Description

Project Summary:
Unnatural Geophobia aims to make your worlds more realistc, lush, varied, and of course beautiful. It overhauls nearly all of the overworld biomes that have vegetation and adds variety to foliage placement across all the biomes it covers. From arctic tundras with dense stands of trees in the taiga to rose-covered clearings in the dark forest, each biome has been completely transformed in terms of trees, plant life, and soil types. Podzol can be found on the forest floor. Ferns grow in the shadow of dark oak trees. Pitcher plants dot the clearings of jungles. Deepslate boulders lie scattered around the snowy plains.
It is compatible with terrain shaping mods (tectonic, lithosphere, larion, etc) but INCOMPATIBLE with biome overhauling mods (Geophilic, WWOO, etc). Mods that simply add new biomes should be fine.
The Scope:
It only uses vanilla datapack tech, so additional mods are required. It replaces all the naturally generated trees with custom ones, and utilizes only the surface feature system to add features.
There are no terrain shape changes whatsoever. This means it is compatible with all mods that alter the terrain shape.
Sometimes default minecraft features have been modified, so installing mods that alter those features is not recommended. Additionally, it makes its modifications to existing biomes by altering the biome files, meaning it is not compatible with Geophilic, WWOO, and other mods that alter vanilla biomes.
There are no changes to underground ore generation, but lava lakes and springs have been removed in most forested biomes to avoid extreme forest fires which devastate the dense, branchy trees. There are also no changes to sapling-grown trees.
The use of unnatural blocks in biome decoration has been avoided at all costs. There are some gray areas to this rule but the worst examples such as campfires underground have not been implemented.
The typical balance of trees and foliage to open terrain has been altered greatly. Some examples are far more trees in plains biomes, more flowers in all biomes, grassy clearings in nearly all forested areas and the taiga has been mostly replaced with a snowless tundra dotted with stands of trees.
The flower distribution has been modeled after real-world flower distributions as closely as possible. There means you will not be able to find every flower in a handful of biomes. Recommended to use Random Bonemeal Flowers for an easier method of obtaining different flowers.
Some biome colors have been changed to better reflect their real-life counterparts or simply to have a better overall color palette.
Now that you have an overview of the project, feel free to head to the gallery to check out the many screenshots I have taken with this pack installed.
Why 2.0? Why Unnatural Geophobia?:
This project began with one goal: port Natural Philosophy as a datapack to as many compatible versions as possible. As I learned how features and biomes work, I ended up making the project as an addon for the incredibly popular Geophilic project. 1.0 was a simple port of most of the main features of Natural Philosophy to 1.20.1. I ended up using it in my modpacks, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. But it was missing something, didn't feel like quite enough to release just yet. So I started creating the standalone experience that was Unnatural Geophobia 2.0. I ended up with essentially a Ship of Sisyphus sort of project, with so many parts being altered and replaced that it could barely be recognized as a port of Natural Philosophy anymore, especially with the latest update to the original mod.
While many traces of Natural Philosophy still exist in the mod, much of it I call my own. I could not have gotten here if it weren't for the works of the many people that came before me, which I have taken inspiration, motivation, and so much more. So thank you Bee and Voidsong Dragonfly, I could not have done this without you two.
You are welcome to use this in your modpacks. Credit would be appreciated.
