🧭 Wayfarer's Wonders
Make every journey worth taking.
Wayfarer's Wonders adds 66 handcrafted structures to world generation, so the land between your base and the horizon is full of places worth stopping at. Each structure is built for the biome it appears in, with its own materials, layout, loot and character. A watchtower in the snow looks nothing like one in the jungle canopy.
There are two layers:
- 🛤️ 60 roadside structures that make everyday exploration richer: towers, camps, shrines, homesteads, mills, ruins, graveyards and landmarks.
- ⚔️ 6 legendary Wonders: full dungeons with custom bosses, vaults and one-of-a-kind artifacts for the endgame.
No new blocks, no mods, no texture packs. It's pure vanilla-style content that feels like it always belonged in Minecraft.
🛤️ Along the Road: 60 structures in 8 families
🗼 Watchtowers (11)
A different tower for every biome: Plains, Birchwood, Taiga, Frostwatch, Sandstone, Mesa, Canopy (on stilts in the jungle), Bog (on mangrove stilts), Savanna, Deepslate Bastion and a three-tiered Cherry Pagoda. Climb the floors past storage, barracks and an armory to the lookout at the top, with loot all the way.
🏕️ Travellers' Camps (7)
- A merchant caravan with covered wagons and a trader
- A nomad encampment with a striped tent, palms and camels
- A hunter's camp with drying racks and wolves
- A polar expedition with an igloo and sled
- A savanna outpost
- A jungle explorer's dig with suspicious gravel to brush
- A prospector's claim with a gold mine you can ride into
⛩️ Shrines (7)
A wayside chapel with a bell tower, a desert Sun Obelisk, a colossal Jungle Idol, a Blossom Shrine with torii gates and a koi pond, a ring of ice pillars, a Witch's Altar, and a climber's cairn in the mountains.
🏡 Homesteads (12), most with a named trader
- A farmstead with barn, fields and animals
- A beekeeper's cottage with real beehives
- A lumberjack's lodge and sawmill
- A trapper's cabin
- A fisherman's hut with a dock
- A swamp hermit's stilt house
- An adobe trading post with market stalls
- A savanna kraal of thatched huts
- A treehouse around a giant trunk
- A cherry blossom teahouse with a zen garden
- A mushroom dwelling
- A miner's homestead
🌾 Mills (3)
An old windmill, a desert windmill and a riverside watermill, each with its own miller.
🏚️ Ruins (8)
- A fallen keep
- A forsaken chapel
- A sand-swallowed temple full of archaeology
- A frozen bastion
- An abandoned manor thick with cobwebs
- Cliff dwellings carved into the badlands
- An overgrown jungle ziggurat
- The towering Gate of the Old Kings
⚰️ Graveyards (3)
A churchyard, a frozen barrowfield and a blackstone cemetery, each with a crypt and monster spawner waiting below.
🗿 Landmarks (9)
- Giant fossils in the desert and badlands, each with a paleontologist camp
- Standing stones
- A crashed hot-air balloon
- A bandit hideout with a captured merchant to free
- A beached galleon
- A desert oasis
- The Sword in the Stone
- A smoking meteor crater hiding amethyst and treasure
⚔️ The Six Wonders
Start your search at The Wayfarer's Rest, a roadside inn with traders, a map room and a secret hidden in its cellar. The maps upstairs lead to the five dungeons:
| Wonder | Found in | Guardian | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🌊 The Drowned Lighthouse | coasts | Captain Morrow | Tidecaller: swim like a dolphin, breathe underwater |
| ⚒️ Deepforge Hold | mountains | Forgemaster Brokk | Forgemaster's Hammer: a mighty mace that grants haste |
| 🔮 The Archmage's Spire | dark & birch forests | Archmage Iren | Archmage's Tome: slowly mends your wounds |
| 🔥 The Ember Sanctum | badlands & deserts | Ember Warden | Ember Heart: immunity to fire and lava |
| ❄️ The Frost Barrow | snowy lands | The Frost King | Frostbound Crown: shields you when your health runs low |
Every Wonder has:
- Fights: themed trial spawners and a custom boss with a boss bar, special attacks and an enraged second phase
- A key and a vault: the guardian drops a key that opens its own vault, once per player, so everyone in multiplayer gets their own reward
- Puzzles: set the runic levers to open Deepforge's treasury, or find the bookshelf that hides the Archmage's study
The inn's hidden stash adds a sixth artifact, the Wayfarer's Lantern. Collect all six to become a Legend of the Road.
✨ Why you'll love it
- The world feels lived in. There's always something on the next hill, and it fits the biome it's in.
- Friendly faces: 18 named traders with custom deals, including enchanted books, tools, armor trims and rare goods.
- Loot worth opening: 95 hand-tuned loot tables, plus archaeology loot in suspicious sand and gravel.
- A reason to explore: two advancement tabs with 99 advancements. Wayfarer's Road tracks every structure family, up to the World Wanderer challenge.
- Discovery moments: a title appears on screen the first time you find each structure.
- A guide in your pocket: every player gets the Wayfarer's Journal on first join.
- Easy to locate: find any single structure or a whole family, e.g.
/locate structure #wayfarer:watchtowers.
✅ Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21 and 1.21.1
- Pure datapack: works on vanilla, Paper/Spigot, Fabric, Forge and NeoForge
- Server-side only: players don't need to install anything
- Terralith biomes supported out of the box (optional)
- Uses its own namespace and spacing, and keeps clear of villages, so it plays nicely with other structure packs and mods
❓ FAQ
Can I add it to an existing world? Yes. New structures appear in chunks you haven't explored yet.
Is it safe to update? Yes. As always, back up your world first.
How do I install it?
When creating a world, open Data Packs and drop the zip in. For an existing world or a server, put it in world/datapacks/ and run /reload. Modded players can also use a global-datapack mod such as Paxi or Global Packs.
How do I find structures?
Explore, or use the maps in the Wayfarer's Rest. Operators can use /locate structure wayfarer:<name> or a family tag:
#wayfarer:watchtowers, camps, shrines, homesteads, mills, ruins, graveyards, landmarks.
Does it change vanilla structures or loot?
No. Everything lives in its own wayfarer namespace.
How do I uninstall?
Run /function wayfarer:uninstall, remove the zip and /reload. Structures that already generated stay in your world.
I lost my journal!
Ask an operator to run /function wayfarer:journal/give.
Can I use it in my modpack? Yes, with credit and a link back to this page.
Found a bug? Please open an issue with your Minecraft version, other mods or datapacks, and the coordinates.
