Summary
Beneath Cursed Skies (BCS) is a long-term survival modpack. You wake in a graveyard after your own burial ceremony. From there, you must survive in a dying world where several infections continue to spread.
You can build a home, but it may not remain safe for long. You must explore to survive, even when leaving your walls means entering infected land. There is a slight touch of psychological horror, but it is not constant or unfair. Strange events can happen inside or outside your home. Some threats use psychological horror instead of direct combat.
The world is dying
The enemies do more than attack you. They alter terrain and build local networks. If these networks survive, their territory becomes stronger and harder to reclaim.
The creatures in this world are not all on the same side. They can fight each other. In other situations, they may ignore one another and hunt you.
Daylight does not stop the undead. Many monsters can track noise or blood. Running can reveal your position, and an injury can leave a trail.
Your base is not safe
Infections can replace nearby blocks. Hordes can cross the area around your home. Some creatures can break weak defenses. If an infection source remains active, it can consume a base that took many days to build.
You must watch the land around your home and destroy threats before they develop. Your defenses must change as the world becomes more dangerous. Sometimes the correct choice is to leave and build again somewhere else.
Taking back the land
If you survive for long enough, you can start to recover lost ground. You can destroy local infection networks and make an area safer. The larger goal is to bring life back to abandoned villages and protect the people who return.
This work takes time. A recovered place remains inside the same dangerous world. It can fall again if you cannot defend it.
Public beta
Version 0.1.0 is the first public beta. The current release focuses on survival, exploration, base defense, and the conflict between the infections.
Balance and progression are still in development. Lore and village restoration will expand during the beta.
