My take on what the End Update can be — the endgame deserves more than one flat rock.

🌌 Voidlorn

My take on the End Update - one fan's vision of where the story could still go.

The screenshots were taken using Septonious' "Solar Shaders"

Voidlorn rebuilds the End's terrain from the ground up. Instead of one flat landmass with a handful of identical floating rocks, you get scattered archipelagos of islands separated by real void, small stepping-stone islets to keep you exploring, and rare floating obsidian monoliths drifting between them. Same portal, same dragon fight untouched at spawn - it's still your End, just finally worth flying around in.

💭 Why I'm building this

The dragon fight is a genuinely cool moment - the fall into the void, that first look at the outer islands. I just always wished the story kept going a little further past it. Once the fight's over, there's not much pulling you back: no biomes, only a couple of structures, and once you've got your elytra there's not a lot of reason to stay.

This mod is my own take on what the rest of that story could look like - not a rewrite of what's already there, just a fan's attempt at giving the End, and the late game in general (which Minecraft has never really had much of), somewhere further to go.

🏝️ What's in right now

  • Fully rebuilt End terrain: archipelagos of islands with real void between them, not one big landmass
  • Small filler islets so there's always somewhere to land between the bigger islands
  • Rare floating obsidian and crying obsidian monoliths drifting through the void

🎛️ Extremely configurable

Nearly every number that shapes the generation is exposed in the config file: island size, spacing, height range, how many islets fill the gaps, how often monoliths show up - all with sane defaults and documented limits so you can't accidentally break anything. If it feels too dense or too empty for your taste, you can change that yourself without waiting on me.

🧩 Compatibility

Voidlorn is built to play nice with other End-focused mods where possible. Biomes from other mods that tag themselves into the vanilla End tag get pulled into the archipelago automatically - no setup needed on either side. There's also a config toggle to hand generation back to vanilla entirely, for anyone running a mod that overhauls the End its own way.

This is the area I'm most actively working on, and I genuinely want your feedback here. If something clashes with another mod, tell me. Compatibility reports (and honestly, anything else you run into) are the most useful thing you can send me right now.

🔭 What's coming

This is just the terrain layer. Planned next: actual biomes with their own identity, new creatures that belong in the End, and more reasons to explore than "there's an island over there." Nothing locked in stone yet - I'd rather build it around what people actually want than guess.

💬 Feedback

Voidlorn is young and still finding its shape. If something looks broken, feels unbalanced, or just doesn't sit right with you, say so - that's exactly the kind of feedback that decides where this goes next.
