Getting Started

Beecraft is a Fabric-based modpack intended to incorporate several simple gameplay expansion mods with straightforward optimization and shader support out-of-the-box.

Client Installation

To simply play the modpack, search for it in the Modrinth launcher application or another supported launcher. You may download a .mrpack file from the Versions page if that is more helpful for you.  

Server Installation

As with any client-side modpack, it is easy to run a local server by simply opening your game to your LAN.

Running a dedicated server is more involved and requires background understanding of how to install and operate a Fabric server. If you want to run a dedicated server, you are strongly advised to load a .mrpack file available in the Versions page in a launcher capable of creating a working server directory for you. If you want or need to populate the server mods directory by hand, the following are necessary to provide a feature-complete experience for Beecraft clients. Be advised that, in the course of manual installation, you would need to figure out cross-compatibility yourself:

Design Principles

Before all other considerations, a desire for simplicity and easy-to-grasp mechanics steers this modpack.

Over many years, we have observed that casual players seeking to ease themselves into the modded Minecraft experience are often overwhelmed by modpacks with half a thousand mods, a dozen new dimensions, and five copies of the same machines. We seek to avoid confusing, overloading, and burning out prospective modded Minecraft players.

Gameplay Expansion

A game with well-considered design language invites the player to learn deeper mechanics simply by playing; while it is fine to need to look up the details of a game's mechanics in a wiki, it is far preferable that the design of items and gameplay interactions steer the player to figure things out without needing to read a reference guide. We identify Create, The Graveyard, Fabric Waystones, and Grappling Hook Mod: Restitched as four (often-underappreciated) mods that facilitate this style of in vivo learning.

Shader Support

It is hoped that anyone -- whether preferring Iris- or Optifine-format shaders -- may use this modpack out of the box. Iris Shaders is included alongside with a slew of mods providing Fabric-stack support for features of the Optifine shader/texture format.

Optimization

A variety of bugfix, optimization, and menu improvement mods are included. This modpack's optimization mods were included with older or less-powerful systems in mind; it is anticipated that players on low-end systems will enjoy stable framerates and stability improvements while high-end system users may crank settings to the max.
