies caught in the swirling winds are slowed even further

Arcane Chill (Glacius + Arcani): All slows caused by the player are further boosted and enemies affected by slows become weaker.

Shadow Frost (Glacius + Umbre): Slowing enemies grants you speed for each enemy slowed nearby.

Terra

Base Effect: Additional armor and passive health regeneration

Searing Earth (Terra + Infernum): Every enemy set ablaze grants you a small absorption shield.

Glacial Goliath (Terra + Glacius): Highest stack of chill on an enemy grants you equivalent stacks of Protection.

Nature's Wrath (Terra + Tempestas): When hit, release a shockwave that knocks back attackers and briefly stuns them.

Mystic Grounding (Terra + Arcani): All armor is boosted, additionally, taking damage has a chance to grant Absorption equal to half the damage

Splintering Bedrock (Terra + Umbre): When you take damage, a portion is negated and reflected back at attackers

Tempestas

Base Effect: Provides minor knockback and a chance to shock enemies, stunning them briefly

Blazing Tempest (Tempestas + Inferum): Attacks can trigger small arcs of lightning that leap to nearby enemies, causing flame to spread.

Storming Blizzard (Tempestas + Glacius): Attacks can summon a mini blizzard. Enemies caught in the swirling winds are slowed even further

Nature's Wrath (Tempestas + Terra): When hit, release a shockwave that knocks back attackers and briefly stuns them.

Thundering Boon (Tempestas + Arcani) Increase stun durations, additional stunned enemies are struck with lightning

Gathering Singularity (Tempestas + Umbre): Stunning enemies spawns a Singularity that attracts other enemies and scatters them upon expiration

Arcani

Base Effect: Boosts all magical damage and potion effects

Mystic Conflagration (Arcani + Inferum): Fire damage is further boosted and enemies killed with fire explode, dealing AOE damage.

Arcane Chill (Arcani + Glacius): All slows caused by the player are further boosted and enemies affected by slows become weaker.

Mystic Grounding (Arcani + Terra): All armor is boosted, additionally, taking damage has a chance to grant Absorption equal to half the damage

Eclipsed Arcanum (Arcani + Umbre) Each attack has a chance to Sap an enemy for a small portion of their health, temporarily granting you equivalent Vigor stacks which increase your own health

Umbre

Base Effect: Faster attack speed and movement speed in dark areas

Hungering Flame (Umbre+ Inferum): Enemies ablaze also heal you for a fraction of the damage dealt.

Shadow Frost (Umbre+ Glacius): Slowing enemies grants you speed for each enemy slowed nearby.

Splintering Bedrock (Umbre+ Terra ): When you take damage, a portion is negated and reflected back at attackers
