Description
Welcome to Project CTW. (Consume The World!)
The mega-corporation Viciterra has selected you for Project CTW, sending you to another planet to settle down on and gather/produce resources for the corporation.
While on the planet, you'll be able to pursue different ways to impress the leadership and get promoted to ascend up the corporate ladder.
Tasks for lower-rank employees start out simple, but grow in complexity as you get promoted.
There are numerous ways to rise up, but you are not forced into any singular path.
Or perhaps you can throw away the quest book. Who wants to spend forever poring over mundane, endless tasks? Look around you, you could just abandon working for your corporation and explore the world on your own. Explore what the world has to offer without relying on the guidence of Viciterra. Who's gonna stop you?
This pack is intended to highlight the IC2 Classic mod, harnessing what it has to offer to...Consume The World.
Designed to accommodate both veterans and people unfamiliar with IC2 Classic, the quest book is designed to assist you through learning IC2 Classic alongside the IC2 Classic wiki book.
Since the pack is designed to help you get comfortable with the mod, Fullbright and Freecam are intentionally in the pack by design. The intention with Freecam is just to allow you to get an easier look at your builds or to take good screenshots. What you do with it, whether or not you want it, is of course up to you.
Additionally, questlines are designed so that the player is free to pursue whatever is most interesting to them. Quests are ~90% done. The ending of all quests is there.
The pack is designed with the concept of finite resources, to help display the player's impact on the world around them, as well as provide interesting logistical challenges. There is finite water, and some passive power generation methods have been nerfed. That being said, many other aspects of this pack remain on the easier side to be more accessible for players.
Otherwise, this pack is designed to not force the player through mechanics they would rather avoid.
With that philosophy in mind:
- No progression gates where you have to go through an obscure mod to proceed further.
- No gameplay elements locked behind a quest.
No matter how you want to get stronger, whether you want to farm, explore, cook, or just mine, this pack will let you pick freely. This is not an Expert-style pack.
That being said, there are optional high-difficulty quests in the endgame that have you demonstrate your mastery over different mechanics in this pack, especially with the IC2 Classic mod.
RAM allocation recommendation: 4 GB.
Server RAM allocation recommendation: 2-3GB for small servers, increase if necessary.
Special thanks to Speiger for allowing me to beta test IC2 Classic patches, as well as assisting me with datapack creation.
Additional thanks to numerous other people for creating mods or giving advice to me, including but not limited to CrossVas, Trinsdar, Xaikii, Meduris, and Daenara.
While this pack is fine as is to highlight IC2 Classic as the main tech mod, it is built to be minimalistic as a "skeleton" to allow adding in other mods without too much disruption. Feel free to improve your own experience by adding mods you're familiar with, whether tech/magic/QoL/worldgen related. If it helps get you more comfortable with IC2 Classic, that's perfectly fine.
Thanks to IC2 Classic's Flux Generators to convert EU to FE, mods that rely on FE should be just fine to support.
With all that said, be ready to Consume The World!
