Description

Villagers Regen

Villagers Regen is small project that I did for personal purposes to use on my server, but I thought it was nice to share it. Villagers Regen is a simple, lightweight mod that adds natural health regeneration to villagers, designed to compensate for their notoriously dumb AI and pathfinding behavior. Usually villagers wander around, fall off cliffs, small steps, take random fall damage from their own random movement, and generally seem to have no sense of self preservation whatsoever. It doesn't matter if you wall their village or if you remove all the dangers, they will always find a way to hurt themselves. This mod addresses that by giving villagers a slow, natural regeneration effect over time. The healing rate is intentionally kept reasonable and balanced: just half a heart every 10 seconds.

This mod is not meant to make villagers invincible or trivialize their survival, it's meant to smooth out the small, annoying, and frankly unfair damage they take just from existing and moving around in a world with their questionable pathfinding.

To be clear about what this mod does and does not do: it will not save your villagers from zombie attacks, raids, or any other combat related damage. If a zombie gets to your villager, that villager is still very much in danger, exactly like in vanilla. What this mod does do is let villagers slowly recover from the accidental, non combat damage they tend to accumulate over time, fall damage from clumsy pathfinding being the most common culprit.

The end result is that, instead of caging your villagers, you can let them roam more freely around your base or village without needing to constantly babysit them, check on their health, or worry that a random fall down a hill will bring them dangerously close to death. You still need to keep them safe from actual threats like zombies during raids or at night. This mod doesn't change that part of the gameplay at all. It simply removes one small hassle that has nothing to do with actual danger and everything to do with their pathfinding quirks. This mod doesn't add unnecessary complexity, just villagers that can recover from their own clumsiness :)
