About

Description

Wishsmith is a vanilla-friendly utility mod that expands Minecraft with one focused goal: turning long-requested survival items and blocks into balanced crafting recipes that feel like they should already exist in the base game.

Instead of adding new machines, extra progression systems, or feature bloat, Wishsmith improves the everyday survival experience by giving players more control over useful vanilla content that is normally locked behind random loot, rare structures, or specific villager trades.

## What the mod adds

- Craftable saddle
- Craftable name tag
- Craftable cobweb
- Craftable bell
- Craftable enchanted golden apple with a very expensive recipe
- Craftable full chainmail armor set
- Craftable iron, gold, and diamond horse armor
- Rotten flesh smelting into leather
- Craftable crying obsidian
- Craftable gilded blackstone
- Craftable calcite
- Craftable spore blossom

## How this changes gameplay

- Survival feels less dependent on random chest loot because key utility items can be earned through crafting.
- Builders get better access to decorative blocks like calcite, cobwebs, bells, gilded blackstone, and spore blossoms.
- Nether progression becomes more flexible with a craftable path to crying obsidian.
- Rotten flesh becomes more useful instead of being almost pure trash, because it can be recycled into leather.
- Horse-related progression becomes less frustrating because saddles and horse armor are no longer loot-only.
- Players who want a vanilla+ feeling can solve common annoyances without turning the game into a tech pack.

## Example player experience

In a normal survival world, players often reach a point where they have the resources to build and explore, but still cannot craft basic utility items they clearly should be able to make. You may have leather, iron, gold, string, chains, quartz, amethyst, and ghast tears, but still be forced to rely on luck for things like saddles, name tags, crying obsidian, or decorative blocks.

Wishsmith fixes that feeling by letting your existing survival resources matter more. If you invest in mining, farming, Nether trips, mob drops, and cave exploration, you can convert those efforts into practical vanilla rewards instead of waiting for RNG to cooperate.

## Design philosophy

- Vanilla-first balance
- No new ores, dimensions, mobs, or systems
- Recipes are meant to be readable and intuitive
- Expensive items stay expensive
- Useful items stay useful
- The mod is designed to feel like a quality-of-life extension of Minecraft, not a total overhaul

## Best for

- Vanilla+ players
- Survival and SMP servers
- Utility-focused modpacks
- Builders who want more renewable decorative options
- Players who dislike loot-only progression for simple utility items
