Description
Vanillume
Vanillume is a lightweight vanilla-style expansion for Minecraft that introduces new wildlife, crops, foods, potions, building blocks, tools and useful crafting recipes while preserving the familiar atmosphere and balance of the original game.
The mod is designed to make Minecraft feel more complete without adding overly complicated systems. Every creature, item and mechanic is intended to fit naturally alongside vanilla content.
Wildlife
Bears
Bears are powerful neutral animals that spawn individually in Forests and Dark Forests. They behave peacefully until attacked, after which they become aggressive, display red eyes and chase the player who provoked them.
Bears have 40 health, deal damage comparable to Polar Bears and move faster while attacking. Their improved AI helps them pursue targets, navigate around obstacles and attack reliably.
Bears can eat dropped:
- Sweet Berries
- Sour Berries
- Blackberries
While eating, the Bear holds the berry in its paws and plays a custom eating animation. Bears can safely walk through all berry bushes without taking damage.
After eating a berry, a Bear has:
- A 10% chance to drop Honeycomb.
- A 0.3% chance to drop a Golden Fish.
When defeated, a Bear drops exactly one item:
- Raw Cod — 45%
- Raw Salmon — 45%
- Honeycomb — 10%
Bears also have custom ambient, hurt and death sounds.
Raccoons
Raccoons are cautious animals found in suitable temperate Overworld biomes. They spawn as passive creatures in groups of 2–5 and avoid cold, snowy, desert and savanna environments.
Wild Raccoons normally run away from players similarly to vanilla Cats. A player who sneaks while holding a Spider Eye can approach without immediately frightening them. After calming down, the Raccoon slowly approaches the player.
Raccoons can be tamed with Spider Eyes. A tamed Raccoon:
- Follows its owner.
- Teleports to its owner when left too far behind.
- Can sit or stand when right-clicked.
- Uses a custom sitting animation.
- Stands up when attacked.
- Has a visible collar that can be dyed in every vanilla color.
- Uses red as its default collar color.
Raccoons are nocturnal animals. During the day, wild Raccoons lie down and play a custom sleeping animation with a separate sleeping texture. Approaching players wake them, although sneaking allows the player to move closer before being noticed.
Zombies are afraid of Raccoons and try to avoid them.
Cluckshrooms
Cluckshrooms are mushroom-covered Chickens found exclusively in Mushroom Fields. They spawn as passive creatures in groups of 4–8, using natural spawn conditions similar to vanilla Mooshrooms.
Cluckshrooms behave like vanilla Chickens:
- They wander using vanilla-style Chicken AI.
- Their wings flap while falling.
- They fall slowly and do not take fall damage.
- They can be bred.
- Two Cluckshrooms always produce a baby Cluckshroom.
- Baby Cluckshrooms have enlarged heads similar to vanilla chicks.
Using Shears on a Cluckshroom transforms it into a regular Chicken and drops Red Mushrooms.
When defeated, Cluckshrooms can drop:
- Raw Chicken, or Cooked Chicken if killed while burning
- Feathers
- Red Mushrooms
Cluckshrooms also lay their own Mushroom Eggs instead of regular Eggs.
Mushroom Eggs
Mushroom Eggs can be thrown like vanilla Eggs and use matching egg-texture particles when they break.
They have the same basic hatching behavior as regular Eggs:
- A chance to hatch a baby Cluckshroom.
- A rare chance to hatch four baby Cluckshrooms.
- Hatched chicks grow naturally into adults.
Every Mushroom Egg also has a rare 1-in-500 chance to produce a random survival-obtainable Overworld item.
Items exclusive to the Nether or End, technical blocks, unobtainable items and other unsuitable rewards are excluded from the random reward pool.
Golden Fish
The Golden Fish is an extremely rare and valuable food that can be obtained while fishing. Without any special effects, its base fishing chance is 0.2%.
Eating a Golden Fish:
- Restores 4 hunger points.
- Provides saturation comparable to a Golden Apple.
- Grants Regeneration II for 10 seconds.
- Grants Water Breathing for 5 minutes.
- Provides two temporary golden hearts.
Obtaining a Golden Fish for the first time unlocks the Golden Catch! advancement.
Golden Fishing Potion
Golden Fish can be used to brew a Golden Fishing Potion.
While the Golden Fishing effect is active, the chance of catching another Golden Fish increases from 0.2% to 20%.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes are farmable crops planted using Tomato Seeds. They grow through several stages and can be harvested by right-clicking a mature plant without destroying it.
After harvesting, the plant returns to an earlier growth stage and continues growing.
A mature regular tomato plant can produce:
- Regular Tomatoes — 96.5%
- Rotten Tomato — 3%
- Yellow Tomato — 0.5%
Yellow Tomatoes
Yellow Tomatoes are rare and highly nutritious. They restore 6 hunger points and provide the same saturation modifier as a Golden Carrot.
A Yellow Tomato can be crafted into Yellow Tomato Seeds. These seeds grow a separate yellow tomato crop.
A mature yellow tomato plant usually produces 2–3 Yellow Tomatoes, but it has a 10% chance to produce a Rotten Tomato instead.
Rotten Tomatoes
Rotten Tomatoes are not completely useless. They can be thrown like snowballs, giving unsuccessful harvests a simple and entertaining purpose.
Berries
Vanillume introduces two new berry varieties:
- Sour Berries
- Blackberries
Each berry has its own bush with four growth stages. These bushes grow, slow entities, deal damage and can be harvested similarly to vanilla Sweet Berry Bushes.
Harvested berries can be replanted to grow new bushes.
Berry Jams
Sweet Berries, Sour Berries and Blackberries can each be turned into a special jam with a unique temporary effect.
- Sweet Berry Jam grants Regeneration for 5 seconds.
- Sour Berry Jam grants Speed for 10 seconds.
- Blackberry Jam grants temporary Cold Resistance and protects the player from freezing inside Powder Snow.
Jams:
- Use a drinking animation.
- Stack up to 16.
- Return an empty Glass Bottle after consumption.
Colored Bricks
Vanillume expands the vanilla brick block set with colored brick variants.
These decorative blocks maintain the familiar appearance of Minecraft bricks while providing more building options. Their colors match the standard Minecraft palette, allowing them to work naturally alongside concrete, wool, terracotta and other decorative blocks.
Copper Equipment
Copper Bucket
The Copper Bucket is an early-game alternative to the regular Iron Bucket.
- Empty Copper Buckets stack up to 16.
- They can collect and place water.
- They cannot collect lava.
- Copper Water Buckets do not stack.
Copper Shears
Copper Shears work similarly to regular vanilla Shears. They can be used on sheep, leaves, vines and other compatible blocks, providing another practical early-game use for copper.
Fried Eggs
Regular Eggs can be cooked into Fried Eggs, providing a simple new food source and an additional survival use for eggs.
Additional Crafting Recipes
Vanillume introduces useful crafting recipes inspired by newer versions of Minecraft:
- Saddles can be crafted.
- Name Tags can be crafted.
These recipes make both items renewable without completely removing the value of exploration and structure loot.

- Neutral Bears with custom AI, sounds and animations
