Biscotto

A vanilla+ modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, built to play with friends. The world still feels like Minecraft. It just has better ground to walk over and better things to find on it.

The world

• Bigger land: taller mountains, wider rivers, continents farther apart, and flat ground left in on purpose so you have room to build
• Caves are tunnels: no huge open caverns, just passages you follow without knowing where they come out
• Better structures: vanilla structures rebuilt at a bigger scale, with new dungeons, ruins and cities in the empty land between them
• Reworked Nether and End: new biomes, terrain and structures, and the path to the End is a hunt across all three dimensions
• See far: Distant Horizons draws the landscape out to the horizon, and shaders are ready to switch on

Playing

• Deeper enchanting and gear. Mending is earned, not bought from a librarian
• Relics and artifacts to find and wear
• Backpacks that grow as you gain experience
• Graves that keep your whole inventory when you die
• Furniture and building blocks for your base

With friends

• Waystones scattered across the world. You can't craft them, so every one is a place you found
• Parties with teammates shown on the map
• Ride together: two players on one horse
• Loot for everyone: every chest has its own loot for each player
• Ping wheel to mark spots for your friends

Installing

Use the CurseForge App. A few mods here don't allow third-party downloads, and the App is the only launcher that gets them for you. Launch once, let it reach the main menu, then create a world.

Recommended Java settings: allocate 8–12 GB of RAM (12–16 GB on CPUs with 10+ cores), and replace the Java arguments with: -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+ZGenerational (CurseForge → Settings → Minecraft → Java Settings → Additional Arguments.)

Server: download the server pack. It holds no mods: it downloads every one on first start. Needs Java 21. Instructions are in its README.

Every mod belongs to its author and keeps its own license. The pack's own configs are MIT licensed.
