Description
This modpack aims to create an atmospheric Survival Horror experience that will keep you on edge through basically all of the content that Minecraft has to experience. I've included a handy Patchouli guide that will cover all of the basics to get you started.
The core changes to the gameplay itself come mostly from Homeostatic, Health Levels, and Better Combat. But, the most important mod here, imo, is Open Your Eye. It makes crafting Eyes of Ender MUCH more difficult. Now you'll have to face the Wither and the Warden before you can open a portal to reach the End.
Along your way something you will notice very quickly, is the complete lack of villages... Or villagers. Neither will spawn naturally, though the Wandering Trader is still around, and you can still get villagers by other means...
Reinforced Chests will help stop your food from Spoiling. But with my new Realistic Flesh to Leather Mod, the Rotten Flesh has a solid use now. Also, through a combination of Totally Lit, Torch Hit, and Firestarter, I've completely revamped how starting fires and lighting your home works. Now you'll have to maintain your fires.
This modpack builds on my Realism modpack, which itself built on my Tweaks modpack. See those pages for more details about the other aspects of this pack, including Vanilla+ mods from Tweaks, and Vanilla++ mods from Realism.
Getting the most out of this modpack:
Minecraft Setup:
Make sure you have Java set up properly for Minecraft in the CurseForge launcher. Give it as much RAM as you can spare, and under additional arguments, you should have:
-Xms16G -Xmx20G -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+ZGenerational -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem
Download Java JDK 25 (click here to download).
Recommendations:
I do NOT recommend playing this in Hardcore mode.
I do recommend giving the pack some time to load when you first start it up. Like, SOME time. Maybe even an hour or two. Technically you're supposed to wait about 10 hours for all the chunks that DH wants to load to finish loading, but aint nobody got time for that. lol
Extras:
For extra realism, try setting your character's height to match your real-world height!
Use /attribute @s generic.scale base set [scaling value]
Scaling value is your Height in Meters divided by two. I'm 5'8", so my scaling value was ~0.8785.
If you lose your starting equipment and are struggling without it, you can give it back to yourself with:
/starterkit give @s kit_1
Finally, just for reading all of this... you can find some super secret hidden goodies if you type (note the double backslash):
//schematic list
And then
//schematic load [one of the names that appear in the list]
And then
//paste
(CAUTION: It will paste a structure in front of you, overriding whatever you're looking at; if you don't like the results you can always //undo)

Future Updates:
- Currently playtesting, updates coming pretty frequently due to that. Any suggestions are very much welcome, though may be ignored if they don't fit what I'm trying to do. ;)
Project State:
Likely Unsolvable Issues:
- Basically anything added to the game stands out as being very low quality, visually speaking, compared to the incredible Patrix textures.
- Some trees spawned by Terralith use Wood instead of Logs, meaning that Round Trees will not make them round.
Probably Solvable Issues:
- When it's raining really heavily, sometimes the puddles like to kind of... pile up? lol (Probably an incompatibility issue somewhere, might be fixed by messing with Physics Mod or simply removing Motchen's Puddles).
