About the mod
YourLine is a large-scale mod and server project by the DESKPED community, created by Kuwma. It runs on Forge 1.20.1 and turns ordinary survival into an atmospheric RPG experience with its own lore, mechanics and progression.
The defining feature of YourLine is character customization. You build your own race and its abilities by flipping switches, then use the resulting elements, superpowers and mechanics directly in the world. This is not a pile of separate items but a single system where the player becomes the center of a world that reacts to their growth.
The questionnaire and customization
When you enter the world, a questionnaire greets you. You can fill it out and it will show up in your inventory. Customization is the heart of it.
Unlike Origins, YourLine offers more affiliations, and with them more abilities that will help or complicate your survival. You can enable up to three abilities at once. To lift that limit you need the Realm, a stone that is hard to obtain.
Races and attributes
Attributes are what you assign to your character through a dedicated menu and save. One minimum, three maximum. Every attribute works alongside the others, so it is the combination that shapes your playstyle.
There are 18 races, split across affiliations:
- Forest: Human, Winged, Druid
- Mountains: Dwarf, Ancient Race, Goblin
- Desert: Fiery, Arachnid, Lizard
- Ocean: Merfolk, Amphibian, Icy
- Nether: Lava, Demon, Skeleton
- End: Air, Enderman, Dragon
Each race carries its own strengths and weaknesses. The Winged fly freely but cannot wear a chestplate. The Dwarf gets tenfold luck when mining ore but sinks in water like a brick. The Enderman teleports along their line of sight but takes massive damage from water. The balance of pros and cons turns picking a race into a real decision.
World and structures
Generation is mostly standard, but only forest, ocean, mountains and desert remain out of all the biomes. The world is filled with structures to clear, reminiscent of Terraria dungeons blended with structures from newer Minecraft versions.
To open a structure and earn the right to clear it, you have to blow up a specific spot inside it. There are few mobs, and they exist to make gameplay inside structures harder and to drop resources that upgrade your armor.
Mechanics and items
YourLine adds dozens of items, blocks and mechanics built for adventure rather than industry. Among them:
- A gravity wrench that lets you lift and throw blocks
- A grappling hook for a dash to a block up to 33 blocks away
- A rope that drops endlessly downward and sways in the wind
- A backpack that holds more than a regular chest and rides in the chestplate slot
- A crystal eye for teleporting to your last point of death
- Wires, sirens, fans, a block placer and other redstone machines
- A set of decorative blocks: framed, iron, oxidized and rusted
Atmosphere and lore
The interface is the calling card of YourLine. A cosmic style intertwines with the crystal planet Nova and the flat worlds, part of the nine-year DESKPED lore.
The world keeps its own hidden history. Special items, masks, keys and artifacts, along with dynamic events, affect your run and tie the server to a larger universe.
