Description

Vintner

Vintner is a vineyard and winemaking mod focused on physical, in-world production.

Build connected trellis rows, grow red and white grapevines, harvest grapes, produce must, ferment it in barrels, and age it into finished wine.

Current Features

  • Connected vineyard trellises
  • Vertical vineyard construction
  • Vineyard rows across uneven terrain
  • Multiple grapevine growth stages
  • Red and white grapes
  • Survival harvesting
  • Red and white grape must
  • Barrel fermentation
  • Wine ageing
  • Red and white wine
  • Visible barrel progress and readiness states

From Vine to Bottle

The current production process is:

  1. Build connected trellis rows.
  2. Plant and grow grapevines.
  3. Harvest red or white grapes.
  4. Produce the corresponding grape must.
  5. Add the must to a compatible barrel.
  6. Allow the batch to ferment.
  7. Continue ageing the wine.
  8. Bottle the finished result.

Vintner

Vintner brings complete vineyard cultivation and winemaking to Minecraft.

Build connected oak trellises, establish red and white grapevines, prepare vineyard soil, and train vines into mature two-block canopies. Harvest grapes whose vintage and quality reflect the conditions in which they were grown, then transform them into finished wine through pressing, fermentation, and ageing.

Features

  • Red and white grape cultivars
  • Two-block-high grapevines with harvesting and regrowth
  • Renewable grape cuttings through pruning
  • Fence-style trellises with corners, junctions, isolated placement, and automatic end braces
  • Prepared vineyard soil and vineyard-condition inspection
  • Grape vintage and quality determined by growing conditions
  • Manual grape pressing and bottling
  • Fermentation and ageing barrels with visible progress
  • Red, white, and aged wines with quality-sensitive effects
  • Comparator support for all winemaking machines
  • Farmer and wandering-trader access to starter cuttings
  • Village chest integration
  • A complete advancement path from the first cutting to aged wine

Getting Started

Acquire a red or white grape cutting from a farmer, wandering trader, or village house chest.

Craft oak trellises using four sticks and an iron chain, then construct a row two trellises high. Prepare suitable soil beneath the trellis with compost and plant the cutting on its lower section.

Once the vine reaches the upper trellis and matures, harvest its grapes. Press four matching grapes into must, ferment four bottles of matching must into wine, and age the wine to improve its quality.

Mature vines can be pruned with shears to obtain renewable cuttings.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 26.2
  • Fabric Loader 0.19.3 or newer
  • Fabric API
  • Java 25

Roadmap

Vintner is being developed in small, stable phases. The current focus is establishing the core vineyard and winemaking experience before expanding into deeper systems.

Planned areas include:

  • Improved vineyard growth and maintenance
  • Meaningful wine effects and food pairings
  • Wine quality, vintages, ageing, and cellars
  • Additional grape varieties
  • Soil, climate, and terroir systems
  • Vineyard estates, trade, and reputation
  • World-generated vineyard content and rare discoveries
  • Compatibility with farming, seasons, transport, and settlement mods
  • Advanced wines, blending, and larger-scale production

Features and priorities may change as development and testing continue. Each update will remain focused on a small, playable, and testable part of the overall experience.
