A mod where most of the vanilla items, blocks entities are long gone, and in their place, a giant, orange, dead post-nuclear wasteland awaits the player.

WHAT YEAR IS IT?

Welcome to Year of the Bomb, a mod that simulates the events of total nuclear annihilation, with highly-destructive, Khronium-powered bombs that strike the surface of Minecraft's Overworld and completely devastate, disfiguring it beyond any sort of recognition or resemblance to the original Minecraft landscape. Most mobs have been extinct, most kinds of blocks totally wiped out, water completely evaporated, and the air poisoned with deadly radiation that slowly builds up on the player. Mutated mob and animal hybrids, ruins of the past holding key details about the true origin story of the Wasteland, and endless secrets to uncover on the latest Fallout-inspired Minecraft mod: Year of the Bomb.

LESS MINECRAFT, MORE YOTB

Year of the bomb offers a version of the Minecraft gameplay where instead of the mod being an addition to the game, it IS the game. Mostly. Year of the Bomb's features are the main features in a world with the mod, while Mojang's Vanilla features are not as abundant or important to the functioning of a survival world on this mod. The player spawns on The Wasteland, and the giant majority of resources you can find naturally and/or craft are ones added by the mod. As of Alpha 1 which is when this description is being written, the only Vanilla features in YOTB are:

  • stones

  • sticks

  • planks

  • some minor function items like Furnace, Chest and Anvil

  • 'Chest Filler' items like Leather and Cobweb

  • Lava

  • TnT

That is the full list. If you find any Vanilla resources or features outside of the list, please contact me on discord (sr_steve404) since it might be an oversight or bug.

SURVIVE AWAY

The main goal of YOTB (at least so far) is to survive in the unforgiving Wasteland of the mod. Days are spent gathering every last breadcrumb-equivalent of resources and fighting against radiation, while nights are spent avoiding the lethal Skreeper and the relentless Cockorpion. Without any way to make beds in the game, one is forced to have to face the night monsters of the Wasteland. You can't sleep, and your only option is fighting the irradiated hybrids of the night. Well, you technically can sleep, but you'd need to find a bed, and the only beds are in the secret structure, an underground bunker.

BUNKER 7

This special, lore-heavy secret structure within the mod carries THE most information that would help one figuer out the backstory and buried lore of this mod. This chamber includes many exclusive blocks like the Metal Door and the TV, includes the mod's most overpowered food, the Flyraven Food Pack, which regenerates half your food bar, and most importantly, it includes a lootable corpse with a hidden diary awaiting for the player to find it. Can you find this hidden time capsule of the pre-apocalypse by yourself in the Survival world?
