What is BistoCraft?
BistroCraft is a Modded Survival Multiplayer server run by the 8 Bit Bistro Community. The majority of the players on BistroCraft are streamers, while the remainder are their friends and trusted community. This modpack is the BistroCraft SMP server package, provided exactly as is configured for the server. This allows both the BistoCraft members an easily accessible mod package as well as acting as a method for viewers to download and play at home with the exact experience that the streamers are experiencing.
This Modpack is hand curated and focuses on trying to retain a "Vanilla experience", limiting features that exceed these expectations only if they provide a meaningful contribution toward gameplay mechanics or interesting world exploration and generation. Focusing predominately on a gameplay loop that stays faithful to the Vanilla experience, it expands on it by making the concept of exploring the world more enticing, adding environmental mobs that make the world generation interesting without overwhelming the player with too much new and unknown feature through the act of travel. Instead, players are treated to changed and modified world generation as a means of modifying the experience, as well as redefining the cave system to discourage (but not entirely stop) strip-mining in favor of a more exploration focused experience.
Combat is fundamentally untouched, instead focusing on allowing more items through exploration while sitting an additional complexity through three different magic systems, each with their own pros and cons against investment versus power reward. Ultimately, the main focus on combat is about diversity and choice, attempting to prevent any singular method of magic completely overtaking any of the others in all aspects.
Building is supplemented by another of cosmetic and practical blocks, helping players to design worlds that are more immersive but still retaining Minecraft's original approach of placing blocks and gathering resources. No overly complex structural interactions are present, and instead should generally be easily understood as "build block, place block." The hope is that you can build what you want how you want, but not need to needlessly deal with intricate sub-systems that you have to learn - that should be saved for combat mechanics which reward depth of complexity and skill development/investment.
