Description
The boomerang is a brand-new ranged weapon for Minecraft featuring a unique flight mechanic that fits seamlessly into the vanilla game.
Instead of traveling in a straight line, the weapon follows an arc toward the player's crosshair before returning to them. The boomerang's range and lateral deviation depend on the "wind-up": a minimal wind-up results in a 3-block sideways shift and a range of 3 blocks, while a maximum wind-up yields a 1-block sideways shift and a range of 25 blocks.
Since the boomerang follows a complex trajectory, the indicator beneath the crosshair shows when it reaches a block or a mob.
In addition to its base damage (6), the boomerang deals increased damage based on the strength of the throw, with a maximum damage multiplier of 2.5.
The boomerang can also ricochet; this not only increases the likelihood and number of hits but also doubles the damage. It ricochets twice: on the first ricochet, the damage is doubled (x2 multiplier), while on the second, the multiplier resets and the boomerang returns to the player.
The boomerang has 90 durability points, which can be replenished using wind charges at an anvil or in the crafting grid (1 charge = 10 durability). It doesn't break when durability runs out; instead, it becomes "depleted"—a state indicated by a flashing pattern on the item itself.
You can find the boomerang in Trial Chambers within Ominous Vaults (10% chance). It drops in a depleted state, so make sure to stock up on wind charges beforehand.
