About
Description
DISCLAIMER: I made none of the mods included in this pack.
Intended mostly for private use with friends, although I suppose you could use it as well. The more victims the merrier...
This mod pack was specifically made to be played long-term (doing everything in one world), balanced (no big scary men that spawn beside you and instantly kill you), tense (no jumpscares every 5 minutes) and as much within Minecraft's identity as possible (no FNaF or Siren Head). If there is a feature or set of features that slip by me that violate any of these, inform me about it.
Don't forget to use the resource packs provided, and I would recommend using advancements as a guide.
Notable features/mods include
- "The Deep Void" by Mortius; if you mess up you go here.
- "Epic Mob Siege: Nightmare" by greenchiss; monsters are incredibly determined to destroy you.
- "Sanity: Descent Into Madness" by croissantnova; the world affects more than just your body.
- "Lucent" by ModdingLegacy; dynamic lights to see better the horrors.
- "The Root of Fear" by alexandersfunandgames; a monster that attacks every few nights.
- Various and numerous quality of life mods to bring the experience together.
- So much more that awaits for you in the dark...
For the best performance I recommend using these settings...
- Biome blend OFF
- Max FPS to 60
- Graphics to FAST
- Render distance and simulation distance both to 8 or 9
- Clouds OFF
- Entity shadows OFF
- Particles to MINIMAL
- Mipmaps to 0
This was made by cataloguing every horror mod I could find by searching for about 250 related keywords into the Curseforge app. I separated as many mods as I could into "redundancy groups" to avoid having too many mods that were too similar in functionality. I accepted only the best mods of each of those groups, did some on-the-ground experimentation, then chose a Minecraft version that aligned most with those best mods. Hypothetically, this is scientifically the best horror mod pack in terms of balance, variety, quality and for maintaining Minecraft's identity, all while having at least decent performance. If you are curious to see the spreadsheets and process I used please say so.
