About

Description

Most Cobblemon packs are about relaxing with cute creatures, exploring the world, training your team, and becoming the very best.

BLOODSPORT asks a different question:

What if your Pokémon weren't just your pets, but the one thing standing between you and a slow, painful death?

BLOODSPORT is a survival-focused Cobblemon experience where the wilderness is dangerous, battles carry lasting consequences, and staying alive is never guaranteed.

Your Pokémon are your greatest line of defense. Use them to keep yourself alive, train them to become stronger, but monitor their health as much as you monitor your own.

Press H to open up your Triage menu.

DIFFICULTY & CONTENT WARNING

BLOODSPORT is an intentionally stressful modpack.

You will regularly encounter situations where every available option has dire consequences, and decisions may have to be made under significant time pressure.

This modpack is designed to create tension and uncertainty, and put you in situations where you have very little control over the outcome.

If you become upset, overwhelmed, light-headed, or otherwise distressed while playing, take a break.

This is an intentional part of the experience, but you should never feel obligated to push through it.

As well, please review the DOOMED mod description if you have concerns about anything you may see in the mod: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/doomed-casualty-unknown-difficult-health-system

Note: Themes of self-harm have been removed, and the story mode is disabled by default. The rest remains exactly as stated by Matu.

QUICKSTART GUIDE

If this is the first time playing DOOMED, do not select any PERKS or FLAWS as they all significantly change gameplay. While the intro plays, I'd recommend reading the rest of this section.

As soon as the intro ends, press "M" to select your starter Pokémon. If you have trouble deciding, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle are great options.

Once you have a starter, focus on making a canteen (3 iron ingots, 1 leather), and a campfire. This will allow you to have clean water (interact with a campfire after collecting water in a canteen to disinfect it), a place to keep you warm, and a way to cook food without coal. Try to minimize the use of your Pokémon before you have a second one.

After or during that, find a block of wool so you can nap on it (select "nap" in your DOOMED triage menu) to restore energy (you can nap on anything, but wool gives more energy back), and pick up any DOOMED plants you find along the way. Make sure to watch out for landmines, they will almost always immediately kill you.

Now you should focus on making a mortar and pestle (5 stone, 1 stick) to make medical supplies using the DOOMED plants you have collected (make sure to plant any extras). The minigame requires you to spin the pestle around the bowl until the gauge is full. This can later be automated with a Create millstone or crushing wheels. As you will be carrying a lot of medical supplies, making a Sophisticated Backpacks backpack is highly recommended but you likely don't have the capacity to get the materials yet.

At this point, I'd recommend collecting more Pokémon. The orange trees you see around should have colorful berries / nuts on them, right click to take them off the tree. I would not recommend destroying the trees as getting your first seed of an apricorn tree is usually the hardest. Work on making Poké Balls with the apricorns you've collected.

Do not fight a Pokémon with a significantly higher level than you. If you don't have cheats on or the server you're on doesn't have any admins online, you may get locked out of one of the modpack's core mechanics if your entire party dies.

Once you have a safety net of 3 or more Pokémon, I'd begin to use your Pokémon for battles to level them up and collect stronger Pokémon to protect you from fights. Typically, it's best to have a large team rather than a strong team. Make sure your entire party doesn't die, always keep at least 2 Pokémon alive at all times.

Beyond that, I'd recommend working towards a DOOMED fuel generator, Immersive Engineering LV wires and wire connectors, a Create basic motor, a Create millstone, as well as planting industrial hemp seeds to get started on automating string and wool. All of these will help you get a head start on automating medical supplies.

That's it for the basics, have fun!

Side note:

When your Pokémon are damaged, wait for them to heal naturally. Berries no longer work outside of battles, so the most reliable way to get healing items for your Pokémon is by completing the gyms scattered around the map, finding the necessary ingredients to start mass producing fine remedies, or sleeping through the night.

If your Pokémon are at critical health, do not start the gym as you cannot leave trainer battles. If you don't prepare before a gym, you will likely lose all of your Pokémon in the fight.

MEDICAL SIMULATION TOGGLE

The DOOMED medical simulation is the intended way to play BLOODSPORT.

However, if it becomes too overwhelming, you can disable it with:

/doomed off confirm

This will return you to the normal, vanilla, health mechanics. If you want to return to the intended gameplay, re-enable DOOMED with:

/doomed

Note: Upon leaving and re-joining the world, you will be automatically opted back into DOOMED.

POKÉMON RECOVERY FAILSAFE

If you have no Pokémon left and no way to continue playing Cobblemon, another player can trade you a Pokémon to get you back on your feet. This is the intended way to recover from a complete storage wipe.

If no other player is available to help, an administrator can give you a new starter:

/givepokemonother <username> <pokemon> lvl=10

NOTABLE MODS

Core Gameplay

  • DOOMED | CASUALTIES UNKNOWN - Medical survival and persistent injury.
  • Cobblemon Fight or Flight - Makes Pokémon fight for you and makes wild Pokémon a threat to your health.
  • Simple Nuzlocke for Cobblemon - Permanent Pokémon death, developed specifically for BLOODSPORT.
  • Visual Health - Soaks your Pokémon in blood as they take damage. Also the reason for the modpack name.

Industry & Automation

  • Create: Cobblemon Industrialized - For automating Cobblemon.
  • Create: Crafts & Additions - For powering create machines.
  • Create: New Age - More options for powering create machines.
  • Create: Automotives - For building a portable medbay
  • Immersive Engineering - For electricity transfer and easy string/wool automation.

Mod changes I made using KubeJS:

Berries and basic remedies are banned outside of battle. You must complete Gyms for healing items, use brewing stands for potions, make fine remedies, sleep, or wait for natural regeneration.

The Create millstone and crushing wheels can make all DOOMED mortar and pestle recipes. This is to help with the automation of medical supplies.

Create water wheels can no longer be created. Use electricity (recommended) or a steam engine to power your machines.

Create: New Age wires and wire connectors can no longer be crafted. Use the Immersive Engineering wires to power machines. (Note: Recipes that required these items have been replaced with new recipes.)
