Wanderers Across Worlds

Wanderers Across Worlds

A companion for every world.

Wanderers Across Worlds is a standalone companion mod for NeoForge 1.21.1. Meet characters from across fiction — Re:Zero, Genshin Impact, Steven Universe — as fully-modelled, living party members. Every companion is built into the mod: install it and they are all there, with an in-game Hub to turn each of them on or off.

Two editions. This is the self-contained one: the whole roster ships inside the jar. The Modrinth release is the modular one — companions are browsed and installed from the in-game Hub and update live, so new characters arrive without waiting for a mod update. The gameplay is identical in both.

A living party — not followers

  • Converse. Sit down and talk. Each companion has branching, authored conversations — jokes, stories, and real exchanges that grow your Affinity over time (no romance; these are other creators' characters, written true to them).
  • They have a story to tell you. Some carry an arc in chapters that open only as she comes to trust you — and she tells you she is ready out loud, rather than quietly growing a button.
  • They have their own relationships. Companions befriend or resent each other, striking up multi-turn banter, remembering authored scenes with callbacks, and electing a party Peacemaker to defuse arguments you can then help settle.
  • Moods that matter. A Sims-like moodlet system: what happens around them shapes how they feel — and their mood changes how hard they hit and how fast they warm to you.
  • Living memories. They remember notable moments — a near-death, a boss felled, a first trip to the Nether — and bring them up, unprompted, later.
  • A life of their own. Found a home and send one to live there: she claims a bed and sleeps in it, strolls indoors, sits down on your furniture, talks to her housemates, and calls on the neighbours.
  • They look after you. They eat and drink from their own packs, hold out food or a spare tool when you plainly need one, and dive off the cliff into the lake after you.

Combat & progression

  • Per-character skill trees — themed branches, ranks, and keystones, filling out exactly at max level.
  • Combat by role — casters kite while they reload, healers reposition to a wounded ally, guardians stand in front, each with their own skills and ultimates.
  • Down, not gone. A fallen companion is knocked down, not deleted — revive her in the field, or recover her later. No losing your friends to a stray creeper.

Finding them

Most wanderers cross over somewhere in your world and wait to be found. Some are not left to chance: Rose Quartz keeps a fountain, and it generates in flower forests and cherry groves — finding the fountain is finding her.

The hub's Chronicle keeps track of all of it: where everyone is, who lives where, and the moments each of them remembers of the journey.

Built from scratch

  • High-quality GeckoLib models with second-order spring physics (hair & cloth), dynamic head tracking, and speech bubbles — they feel alive.
  • Zero dependencies.

The roster

Re:Zero — Rem · Ram · Emilia · Puck
Genshin Impact — Sangonomiya Kokomi · Furina · Columbina
Steven Universe — Rose Quartz

Requires NeoForge 1.21.1 (Minecraft 1.21.1, Java 21). Actively developed — expect new companions and systems. Fan-made, non-commercial companion content; every model, texture and animation is credited to its artist in-game.
