[Sometimes you spawn with an indefinite night vision effect. Unknown reason. use /effect clear to remove for now]
I'm making this bc I thought it would be funny. This modpack is for those who want to feel like they can't escape being exploited for their labor. Right off the bat, you'll start in a pavillion of merchants eager to send you to kill things for monster parts. You won't be able to though since you don't yet own the rights to interact with them, or fight with the monsters for that matter.
There's a lot of early game soft-locks, they are there by design, they make me laugh.
For lack of a guidebook (even if I took the time to add one, it would start paywalled) here's a quick guide:
---Taxes and Fees---
- Every time you interact with a new block/item/mob/anything you will have to pay a small fee for the permission to use it. You'll start with the rights to use and mine dirt and grass and you must use the terminal that you spawn in with to sell them for coins to buy the rights. Careful if you die though beacuse:
- Everytime you die your entire inventory will be picked up by a special villager called the "scavenger" and you have to buy your stuff back from him. If you die too early you won't have the funds to afford the right to even talk to him, or permission to own the emeralds you need to trade. He's in posession of your terminal now and you can't even kill him to take it back because you don't own the right to attack him yet either.
- Mining, trading, and smelting all slowly acrue taxes thay must be paid by opening a menu with ctrl-t. If you don't the IRS will come and try to pressure you into reason. It's okay though, since they don't know where the guns are buried
---the world---
In this modpack are several mods to create an infinite suburb complete with paved roads and bridges littering the entire world with abandoned houses, failed industry, and still functioning McDonalds. If decide to leave the main roads in favor of the dirt back roads, you might run into random encounters such as thiefs and monsters.
---gameplay---
I've added a pretty substantial suite of create mod addons (including Aeronautics) to help you in your wealth hoarding, tax paying, IRS slaying adventures. But there's also daily quests to complete and as many villagers as I could add that simultaneously felt fair and didn't overlap too much (there's still some overlap since I really wanted to add homesteaders living alone in the woods, and they have the same modded professions as new villagers in villages)
---Bosses---
This modpack also includes Twilight forest and Arthropod Phobia Expansions (as well as a daily boss arena) to give you a reason to use all that wealth late game
---plans---
Besides some rebalancing as I play through this modpack myself, I currently have no plans to change it. It is in my opinion right now a perfect beast. If anything I'm worried late game might be lacking content. I mostly built this modpack to make early game drag on and mimic the feel of real world rhetoric about "picking yourself up by the bootstraps"
