Description
World Anchor
Keep your farms, machines, storage systems, and construction sites running while you travel far away or work in another dimension.
World Anchor is a lightweight Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 focused on construction, automation, and logistics. It keeps a configurable square of chunks loaded with full ticking through Forge's native chunk-ticket system. It does not simulate a player and does not use FakePlayer, Mixins, CoreMods, or invasive vanilla changes.
Features
World Anchor
- Loads a 3x3 chunk area with full ticking by default.
- Uses Redstone Blocks as fuel.
- One Redstone Block provides five hours of operation at 20 TPS.
- Its interface shows status, loaded area, fuel, and remaining time.
- Accepts Redstone Blocks through standard Forge item automation.
Recipe:
Gold Ingot Sand Gold Ingot
Glass Redstone Block Glass
Gold Ingot Sand Gold Ingot
Perpetual World Anchor
- Loads the same 3x3 chunk area with full ticking.
- Requires no fuel and operates continuously while the world or server is running.
- Requires at least 20 experience levels to bind; the levels are consumed when crafted.
- Automated crafting cannot bypass the binding cost.
Recipe:
Gold Block Diamond Block Gold Block
Obsidian World Anchor Obsidian
Gold Block Glass Gold Block
No Nether Star, Beacon, or custom reinforced glass is required.
Runic Anchor Key
Use the Runic Anchor Key on a placed anchor to retrieve the complete block safely. When used on a normal World Anchor, its stored fuel and remaining operating time are preserved.
Breaking an anchor with the required pickaxe dismantles it and returns its recipe components instead.
Area visualization
- Hold an anchor, sneak, and right-click a block to preview its placement area for 15 seconds without placing it.
- Open a placed anchor and select Show Area to display a magical particle boundary around the chunks it maintains.
- The interface displays the exact diameter and total chunk count.
Configuration
The world server configuration includes:
- World Anchor radius
- Perpetual World Anchor radius
- Safety limit for chunks per anchor
- Redstone Block duration
- Perpetual Anchor experience cost
The default radius is 1, producing a 3x3 area. Larger areas can substantially increase CPU, memory, and save activity, especially when many machines or farms remain active.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.x
- Java 17
- The mod must be installed on both client and server
Important limitations
- World Anchor does not create a fake player. Mob spawning and mechanics that explicitly require a nearby player are not enabled.
- The game or dedicated server must remain running.
- Some third-party machines may impose their own player-presence requirements.
- Five hours represents 360,000 server ticks. Fuel lasts longer in real time if the server runs below 20 TPS.
Technical and world safety
- Uses Forge's native persistent chunk tickets with ticking enabled.
- Safely releases tickets when an anchor is removed or dismantled.
- Cleans stale or out-of-range tickets during world loading.
- Persists fuel, remaining time, and ticket ownership.
- Existing anchors from version 1.0.0 update directly to 1.1.0 because their registry identifiers are preserved.
Always back up important worlds before adding, removing, or updating any world-affecting mod.
